Good news everyone!
I was sitting here, analyzing some of the shots of Scattorshot and Betatron, when I noticed some interesting details, specifically regarding the combined mode's "chest plate" and head.
First up is the Chest Plate. I've included pics of:
1. The CG Render of Scattorshot
2. The "Mock-up" SDCC Scattorshot
3. The "Mock-up" SDCC Betatron
4. Combiner Wars Silverbolt
5. Combiner Wars Superion
As you can see, the CG version of Scattorshot has different paint apps than what was shown at SDCC. There's a division in colors about midway down the piece that becomes Betatron's chest that isn't present on the SDCC Mock-ups. The "latch" that swings the chest pieces into place during transformation is also differently colored (circled yellow) while being all the same color on the Mock-ups. This color difference would result in the same type of pseudo-chestplate that Superion has, but cast in red and Maroon, which is Computron's colorscheme (Although G1 Computron's Chestplate is titanic, so you'll have to settle for a smaller one).
Next is the head. Due to how Superion's head is stored in Silverbolt, his antennae poke out of Silverbolt's stomach. The same seems to be true of Scattorshot and Betatron. What's interesting is that the CG version of Scattorshot has
Maroon antennae for Betatron, which again, is what G1 Computron has. The antennae also seem to be cast in the same shade of Maroon as Scattorshot. The Mock-up, on the other hand, has literally the same color antennae (and combiner head) as Superion, and is a color found nowhere on Scattorshot. The same can be said of the red of Betatron's visor and the black of his helmet. That's a pretty different and cost-inefficient (
This IS a retail Hasbro product we're talking about) use of paint just for a single part.
All of this makes me believe that Scattorshot was only recently finished, and they rushed to finish his robot and vehicle modes' detailing to make them presentable for SDCC, while not having a chance to touch Betatron. It seems they didn't even have a head ready, and just slapped a Superion head on.
So, at the very least, I'm confident that Betatron (and by extension, Computron), won't be the bland repaint he appeared as at SDCC, having better paint apps on his chest and head. I'd imagine that since the Superion head wasn't even painted, the Mock-up didn't even HAVE a Combiner head yet, and they quickly snagged a spare Superion head to use at the show (A headless combiner would be kind of pathetic). Maybe they're tooling a new head based off of Superion's for Betatron, as the antennae seem to be exactly the same. And really, you could just give CW Superion a mouth and nose and the right paint, and he'll look just like Computron.
