One of the more bizarre and equally awesome upcoming figures announced during yesterday Hasbro panel was the Linkin Park exclusive G1 Soundwave Set. The set comes in special packaging and features G1 Soundwave, Laserbeak, Ratbat, Ravage, and Buzzsaw painted gold (not molded in gold) with Linkin Park logos. The packaging, which is designed to mimic Soundwave's alt mode, features an opening cassette door that holds a removable cassette/certificate of authenticity. The set will be limited to 2000 units and sold through Linkin Park's affiliate SURU store and other yet to be determined hobby channels.

It's alright i guess.

Unnecessary is the first word that springs to mind. If it was chrome instead of flat gold i'd prolly be excited but like i said, unnecessary and is an easy pass. The affiliation with Likin Park also taints the concept to me aswell. Who really cares.....to be honest.

However.....a golden Ratbat has raised an eyebrow and is a point of interest. Not interesting enough to make me open my wallet and dole out hard earned dollars though.

It looks cool and it is a homage to the episode the golden lagoon if you think about it but linkin park sucks so theres no point

I can't believe someone got Laserbeak's lasers the wrong way round.

Personally I care very little about this one. Definitely one for the hardcore and specialist collectors.

I wouldn't take this even if it was free. In fact, I'd probably smack you for trying to unload it on me.

Weird as this thing is, it kinda makes sense. Linkin Park is as much a part of the Transformers movieverse as Michael Bay.

I might just get it for the golden cassettes, but I'm not a huge fan of the deco on Soundwave, but we'll see what it looks like in person, maybe it's not quite as bad as it looks.

Of course what would have made more sense was instead of using G1 Soundwave, use Music Label Soundwave, give him the gold treatment if you have to, forget the cassettes and have a Mini-SD card come pre-loaded with Linkin Park music.

You, sir, should be working for Hasbro. That's a brilliant idea. Heck, it wouldn't even have to have much music on it, just the 4 or 5 songs LP did for the movies.

Given that (as far as I know) ML Soundwave only supports up to 1gb cards, they could do that, or all of LP's albums, or all of the movie soundtracks and scores.

Either way, it would make more sense than just another Soundwave repaint with a LP label slapped on it. Plus you'd get ML Soundwave into the US market.

Well, this is a slice of horrible, now isn't it?

It looks like it was made out of melted Reese's peanut butter chips for cookie baking.
It's so unappealing, it hurts.

The packaging is awesome, though.

This is very much one of those "first not very thought-out ideas that you blurt out", no?

I love the idea of a Linkin Park edition TF....two of my favorite things. I'll admit they could've done better though...starting with using a movie figure or something considering LP has nothing to do with G1. I feel like Mike Shinoda would enjoy this though..lol

Just how badly do you want this thing to suck? As if it's not bad enough they have Stinkin' Fart logos on it, you want it to also come with their..."music"?

Linkin Park is many things... I'm not the biggest fan, though a few songs are good...
But they are NOT a boy band, stupid or otherwise.

Mike Shinoda and co. would kick your @$$ if they heard that.

 I was thinking the same thing.
Mike Shinoda kicking ass? I don't see it.

"Stinkin' Fart"
"I hate Nickelback"
"Metallica Sucks"
Etc...

Do you people ever find an artist, group, band, whatever, that you actually like and stick with it? I mean, seriously. It's always an "I hate..." kinda deal.

Obviously, there's something there, otherwise no money would be made. And last I checked, Linkin Park is still making money.

...hmm, yep. Still cashin' checks. So...

He's just dishing out some well expected hate, just gota take it in stride. (Atleast hes adding some creativity to the names too, not a fully wasted post :P)
Theres lots of bands I have stuck to. But I'll give you just one for now. Judas Priest. Not that I'd want a Judas Priest Soundwave even if he DID do a song for the movie. Obviously its all about the money. That will always remain the bottom line to all creative ideas coming out of Hasbro.
Anyway, its just fun to rag on something you don't like; it's nothing substantial to argue over.

EDIT: I WOULD have liked a Stan Bush Soundwave. Even if I do find some songs extremely cheesey and bordering on lame, its got the nostalgia and history with the brand. THATS what you turn.. uh.. gold?.. goldish..colour. Not some new age stuff that is meant to appeal to the current generation... but ya, money.

eh, let it go. I use to be a big LP fan, but their last two albums have been stinkers.

And Stan Bush ... dear god no, the man has never really had a hit, he's just popular with a fanbase for one song from an animated movie from the 80's.

But.. that song was in American dad too... And he had altogether 3 songs that have to do with Transformers. The touch, dare, and that new one with WFC footage in the background and the boobies. Plus his songs were during the movie, not just the end credits. SO THERE!

How can you stick with something you were never very fond of to begin with? I'll give you Metallica...I was into them before they sold out, but if you can't tell the difference between their pre 'Black Album' music vs post, there's something wrong with your ears. They're not even remotely the same band. It's like G1 vs Beast Wars...yeah, they're all called Transformers, but they're not even close to the same thing.

PS...Picklesack? Really?
