Ricochet initially ignored Hex as the crazy mech stepped in closer to him. The young Autobot’s explanation as to what Rodimus was doing in the confines of the thicket with the sicko known as Darkride offered little to ease the marksman’s anger and built up aggression. “Rodimus could’ve taken care of him out here and in a much quicker fashion. He’s wasting time playing with that ‘Con!” The black and gold gunner then cast a glance towards Hex at the mention of the interrogator wanting to off-line him. “Yeah, I’ll bet. Him and most others, including my...”

The marksman’s words were cut short as he noticed Hex’s crossbow pointed in his direction. Ricochet immediately reacted to the potential threat and spun around to face the insane Autobot youth, quickly raising his weapon up and aiming it directly at his own comrade who appeared to not know which side he was really on. “What the slag do you think you’re doing, Hex, pointing that bow at me?! I suggest you lower it now before I blow your fraggin’ head off!!”

The gunner’s words fell on deaf audios as the screams finally died down and Hex suggested that he go take a look. Ricochet glared back at the young mech through the sights of his dart rifle, not wanting to let his guard down in the presence of a clearly deranged individual that claimed to be a fellow Autobot. “Perhaps I will, and I’ll be sure to let Rodimus know that you’re shrike-bat slag crazy while I’m at it! Now, don’t move an actuator or you’ll be dead before you hit the ground!”

Backing away from Hex, Ricochet carefully stepped into the wooded area that was now behind him until he came to a small clearing. The marksman then turned around to address the flame-covered Autobot only to see him standing with Darkride, the interrogator seemingly no worse for wear. “Rodimus, Hex has.....” The gunner’s words once again trailed off as he noticed that the former cavalier’s hand was resting on the torturer’s shoulder as though he was a fellow comrade in arms. “...wait, what the frag are you doing!? I thought you were killing him and here you are welcoming the little slagger with open arms! Are you serious?!!”

Ricochet swung his rifle around and pointed it directly at both Rodimus and Darkride. “You’re no Prime, Hot Rod, not now, not ever!! You’re nothing more than a filthy traitor, and there’s only one way to deal with your kind!!!” Not waiting for an explanation, the enraged marksman opened fire, hoping to end the faux Prime’s reign before it had even begun.
_________

I understand, Master. It will be done!

Hardhead’s smile had widened as much as possible for a robotic lifeform. He was but mere astroseconds away from unleashing the Pit on these unsuspecting Cybertronians, both Autobot and Decepticon. They were a cancer that had spread across the galaxy and would even threaten the universe as a whole it they were not stamped out and obliterated once and for all.

The war veteran was pleased that one of his shards had at the very least grazed Oil Slick on the leg, but it had not been enough to bring down the chemical expert. This ‘Con was a slippery one to be sure as he expelled an acidic cloud to hide behind like the coward he and his kind really were. Transforming into motorcycle mode, the chemist made an attempt to escape into the sea, radioing his comrades as he went. Hardhead remained where he was and did nothing to stop the fleeing Decepticon as both Warpath and Saferoute were already on the attack.

>>”No, Saferoute, we are NOT taking prisoners! Destroy that ‘Con! Do not let him escape! Warpath, he may have already warned the rest of his brethren! Be prepared for more enemy troops coming from the sea!”<<

Once the comm line with the two Autobots had been severed, Hardhead let out a low chuckle. His intent was to keep their attentions on the waterline and not on himself or his brothers. The green herald had no intention of giving further aid to any Cybertronian regardless of the badge that they displayed oh so proudly. In fact, Hardhead could not wait to erase his own red symbol from his chestplate, forever severing the ties to his former existence.

Soon.

Bottom of the Yellow Sea

Long Haul had been left alone once the triplechangers had abandoned him. Thankfully, there were more than enough worker drones to continue the digging and loading of material into his truck bed. Yet again, the green transport lugged more dirt and debris away from the water-tight dome with the intention of dumping the load in the same spot he had deposited everything else thus far. He paid little attention to the Combaticons as they tried to stop the fleeing Astrotrain and Blitzwing. It was a small skirmish that mattered little to the heavy lifter. He had a menial job to do and he wasn’t going to let a few misbehaving mechs get in his way.

Then, the transmission from Oil Slick came down from above. Apparently, the creepy chemist was under Autobot attack up on the beach. How the slag did they find us?! Even Soundwave with all of his communications skills hasn’t yet located our new base and those idiots were able to? Long Haul stopped in his watery tracks and quickly unloaded his burden onto the seabed before transforming back into robot mode. He glanced upwards towards the surface while at the same time opening a comm line to Scrapper:

>>”Hey, Boss! Did you get that transmission from Oil Slick? We got Autobots up there. Should I stop what I’m doing and go help or just let the Combaticons handle things?<<“

Hex’s smile broadened when Ricochet finally looked over in his direction and caught sight of the young herald holding his crossbow on him. The look on the gunner’s face was simply priceless. Hex wondered what it would look like once his head was removed from his body. Or even better, why not produce a head on a spike. Yes. Now that would be enticing.

“Oh come on, Ric, you honestly think I’ll fire on you? Please. We’re on the same side, remember?”

The smile on his face morphed into something entirely sinister. He wanted energon spilled and it was the gunner’s that he would get.

“Hang on I’m comin’ with! I wanna see just what Roddy did to that freak!”

Slowly Hex lowered his weapon and started after Ricochet. Oh what a surprise he would be graced with. And so there stood his Master with the newest addition to their fold. It was rather touching to those who were privy.

Upon the intrusion of their makeshift sanctuary both Rodimus and Darkride looked in the gunner’s direction. The Prime expressionless while Darkride wore a mask of desperation. He wanted to make his first kill…he needed to feel the life giving energon flow through his actuators.

“You are wrong, Ricochet. I am indeed a Prime. And I am the one who will free you.”

Darkride let out a disturbing cackle as he and Hex watched their Master press forward…the plasma darts simply bouncing off the flame embossed chestplate. It was a power he had been holding back…and yet there were so many others that would come into play.

Rodimus stopped once in front of the black and gold mech and took hold of his weapon’s barrel. With little effort he gently pulled the rifle from Ricochet’s hands and placed it on his shoulder. He stared down into the shorter mech’s optics for a moment before he spoke.

“I am sorry, Ricochet. But the cleansing must commence. Hex…Darkride…kill him and dispose of the body.”

The Prime flashed the gunner a grievous expression as he placed a hand on his shoulder. With a slight nod Hex and Darkride began their advance while their Master took several steps backward.

“Do not worry. The child and my interrogator will take very good care of you. In fact Darkride will be sure to make your death quite painful. Now, I must bid you farewell.”

With those final words the mech who identified himself as Rodimus Prime vanished in a cloud of smoke. Teleportation...such a useful power. His final herald awaited and the Ultrax was his destination.

“I’ve been waiting for this. I told you I wanted to play. Do you still wanna play with me, Ricochet?”

Darkride let out a malicious laugh at Hex’s taunt before he and his brother descended on the unlucky Autobot.

“My call, huh?” Blitzwing looked at Astrotrain. “Really?”

Truth be told, that was all he could manage. He didn't expect Astrotrain to simply relinquish his vote on the current situation and rely on Blitzwing to make the decision, essentially casting his vote for him. But that appeared to be the case.

For a moment, he wondered if Astrotrain was having him on, was getting back at the Triple Changer for all the jokes he had forced upon his comrade to listen to in the last vorn or so. There certainly were more than a few. And as good-natured as they were—and as his intentions were—perhaps Blitzwing had crossed the line in his quest to prove that he was the funniest fellow to ever serve the Decepticon empire.

Maybe Astrotrain, dominated by frustration and bordering on breaking point, had resolved to play a joke on him?

What now?

What on Cybertron was he thinking about? His friend, fed up, planning to exact a little revenge on him? Please. Save the paranoia for those who truly warranted it.

“Well,” Blitzwing said. “I think we—”

A combination of beeps and flashes emitted from his comm-link, followed by a voice. Urgency could be detected in the dispatcher's tone. Gunfire could be heard haunting the background of the transmission.

>>”Decepticons, we are under Autobot attack! Repeat, we are under Autobot attack! Approximately six Autobots are on the surface near the construction sight.”<<

A new development. How interesting. How very interesting.

He grinned. “I say we go kick the slag out of some Autobozos. What say you?”

Ramjet had felt a strike of frustration when Blitzwing, one of his closest friends, ignored him. What was wrong? Blitzwing had punched him, but never ignored him before.

"Was it something I said?" Ramjet asked his friend, half joking.

He then heard cannon fire, then the familiar whirl of artillery whizzing by one’s head. The moronic Combaticon, Brawl had just fired a few Stun Grenades toward them. Ramjet acted fast and leaped out of the way with a jolt of his Rocket-Boots, narrowly avoiding the blast radius of the Stun Grenades.

“Fraggit, Brawl, watch your fire!” Ramjet bellowed, swimming over the irate tank-former and landing on a tall rock formation.

It was then when the transmission came. The voice was a new one to Ramjet, and that was saying something. He had had a fight with just about everyone at least once in his life, and he was not one to forget his victories. But this signal was a warning; Autobots were attacking the construction site!

Ramjet looked about him and saw that he and the Triple-Changers were the only fliers that were at the construction site. Seeing that he was the only “Elite” Seeker there, it was only natural that he would take command of the sky. But the Autobots would surely be in the water sooner or later, and that would mean that Ramjet would lose his advantage. He had to act now.

>>Blitzwing and Astrotrain! We need to stop the Autobots from getting to the construction site! Take it to ‘em in the sky!<< Ramjet barked through the open comm.

And, with that, Ramjet leaped from his perch and swam until he breached the surface. He then Transformed and blasted upwards, leaving a bowl of displaced water behind. He checked his altimeter and decided that he was high enough, so he pitched downwards and saw the Autobots laying waste to the lingering Decepticons on the beach. Most notably was Darkride, who was (A little disturbingly) being dragged into the tree-line. It was then when he heard the gut-wrenching scream from the woods. Even the birds flew out of their trees at the sound. Ramjet felt a chill down his spine. It wouldn’t surprise Ramjet if the red mech actually killed Darkride.

Not that he cared anything about the creepy mech, but he did care about the apparent hardcore Autobots.

>>Autobots sighted; sending coordinates. Erm, I think that they might have killed Darkride.<< Ramjet said through the link with the Decepticons.

Bonecrusher felt the weight of the adhesive that the now nervous Mixmaster was spraying. The demolitions expert then walked to the structure and placed the panel on the skeleton of a dome. Then, after the adhesive had dried, Bonecrusher picked up the next one and began to carry it back to the chemist.

“Yeah, I think so! Looks like… A Conehead!” Bonecrusher growled.

Then the signal came from Oil Slick, another chemist. Bonecrusher recognized his voice because he had heard Oil Slick and Darkride speaking earlier. It was incredible, really; Autobots had found them! Bonecrusher slammed the panel into the dirt and pulled out his mortar launchers.

“Where are they!? I’ll rip their arms off!” Bonecrusher snarled openly.

One ready, five more to go - Scrapper thought as he disconnected some the various monitoring and programming equipment he had connected to Scavenger. Hook had followed his designs to perfection and had even managed to increase the efficiency of some of Scavenger's new sub-systems from Scrapper's original calculations. Not by much but Scrapper counted it as a small victory for the Empire nevertheless. Working side by side with professionals like Hook allowed Scrapper to reach heights he could never have reached on his own. And while Scrapper was not going to voice it, the same went for Hook himself. The master surgeon simply lacked Scrapper's engineering ingenuity. But those hands of Hook's... Scrapper was ready to bet even the legendary Autobot CMO Ratchet couldn't hold a candle to his fellow Constructicon.

>>”Decepticons, we are under Autobot attack! Repeat, we are under Autobot attack! Approximately six Autobots are on the surface near the construction sight.”<<

Just as Scrapper was preparing his equipment for the final touches with Scavenger's faux-maintenance operation, the transmission from Oil Slick came through. It truly seemed that the universe had again thrown a wrench to his plans. How in the name of Primus he was going to be able to finish Devastator with all these blasted interruptions?

>>”Hey, Boss! Did you get that transmission from Oil Slick? We got Autobots up there. Should I stop what I’m doing and go help or just let the Combaticons handle things?”<<

At least second transmission had come from one of his own, Scrapper thought as he prepared a reply for Long Haul in his mind. Neither he or Hook could engage the Autobots without endangering Scavenger's life and the Devastator project. And truth to be told, he'd rather keep Mixmaster working with his mixtures rather than sending the chemist to battle either. Same could not be said for Long Haul and Bonecrusher. They were both strong and tough, and had mindsets far better suited for combat than the rest of the Constructicons. He'd not hesitate to send them to bolster the ranks of their defences but he wanted to hear Onslaught's analysis of the situation first. The Combaticon strategist was simply far superior to him in situations like this and Scrapper had no reason to step on Onslaught's toes so to speak.

>>"We will wait for further instructions from Onslaught. However, we cannot ignore the possibility of having to engage the enemy. All Constructicons prepare for combat."<<

Ricochet looked on in utter disbelief as his plasma darts simply bounced off of Rodimus’ chestplate as though they were nothing more than mere sticks. Before the gunner knew it, the flame-covered mech was standing in front of him and had taken his rifle before ordering both Darkride and Hex to kill him, painfully in the interrogator’s case. Then, as if by magic, the former cavalier disappeared, leaving only a bit of smoke in his wake.

“What the slag?” Ricochet could only get out of his dumbfounded vocalizer. What the frag had just happened? Rodimus can teleport now as though he was Skywarp? What kind of nonsense was this and what other powers did the self-proclaimed Prime now have that he didn’t exhibit before? That mech was clearly not Hot Rod reborn. He was someone or something else entirely, and it scared the slag out of the marksman.

The black and gold gunner then quickly backed away as Hex and Darkride approached him with the intent of exterminating his spark. How the young 'Bot could go from hating the torturer one astrosec to working side by side with him the next was anyone’s guess. It just added to the already unbelievable nature of this entire scenario that he found himself trapped in.

“I’m not playing with anyone who sides with a ‘Con!” Ricochet yelled back at Hex, readying his shoulder-mounted cannon in the process. Without further delay, the marksman turned and ran back through the foliage until he came out onto the beach again. He then turned his sights back on the wooded area and unleashed a heavy barrage of powerful shells in a desperate attempt to stop or destroy the seemingly supernatural pair. Somehow, though, he felt that their power had become just as great as that of Rodimus. If that was the case, then his explosives would likely not stop them or they would simply avoid the destruction that was beginning to rain down onto the dense thicket.

Opening his comm line to the others, Ricochet tried to warn his comrades of the situation:

>>”Hardhead, Saferoute, Warpath! This is Ricochet! Rodimus and Hex have betrayed us! They have joined forces with Darkride and are trying to offline me! Rodimus also just teleported away to Primus only knows where after shrugging off dozens of my plasma darts like they were human toothpicks! There’s something very wrong here! Their power has increased dramatically! I need immediate assistance! ”<<
_________

Not far away, Hardhead stood on the beach, watching as Ramjet soared by overhead. Soon more would arrive and then the fun would kick into high gear. The green warrior simply smiled at the thought of more Cybertronian trash entering the impending slaughter. How nice it would be to cleanse his actuators in their own energon. How very nice, indeed.

Hardhead’s smile morphed into a full on laugh as he received Ricochet’s transmission for help. The war veteran turned towards the gunner’s position near the edge of the sand and opened a return comm line with the doomed Autobot marksman:

>>”I’m afraid, Ricochet, that your doom was written the moment you were forged. Like all Cybertronians, there is no escaping your fate. Now, be a good little mech and die at the hands of my brothers!”<<

With his message sent, Hardhead returned his attention to both Saferoute and Warpath, who were still attempting to stop Oil Slick from escaping. Knowing that his brothers would appear through the fires very soon, the green herald saw no reason to put off the inevitable any longer. Thus, Hardhead transformed into his Stryker armored vehicle mode and pointed his 120mm cannon in the bus-former’s direction before opening fire. With a volley of highly explosive shells heading directly towards the yellow femme, the veteran soldier quickly rotated his turret around until his sights were then set on the crimson tank. Hardhead opened fire once more, hoping to quickly eliminate two Autobots with a single, well-timed attack that neither one of them would see coming.
_________

As the fires from his artillery bombardment consumed the wooded area in front of him, Ricochet received a very unexpected response from Hardhead. It seemed that the war veteran was also a traitor to their cause, but there was much more to his words than simple Decepticon rhetoric. There was a sheer hatred in his vocals for anything Cybertronian, regardless of the side they fell on. Perhaps a third faction had formed that sought the destruction of both ‘Con and ‘Bot. Regardless, things had just gone from worse to absolute horrible in the blink of an optic.

Ricochet backed further away from the burning thicket and turned to see that Hardhead had now opened fire on both Saferoute and Warpath. It appeared that those two were not traitors and thus were his only hope for survival. Opening a comm line to his fellow Autobots, the marksman sent another warning:

>>”Saferoute, Warpath, incoming! Hardhead is a traitor, too!”<<

Even in the midst of this little altercation, Onslaught hoped that Swindle's tactic bore some results. He had no desire to engage in combat with other Decepticons but he would do what needed to be done to preserve order in this already uncertain and chaotic period of their empire's history. If that meant incapacitating, or offlining altogether, a couple of insubordinate triple-changers then so be it.

More than one of the blasts pelted Onslaught's armored hide, but it did little noticeable damage at this point. The Combaticon Commander was readying a second volley when a new transmission had come in. One that immediately overrode everything that currently occupied Onslaught's attention.

Autobots? Here? They had installed early warning systems. They were obviously not in the most ideal location to achieve optimum functionality, but they still should have proved sufficient...

How in the slag...?

Their location had been compromised. That much was obvious. To what extent, Onslaught did not know, but he had to assume that if the Autobots knew it was entirely possible that everyone now knew what was being built down here. Onslaught would be damned if he was going to give it up without a fight.

>>"Disengage and regroup at the site. Activate and utilize all resources. Those without sufficient artillery will support those with. Time to test out those terrain defenses! Dig in and blow away anything that tries to take this from us!"<< Onslaught transmitted on the open-Decepticon frequency. Security of the signal was the last thing on his mind now. He could care less who might overhear. It wouldn't matter anyway if they ended up losing all the progress they had made to some Autobot raid. >>"Does anyone have visuals? Who's doing this?"<<

Onslaught slammed his gears in to reverse and began to backtrack towards the construction site. If Blitzwing and Astrotrain decided to listen to Swindle's reasoning, as well as the call of any Decepticon to respond to an Autobot threat, he might be a little more lenient when it came time to deal with their burst of disobedience. If not, well, then they would be the next mechanoids he would make a special point to see hunted down and brought to justice. Decepticon justice.

Saferoute continued driving along the shore, but she was too far behind Oil Slick to stop the Decepticon chemist or even see if any of her shots hit. She was determined to stop him, though. Just then she was startled by the sound of multiple large explosions coming from behind her- Decepticon reinforcements? Then she recieved a disturbing message from Ricochet, Rodimus and Hex had betrayed them, and they possessed some sort of supernatural powers.

"What?", she exclaimed as she put on the breaks, "Did he burn out a processor or something?"

As the busformer came to a complete stop she got a better look of the area behind her from where she heard the explosions- and to her horror saw the wooded area they'd travelled through burning.

"Primus no!", she shouted, "There shouldn't have been any native casualties!"

Slowly but surely she turned her bus mode around toward the fires. Slag attacking the Decepticons, there were innocent Earth creatures in danger!

But just as she started in that direction she received a warning from the marksman- Hardhead was a traitor and was firing on them.

"Oh slag!", she yelled as the warning was confirmed when she heard the sound of Hardhead's cannon firing.

To slow to drive away to avoid the shells, Saferoute transformed back to robot mode, laying on the ground as low as she possibly could in the hopes they would fly right over her. Covering her arms over her head and into the sand, she felt two shells whiz right over her, much to her relief. That relief was very short lived, as a third shell hit her armor where the front of her bus mode stuck out from her shoulders.

Her scream was drowned out by the explosion as she felt the metal armor and glass shatter, scorching heat burning portions of her back that weren't directly hit as she was pushed deeper into the ground. It felt even worse then the burns she got in El Dorado.

She lay on the ground for several astroseconds to make sure he was done firing at her.

Saferoute put her arms out from over her head, and looked around to get her bearings. Ricochet was right that Hardhead had betrayed them, as now the green warrior was firing on Warpath. Hopefully that would give her enough time to find some cover.

She spotted Ricochet, but he seemed to be standing out in the open, not where she wanted to be. A couple hundred yards to her right she noticed a dune, not the best cover, but it was better than laying in the open like she was right now.

Come on, fight the pain, fight the pain....

Ignoring the burning she felt on her back, Saferoute got herself up- thankfully her motor functions were intact. Biting her lip she ran as best she could, clumsily tripping every so often in her rush, painstakingly making her way to the dune. Reaching the top she stumbled down behind it.

"ARGH, SLAGGIT!", she yelled in pain as she landed with her back against the cover. Looking over she waved at the marksman to get over to her position.

>>Ricochet, I'm hit but I'm not slagged yet. Now stop standing and staring and get over here, you're just making yourself a target!<<

*

Warpath's treads creaked as his engine roared, the crimson tank making his presence known on the battlefield. Still pursuing Oil Slick, he scoffed at the marksman's warning about Rodimus and Hex.

>>BLAM, yeah right, Ricochet. You're WHAM probably just whining because Rodimus wouldn't listen to one of your ideas. Give it a BANG rest, ya' drama drone!<<

Warpath loaded an explosive shell into his cannon as he rolled ahead, looking for Oil Slick or any other Decepticon target.

"POW, come out, come out, whereever you are!", Warpath taunted, "Guess those Decepti-slaggers are BLAM too scared to face Warpath and his good buddy Hardhe-"

Warpath was interrupted by another message from Ricochet, this time about the veteran soldier he was about to name.

"BANG, oh that's rich.", Warpath said to himself, "There's no SLAGGIN' way my pal Hardhead would-"

Warpath stopped in his tracks as he looked over to his friend, and practically went into shock when he saw the green armored vehicle fire on the busformer.

>>Hardhead what the- what the slag are you DOING!?!<<

Before the crimson tank got a response he saw his friend's turret turn to toward him and fire. With no time to think Warpath quickly aimed his own cannon at Hardhead's shots and fired. Halfway between the two warriors came a large explosion as Warpath's explosive shell collided with Hardhead's own artillery. Warpath transformed back into robot mode as he felt force from the explosion. Any other time he'd be bragging about how his superior accuracy saved him, but he wasn't in any mood.

As the smoke cleared, Warpath ran right toward the green armored vehicle. This was his friend, a warrior he had spilled oil with in battle, and laughed about it later over mugs of energon. To say he felt betrayed would be an understatement.

As he got close enough the crimson warrior loaded his chamber with another explosive round. His optics burned as he went right up to the veteran warrior and stood directly in front of him.

"WHAT IS YOUR SLAGGIN' PROBLEM!?!", Warpath yelled, as he stomped his foot right onto the front of Hardhead's vehicle mode, "YOU TRANSFORM RIGHT NOW, LOOK ME RIGHT IN THE OPTICS AND TELL ME WHAT THE FRAG IS GOING ON!!!"

Hex reveled in the knowledge that Ricochet was too confused to make any sense of the situation that had been unfolding right under everyone’s’ noses. Such delicious irony. Hex let out a haughty laugh as he edged even closer to his intended target.

“Aw come on, Ricochet. I can assure you that Darkride will play nice. In fact he’s even willing to let you pick the game!”

At his young brother’s taunt Darkride let out an evil laugh. How he’d enjoy tearing this one apart.

He’s mine. So no ideas! Buuuut I will let you play with at least one part of him…how about his head?

The silent communication from Hex had Darkride releasing another dark chuckle…it ended abruptly when both heralds noted that their prey was making an escape. The interrogator smile faded into a deep frown right before he lowered into a crouch and took off after Ricochet’s retreating form. Close behind was the youngest of the pack belonging to Rodimus.
____

Hex had emerged from the tree line just as Darkride sprinted off after Ricochet. The young mech let out a growl but it was quickly squelched when he caught sight of their warrior herald fire on the remaining oppressors. Warpath and Saferoute. Hardhead had such a way with that cannon of his. The thought of the last Autobots’ sparks being extinguished by their hands was so very intoxicating.

It was then that he realized that the other ‘Bots stuck on those two ships shouldn’t be left out of the whole fray. After all the more opponents the more dead bodies. A sight he couldn’t pass up.

>>”Prowl! Or whoever the hell is in charge! It’s Hex! A bunch of us followed Rodimus down planet side! We found the ‘Cons but we’re takin’ a beating! You gotta send reinforcements like yesterday! These are our coordinates!”<<

Now that his desperate message had been sent Hex turned his focus on Saferoute whom he spotted trying, as best as her bulky form would allow, taking cover behind a large sand dune. He let out an amused chuckle as he recalled hardhead’s artillery shell grazing and burning her back plating. It must have hurt like the Pit.

Hex glanced around the area and took off around the perimeter of the tree line occasionally ducking in behind some shrubbery, until he stopped to the bus-former’s right.

“You know you can’t hide from us don’t you, Saferoute?”
____

The interrogator was fast, but he was certainly much faster now. From the border surrounding the shore Darkride had lowered into a crouch and took off at high speed after the Autobot Gunner. He was already ordered by his brother that he had no right to take his life, instead he could play with him…and Darkride had several games he wished to show Ricochet.

Even while closing in on his target Darkride could hear the communique Hardhead had sent to their former comrade. The interrogator let out a chuckle as he closed in on his target who would no doubt be stunned by the sudden revelation that not only had this small insignificant group been duped but so had both factions.

An animalistic growl was the only sound made before Darkride moved to take down Ricochet.

(OOC: The outcome of the confrontation between Hardhead and Warpath was agreed upon by both players.)

On Shore

Hardhead smiled when Warpath managed to blast his shells right out of the air. The crimson warrior had skills, without a doubt. However, those skills would only delay the inevitable outcome of this confrontation between old friends, an outcome that would see the tank-former lying in ruins beneath the green herald’s sheer fury. “Nice shot, ‘Path,” the war veteran replied as he transformed back to robot mode in order to meet his former comrade faceplate to faceplate on the battlefield they now found themselves on. He could see the rage in Warpath’s optics as he demanded to know what was going on.

“What’s going on?” Hardhead rhetorically asked, staring the crimson mech directly in the optics. “The destruction of you and every other Cybertronian in the Universe, that’s what’s going on!” Using his right hand, the green herald then grabbed a hold of Warpath’s chest cannon and swiftly bent it downward until it was at a ninety degree angle. The previously loaded shell could not fire now, not that it could really do any harm to the war veteran. The former Autobot smiled as he then delivered a powerful head butt to Warpath’s faceplate, knocking the red mech backwards and down to the sand. Wasting no time, Hardhead was on top of him in one swift motion before the tank-former could even react.

“My dear Warpath, your end has come,” Hardhead growled as he began to pummel his former comrade in the faceplate with closed fists. The green herald did not need his shatterblasters in order to shatter his opponent. His master had given him all the power he could ever need to wipe clean the scourge of the Cybertronian race. After repeated hits to the faceplate, Warpath’s head was left a mangled mess, but he was still functional. Not for long, Hardhead mused as he grabbed ahold of the crimson warrior’s cranium with both hands and easily ripped it off of his body, leaving the tank-former decapitated with energon pouring from the neck stump.

Hardhead then stood back up and lifted the severed cranial unit up to optic level. “Now you and Howlstrike have something in common. Heh heh,” the green herald chuckled before tossing the head aside and turning his attention to the rest of the slaughter that was beginning to take shape all around him. With Hex’s message sent to those in orbit, more Autobots would soon arrive along with more Decepticons from the sea. Once that occurred, even more energon would be spilled in the most grisly of fashion.
_________

Ricochet was dismayed that neither Saferoute nor Warpath seemed to take his warnings seriously. It was their loss as the expert marksman was not about to go out of his way in order to convince his comrades of who they could or could not trust. They would find out for themselves soon enough, and it would ultimately be their funeral if they didn’t want to believe the truth until it was too late.

>>”Suit yourselves.”<<

The gunner’s message had no sooner been sent when both of his comrades quickly realized that he had been right and found themselves under attack by Hardhead. The bus-former took an immediate hit while the crimson tank managed to knock the incoming shells out of the air before transforming and angrily confronting his old “friend”. Good luck with that, Ricochet thought as he noticed that Saferoute had managed to fight through the pain and get to cover a short distance away, suggesting that the marksman do the same.

>>”I know what I’m doing, sweetspark, I....”<<

Ricochet’s transmission was cut short by the sound of a vicious growl that drew the gunner’s attention back to the burning foliage where he saw that both Hex and Darkride had emerged unscathed. It was an unbelievable sight to be sure as any normal Autobot or Decepticon would’ve been fried, but somehow these two managed to survive with no damage whatsoever to show for it. It was like magic or perhaps some special kind of shielding. Either way, the black and gold mech needed to find a way around this protection if he was going to make it out of this with his spark still intact.

As Hex headed off towards Saferoute’s location, the interrogator ran directly at Ricochet, himself, the sharpshooter turning to face his oncoming attacker. With his rifle confiscated by that thing called Rodimus, the gunner only had his shoulder-mounted cannon to play with. It would do, espcially considering that a more powerful weapon was needed in order to make a simple dent against these super-charged mechanoids. Plasma darts were simply not going to be good enough.

“You want a piece of me, Darkride?!” Ricochet taunted his quickly approaching adversary. “Well, come and get me you filthy piece of slag!!” The black and gold marksman lined up his sights and unleashed a volley of over two dozen explosive shells, hoping that the torturer would have no place to go as hellfire rained down all around him.

Dodge that, glitch!

While Autobots having found their base wasn't exactly good news, Brawl was positively delighted to hear about this new development of the situation. It allowed him to do what he loved to do. The one thing he was good at. Fight. And this time he didn't have to try avoid damaging the opponent. In fact, blowing the enemy to smithereens was now the preferred course of action.

Hearing Onslaught's orders spurred Brawl to action. He did not think, he just acted. Just like Onslaught had indoctrinated him to do. Hitting his gears to reverse, Brawl backed down into one of the firing positions he had dug around the base perimeter earlier and pre-loaded his turret with explosive shells. Now he just needed targets or at least the general direction where to deploy his firepower. But for that he needed coordinates.

Luckily enough Brawl didn't have to wait for the coordinates for long. Ramjet had taken into the air and managed to quickly provide the general position of the enemy. That was all the information Brawl needed. Until Onslaught would pick him a target, he'd just randomly slug explosive shells at the Autobots. Given how he had enough firepower to do indirect damage even if his shells would not find their intended targets - this was something he could afford to do . And what came to Darkride, the creepy interrogator - if he even was alive anymore - was nothing but collateral damage as far the Combaticon heavyweight was concerned.

And so, Brawl spearheaded the Decepticon artillery units by opening fire towards the bots at the shore while other 'cons without ability to fire in arches like Ramplate prepared for the possibility of the Autobots trying to make a charge towards the Decepticon base.

_____________________________

Around the same time as Brawl began his artillery barrage, Scrapper decided to split his unit at least for now. Bonecrusher and Long Haul would be the most welcome additions to the defensive forces. Both were strong and tough and yearned for the opportunity to take combat duty anyway. The rest of the Constructicons were to continue their work for now at least.

>>"Bonecrusher, Long Haul - join up with our defense forces and follow Onslaught's orders for now! I will update you even the situation changes, Scrapper out!"<<

Having sent the transmission, Scrapper turned his attention towards Hook who was still working on Scavenger. "How long until you are done with Scavenger?"

Oh Shore

Warpath kept his cannon aimed squarely at Hardhead as the war veteran transformed to robot mode. When he had decided to join Rodimus and the others to attack the Decepticons, the crimson warrior believed he and Hardhead would be fighting side by side, taking down the Decepticons with their firepower and great strength. The last thing he would have thought he'd be doing was having to fire on his old war buddy.

Hardhead's words were a complete shock to Warpath- the destruction of every Cybertronian in the Universe? Those were not words he would expect from any Autobot, let alone one he'd fought beside so many times.

Before the crimson warrior had the chance to reply, the green mech had took hold of his cannon with one hand and bent the front half pointing down, making Warpath's only weapon completely useless. The tankformer didn't have an astrosecond to contemplate the ruining of his recently rebuilt cannon when he got a vicious headbutt right to the face, sending him down.

Just as soon as the Warpath hit the ground, Hardhead was already right on top of him, proclaiming it was the end for Warpath. The green mech then proceeded to pound the tank-bot's faceplate hard, repeatedly, and without mercy. Warpath had seen the war veteran fight Decepticons many times, but he never seen him attack an enemy so brutally . With each hit Warpath's faceplate caved and buckled until it was a broken mess, his vision becoming blurred by the damage his optics were starting to take as well as the repeated damage warnings that were brought up by his diagnostics computer. Each pound he took hurt, but it didn't hurt nearly as much as the fact that it was coming from a mech he had long trusted and relied on in the field of battle.

When Hardhead stopped his assault, there was little that Warpath could do. His arms and legs flailed about as he tried to mount some kind of escape or attack, but with all the damage his cerebral circuits had taken there little strength or coordination in any of his movements. By now he had taken so much damage to the head, now a mangled mess of broken armor plating, cracked circuits, splattered energon and wires, that he hardly felt anything.

"yerrr......yerrrrrrrrr nnnnnnnn,", was all that Warpath could weakly spit out from his broken vocal processor, just before Hardhead ripped his broken head from the rest of his body with little effort. It was an indescribable pain, followed by a feeling of complete numbness as his systems could do nothing but fail.

ye're......not.......Hard......head......, was the last think Warpath could think while his sensors sputtered offline, as his former war buddy lifted his head up and laughed, only to toss it aside as if it were just another piece of garbage. As his body flailed around without direction before shutting down from the loss of energon gushing out of his neck, Warpath went completely offline just before his head hit the ground.

*

Saferoute had pulled out her laser rifle as she got the response from Ricochet- not the response she wanted to hear though, and if they both lived this whole mess she would make sure to slap him for calling her 'sweetspark'. But that was the last thing she could think of. She cautiously moved to the edge of cover, to see what was happening with the two warriors still out in the open. Her jaw dropped as she just managed to see Hardhead rip Warpath's head off with little effort.

Oh no, Warpath! They're not slagging around here, and none of the other Autobots even know where we are! Oh slaggit I'm an idiot for getting involved in all this, what was I thinking?

The busformer was quickly caught by surprise as Hex made his presence known, having snuck right next to her. Startled she quickly turned toward the young mech, aiming her rifle right at his head.

"Don't move!", she threatened, "Who says I'm hiding?"

Saferoute stood up as tall as she could, in a vain attempt to intimidate Hex with her larger size. She looked over him, remembering the earlier warning from Ricochet about Hex and the other backstabbers being more powerful. She had already seen the war veteran Hardhead rip Warpath apart without straining a servo, so it may well have been more than just an overreaction from the marksman. But as far as Saferoute could tell there wasn't any significant physical difference in the young mech in front of her.

"So this was all just a trap for us from the beginning, wasn't it?", she asked as she kept her finger close to her gun's trigger, "I should have known something was rotten if you were a part of it, Unicron's Spawn!"

Saferoute began to shake her head in disbelief. She had come down here to fight Decepticons, in retaliation for all the innocent lives they had killed, especially those in El Dorado. Regardless of how much of a punk he was or how many times she'd wanted to slap him for oft-handed remarks, she never thought she would have to fight a fellow Autobot. As much as she hated to think it, this would have been easier for her if some Earth creature were in danger.

"You know what the worst part is? There was actually a few times that I thought there was a good bot in you. If a decent mech like Axle would take you under his wing, then you couldn't be all bad, right?", with a little of disgust, she aimed her rifle even more carefully at Hex's cranial chamber, "I'll bet that's what you're really looking forward too, isn't it? When you see the look on Axle's face when he finds out what a complete piece of slag you are."

She shook her head, she couldn't hesitate. This wasn't an Autobot anymore, this was a traitor and an enemy. And he was much faster than she was, so if she was going to do anything she had to do it while he was still close. He audio sensors began to pick up the sound of explosions, hitting different areas around them. It was probably enemy artillery, Decepticon reinforcements. If she wanted to survive she needed to take him out now, before they were too heavily outnumbered.

Saferoute didn't have anything more to say. Gritting her teeth, she resisted the urge to shut her optics, and fired right at Hex's head.

>>Blitzwing and Astrotrain! We need to stop the Autobots from getting to the construction site! Take it to ‘em in the sky!<< Ramjet had ordered.

Astrotrain wasn't exactly sure what to make of Ramjet's little burst of...what was that, anyway? Leadership? Odd. Or maybe not. Maybe with Megatron out of the picture, everyone who had even half an inkling of carrying the Decepticon banner was going to try to do it.

Blitzwing, for his part, had decided that the better course of action was to shift gears and start attacking whatever Autobots were here instead of their fellow Decepticons who were trying to prevent their departure. Eh. Might as well.

"All right. Autobots it is. It's what we always come back around to, right?" Astrotrain said, activating the thrusters in his feet and lifting himself slowly in to the air even as energy blasts continued to burst through the water around them. Ramjet's course of action seemed as good as any.

This next part was going to hurt. He could already feel it.

Getting himself some aerial momentum, he transformed in to his shuttle mode--grunting in pain as he did so, from the damage that he had already sustained--and fired off another burst of thruster energy. He wouldn't keep pace with a Seeker like Blitzwing pretty much could, but he could do his part.

Swindle had sent him a transmission. Oil Slick had sent him a transmission—though to be fair, it was a general message dispatched to all Decepticons within a certain vicinity. But it still counted, as far as Blitzwing was concerned. And now Ramjet, of all mechs, had sent him a transmission.

Quite the hive of activity, their “secret” location had become. Even though Swindle's transmission pertained to the Triple Changers' escape and how he claimed he could free Blitzwing and Astrotrain from their predicament, the other two contained startling information relating to the Autobots and their unexpected visit. All messages were linked to violence in one way or another.

So, as Blitzwing thought, quite the hive of activity. And not the sort beneficial to the construction of their base. Their secret base, that was. Tucked away in a secret location. Being steadily built in secret.

Blitzwing would have loved to have made a grand joke out of that, if it weren't for the fact that their current situation required a serious approach. It rankled him immensely to admit it, but these Autobots, however small in number, could do some damage. They could destroy what progress had been achieved on their headquarters thus far. They could even take out a few of his comrades if the opportunity presented itself.

Blitzwing knew all the advantages the element of surprise possessed; he himself had favourably employed them many times before on the battlefield, success synonymous with the carnage he wrought. But the Autobots were not going to exploit them on this pitiful foray of theirs. Because they had been discovered. And they were going to be annihilated for their insolence.

Still, that didn't mean Blitzwing couldn't have a little fun while engaged in conflict. Contrary to popular belief, it wasn't all business, especially when one viewed fighting how he did. Oh, no.

The commando smirked as Astrotrain agreed with his proposed idea. Good old Astrotrain. He was incapable of letting Blitzwing down.

When his friend transformed into shuttle mode, Blitzwing quickly took to the air and also transformed, his physique fluidly shifting and shaping into an F-15E Strike Eagle. A decent battle awaited him.

Vortex bobbed briefly as his sensors took in the descent of rubble from the impact sites where his water twisters had bombarded the cliff face. While he had not made direct contact, he knew his actions had placed a fear into the back of the processors of the Triple Changers. Disobey and feel the full force of the hurricane, it was a simple approach that did not require refinement... much to his dissatisfaction. But it was still effective.

Cutting his station keeping props, Vortex allowed himself to release what ballast he had and drifted up to the surface of the tumultuous sea. His primary rotor spun at its full force to push a mass of water down as he dried out his internal engines and intakes. Once his readings were in the clear, the Combaticon copter released his air break and shot up nearly a dozen feet over the next crashing wave. His sensors pinged the slightly stunned Triple Changers who had each halted their mad dash to freedom.

Vortex pivoted on his keel and headed over towards the duo, his weapons hidden yet armed, ready for potential confrontation with the two larger Decepticons. There was something to be said for being smarter than the average brute,

He pegged a channel to the Triple Changers just as the first burst of laser and cobalt fire erupted in the near distance where some of the patrol units had been stationed. His sensors immediately swung over to detect a bevy of enemy signals on the far perimeter. "Autobots? Here... Scrap it. Ever get that feeling Starscream is some how responsible for their detecting this location?" He spoke into the open channel to all Decepticons who were now connected to the primary combat link.

The interrogator swung back and forth and secured the airspace, at least the Autobots failed to bring air cover. That would make wiping them out all the easier. His weapons emerged from their under carriage and locked into their pivoting turret positions. The Combaticon sent a charge of energy into his turbine and launched toward the heaviest battle zones.

As he approached the skirmish where the Autobot Tanks were laying down something, Vortex fired two thermal rockets from his launcher pods and then gave them a boost with a burst of concentrated air funnels. "You Autobots are fools for trying to take on us with only a handful of scrap piles."

How amusing. The thought quickly filled Darkride’s processor as he watched the expression on Ricochet’s face give away his thoughts…he looks so overwhelmed with confusion. I will have to clarify things for him.

Darkride kept up his speed quickly closing the distance between him and the Autobot gunner. The childish taunts bounced off the torturer’s hide as if they were nothing. What Darkride did not want bouncing off of his light exterior was the life blood that flowed through this particular mech’s body.

Thoughts of Ricochet flailing beneath him…energon and oil and lubricants splattering over him in unrecognizable shapes…those thoughts had the interrogator literally salivating. With a broad frothy smile Darkride watched while the black and gold mech raised his weapon and let loose a barrage of just over two dozen explosive shells.
So very amusing.

The hellfire that rained down upon his location hardly gave him pause but it also provided Darkride with plenty of cover what with the dirt and debris that the explosions kicked up. Darkride slowed his progress giving him enough time to change his direction and lunge forward.

From the plume of dust the slim Decepticon leapt forth optics blazing a deep crimson…teeth bared…clawed hands extended.

Darkride’s leap got him close enough to swipe out with his left hand. If he was actually as close as he hoped he would slice open a gaping wound in Ricochet that would probably never heal. What fun.
____

As soon as Saferoute turned to face him Hex threw up his hands and feigned surprise. With his optics wide and his body quivering the young mech stammered back slightly.

“Wait! Don’t! Please!”

Thankfully, for the bus-former, she held off long enough to spew forth some sort of monologue. Why was it when someone has the perfect opportunity to kill an opponent they suddenly become engrossed in their own voice and fail to off their enemy? So stupid.

Hex was only half listening as he flashed Saferoute a surprised look and shook his head. He quickly stopped his head’s movement when she mentioned Axle. This was terrible…her using his guardian as some kind of road block. As though just hearing the medic’s name would somehow end this whole ordeal.

The surprised look on Hex’s face quickly faded and was replaced by a broad evil smile. The young mech slowly lowered his hands and shook his head lightly from side to side.

“You know what I’m really looking forward to? I’m looking forward to seeing his face in my hands after I tear it from his cranium.”

The smile on his face grew wider as he stepped forward. The shot that Saferoute fired was easily dodged by just tilting his head ever so slightly to the right. Even after the shot had been fired Hex kept advancing until he was standing only inches from the barrel of her rifle.

Hex let his smile falter as he gazed up at the femme. His optics met hers as he slowly took hold of the gun’s barrel, keeping it steady, and pressed his forehead against it.

“Please, Saferoute. Help me.”

He made sure to modulate his vocalizer to simulate the sound of a scared young mech desperate for help. The rouse…play on her sympathies; make her believe that he’s not in control of his own faculties…that he wasn’t responsible for what he’d been doing. After he gained her trust then, and only then, would he tear her apart…slowly.

“Please! I just…I just want it…I just want it to stop!”

Ricochet watched as his shells detonated all around the approaching Darkride, consuming the interrogator in a large cloud of sand and debris. Surely, the torturer wouldn’t be able to dodge all of those explosions and would be brought down in a crumpled heap of burning scrapmetal. Unfortunately, the gunner’s view of his target was now obscured by the cloud, but that didn’t prevent his imagination from running wild with delightful glee. However, that premature happiness was short lived as Darkride leapt from the plum of dust with the intent of inflicting a deep wound somewhere on the expert marksman’s framework utilizing a set of razor sharp claws.

“Holy slag!!” Ricochet exclaimed as he attempted to jump back, but his own leap wasn’t quite good enough as he felt Darkride’s nails slash across the flame decoration that adorned his chestplate. The gunner toppled backwards, landing on his aft with a thud. Wasting no time, the black and gold mech immediately rolled over before scrambling to his feet. Glancing briefly down at the wound, Ricochet could tell that the damage appeared to be moderate and didn’t penetrate any vital parts underneath. It bled energon, but not enough to drain him dry any time soon.

The marksman looked back up and glared over at his supernatural adversary. “There’s no way a normal ‘Con could’ve survived that kind of bombardment without any injuries to show for it. And you did so twice now! What the frag are you, Darkride?” Not caring if he got an answer or not, Ricochet’s processor quickly formulated his next move and it was one he hated doing regardless of the situation.

Realizing that he was too close to Darkride to use his shoulder cannon again, and was otherwise weaponless, the gunner had no other choice but to retreat. Ric was a sharpshooter, after all, not a melee fighter. He was simply no match for the sheer speed and agility of the super-powered interrogator. The black and gold mech needed to get distance between himself and his target and the only way to do that was to run.

With the other Decepticons approaching from the sea and already firing at them, the only direction Ricochet could go was further inland. Putting one foot in front of the other as quickly as he could, the black and gold mech turned and ran until he was finally off of the beach and onto solid ground again. It was then that he transformed into his Porsche 997 Turbo alt mode and sped even further away from the torturer. It didn’t take long for Ricochet to spot the entrance of a cave, the same one that the Constructicons had previously dug out and used for a short time as a storage chamber. Of course, the gunner had no inkling of the cave’s history nor did he care. It was a place of refuge to him and nothing more.

Racing towards the makeshift cavern, Ricochet hoped that he could reach cover in time before Darkride eventually caught up to him.
_________

Hardhead watched in amusement as Ricochet’s bombardment did nothing to stop Darkride from his advance, leaving the gunner with little choice but to tuck tail and run away like a cowardly simpleton. Soon all Cybertronians would run and hide just like the marksman, but it would do none of them any good. Their fates were sealed and all would ultimately become one with oblivion. It was simply a matter of time and patience.

Letting out a low chuckle, Hardhead smiled and nodded his head at Darkride. The chase was one, but the war veteran had no intention of giving aid to his fellow herald as there was really no need to. The interrogator could handle things well enough on his own and the green warrior fully expected him to come back with Ricochet’s head, along with other parts of his anatomy, as souvenirs. The gunner’s cranium, especially, would go nicely alongside Warpath’s own severed noggin. What a set they would make, one that would expand into an entire collection as more and more Cybertronians fell to the heralds' power.

Turning his attention towards the Yellow Sea, Hardhead watched as more Decepticons approached the beach with the intent to engage them. Most came by air, disguised as Earthen military and space vehicles, while others fired at them from the depths of the sea. Cowards, like the fleeing Autobot gunner that would soon meet his maker. One ‘Con in the form of a helicopter opened fire on the shore, a pair of thermal rockets streaking towards their intended destination. One of the projectiles was heading directly for the green herald’s position.

Making no attempt to move out of the way, Hardhead transformed back into his Stryker Armored Vehicle mode and let loose a single shell from his cannon. Within moments, the explosive struck its target, destroying the missile in a fiery, mid-air display as the other one headed for a different part of the beach. The war veteran then opened fire again, sending three additional shells directly at the approaching Vortex, another interrogator but one without the benefits of being a herald.

Bottom of the Yellow Sea

>>”You got it, boss!”<< Long Haul responded in a simple transmission to Scrapper before transforming back into dump truck mode and finding a place in one of the trenches that the Combaticons had dug around the construction site earlier. Onslaught’s orders were to dig in and that’s exactly what the green transport was going to do. While Long Haul was known mostly for being a heavy lifter, he also carried a rather impressive dual rocket launcher while in vehicle mode, one that could fire heat-seeking missiles from a reasonable distance.

Those launchers were now deployed on either side of the green Caterpillar 775G dump truck with Long Haul taking careful aim at the shoreline. He was an above-average shot when it came to accuracy, so there was an excellent chance that he would at least hit the beach. Of course, the enemy’s heat signatures would guide the transporter’s rockets the rest of the way, thus improving his chances of making a kill. Unfortunately, any ‘Cons that were also in the area were susceptible to potential friendly fire, but it was a risk that needed to be taken in order to protect the partially completed base.

With his sights set, Long Haul unleashed four heat-seekers that quickly ascended from the depths of the sea and broke the water’s surface, heading directly at the shoreline. With any luck, some unsuspecting Autobot would find themselves on the receiving end of a mere heavy lifter’s weapons fire.

Oh Shore

"No!", Saferoute shouted in shock as Hex easily dodged her rifle shot. She may not have been a sharpshooter, but at such a close range it seemed unlikely anyone could avoid it. She cursed herself for talking so long before firing.

She cocked her rifle, ready to fire another round, when the young mech did something unexpected; he came closer to her, the arrogant look on his face gone, put the barrel of her rifle up to his cranial chamber, and pleaded for her to finish him.

"What?", she said confused, "I..... I don't....."

She shook her head in further disbelief as he looked directly into her optics. It was a look of suffering that she had seen countless times before, by so many animals that had been caught in the middle of her race's war. Moosebots whose legs had been blown off by landmines, dynametal ducks who'd been hit by anti-aircraft missiles because they were mistaken for seeker airstrikes. Most of all he reminded Saferoute of her own pet Wirewhiskers, after the poor cyberat had caught cyberabies when she was bit by an escaped Decepticon experiment. It was the same frightening look, begging for an end to suffering.

I don't want to do this..... not to another animal, not even to a traitor....

She remembered the pain she'd felt when she had brought all those creature's their desired end. It was something she did her best to forget, and for the most part she did. But now?

"You want it to stop?", she asked rhetorically, doing her best to ignore the increasing amount of explosive artillery around them, "You want me to help you?"

Looking deep into the scouts optics and wondered. Was he really not in control of his actions? Or was this just another rouse to trick her? She couldn't be sure. But either way, as disgusted as it made her, she would do what she had to.

"All right, I'll help you Hex.", she said as she shut off her optics, "And may Primus have mercy on your spark.", she pulled the trigger on her rifle.

Bottom of the Yellow Sea--Construction Site

Onslaught almost couldn't believe what he was seeing. Certain members of his unit seemed to be itching for battle far more than he had calculated and now were functioning in practically direct defiance of his orders. The rush of battle had the tendency to overtake any soldier, but Onslaught was sure that he had trained his unit better than that. If not, those that were straying were about to get a little battlefield reminder.

>>"I said FALL BACK! NOW!!!!"<< Onslaught's voice roared over the internal comm, threatening to shatter the audio receiver. >>"The base is our priority. Our only priority. If the Autobots want it, they have to come down here and get it!"<<

If the Combaticons and the others allowed their positions to be divided, it would only increase the Autobots' opportunity to pick them off as well as increase the construction site's vulnerability. Neither of which were acceptable alternatives for the Combaticon Commander.
___

As soon as it became evident that a battle was occurring, Mixmaster was hardly surprised that Bonecrusher wanted to be a part of it. Of all the Constructicons, he was the one who seemed like he would be just as happy serving as a Combaticon. Or maybe a Terrorcon. He liked combat. And Mixmaster found him to be pretty terrifying when he wanted to be. Either/or, really.

"You, uh, you do that, heheheheh," Mixmaster chuckled before returning to the task at hand. Whatever was going on, no one had ordered him in to battle. And the Autobots, wherever they were, were hardly storming the trenches down here. All of that suited Mixmaster just fine.

On he worked, ensuring that the base came together, both slowly and surely.

Oil Slick continued his rapid retreat towards the sea, but it was difficult. His alternate mode was slowed by the unstable coastal surface he was driving on, causing him to skid and occasionally get stuck. The situation was not helped by the various shells and lasers flying around him and impacting nearby. As the Decepticon finally drew closer to the safety of the water a sonic shell struck nearby. The sonic shockwave from it was enough to flip him over, sending him hurtling uncontrollably towards the water.

The relatively light weight Decepticon struck the water fast and hard, actually skipping once before landing and slipping beneath the surface. A low groan emerged from the motorcycle before Oil Slick shifted back to his robot form. It took him a moment to regain his bearings as he slowly dropped through the water. He was receiving various signals from the surrounding Decepticons and after the blow he had taken it was a bit hard to focus. He thought he heard Onslaught’s voice among them and so he addressed him.

>>”There are multiple Autobots on the surface, warrior builds from what I saw. Definitely an attack force and they were well aware of our presence and nearly ambushed us. Darkride has been taken prisoner and I barely escaped.”<<

Bottom of the Yellow Sea

The fact that the triplechangers seemed to have at the very least paused their fire brought a smile to Swindle’s face. He still had it. Not that he had every doubted his bargaining skills, but it had been a little too long since he had gotten to put them to good use. While this wasn’t exactly the ideal situation he felt he could still manage to pull a profit out of it. Certainly the two triples would owe him, big time, and he would definitely collect on that. Astrotrain alone could transport an impressive amount of ‘merchandise’ that he could sell to someone like the natives. Blitzwing would make for good muscle on any sort of deal.

His thoughts were interrupted by the slightly panicked signal from Oil Slick. “What? You’ve gotta be slagging me!” Autobots showing up now just screwed up the whole equation. The triples would probably rather fight Bots then fellow Cons so they would just charge in against them. Little things like disobeying orders were easily forgiven and forgotten when under surprise attack. With that forgotten his whole bit of negotiating would be forgotten as well and he lost all leverage. Now the best he could likely hope for was some salvage from dead Autobots, or mostly dead Autobots. Actually Decepticons would work too as long as no one was looking.

When the order to fall back came through Swindle was more then happy to obey it. He wasn’t a coward really, but he preferred selling guns then getting shot at by them. Let the goons like Brawl soak up all the hits for him. That’s what he was there for after all. The Combaticon transformed and shot off the man the innermost defensive position.

Hook sighed as the message came through about Autobots attacking. “How typical. It seems I am never to be allowed to conduct surgery in a peaceful and stable environment.” The situation around him didn’t really matter at this point. He was elbows deep in Scavenger’s inner workings. He could just pull out and close him up now. At best it would leave the other Constructicon partially functional at best, and he wasn’t about to leave this as a half afted job, so he continued his work.

His hands moved quickly but precisely as he modified certain sections of Scavenger’s internal structure. It was necessary to allow for the new transformation. It was also the easier job and quickly completed. The surgical engineer then plunged into the more delicate work of modifying his neural pathways. Scavenger would need to be able to receive direct neural input from his connection to the rest of them as Devastator and to send output back. It was an entirely unique operation and one Hook found fascinating. He might have almost enjoyed it if a battle wasn’t stirring up around them.

The Constructicon didn’t even look up at Scrapper as he replied to his commander. “I need another minute to complete the new neural connections. Then its just a matter of sealing him back up and bringing him back online. Fortunately with what I’ve gained from this first procedure the future operations will go quicker.” His voice took on its typical annoyed tone as he continued. “At least assuming we are not under attack during those as well.”

The sound of tearing metal and the warm feel of energon only fueled Darkride’s desire to take Ricochet down perminately, but he promised his young brother that he would have the honor of doing that. It was still tempting. Right now all the slim, lithe herald could do was relish the look of absolute confusion that crossed the Autobot sharpshooter’s face.

The sound of Harhead’s low chuckle drew the torturer’s attention and in return to his brother’s gesture, Darkride nodded…a wicked smirk on his face.

Darkride never bothered answering Ricochet’s question. Instead the interrogator dimmed his optics raised his energon covered claws and licked them clean.

“Mmm, still warm just how I like it.”

Unfortunately Ricochet didn't stick around to finish what he started. A very big disappointment to say the least.

He decided to give his Autobot prey the benefit of the doubt and waited half a breem before he set out on a most delightful hunt. With a broad demented smile on his face Darkride began to walk off in the same direction the black and gold mech had escaped in. Once the distinct sound of a powerful engine was heard the small ‘Con converted to his Suzuki Hayabusa alt mode and sped off.

Darkride was able to catch up with his target just in time to see him racing toward the cave that the Constructicons had used to store their materials and equipment for the construction of the Decepticon base. Stopping several hundred yards from the cave’s entrance Darkride transformed back to his robot mode and watched. He would rather resume his hunt while Ricochet was trapped in the cave…it would make things go so much faster.

His optics remained glued to the Porsche’s rear as it finally reached the mouth of the cave. With a smile plastered on his face Darkride brought his still energon stained claws up to optic level where he regarded them for a moment and then lowered them to his forearm and took a vicious swipe. His face contorted first in pain and then in ecstasy. Old habits die hard.

The routine was completed when he licked his claws clean of his own energon.

Ricochet! I am coming for you and I will catch you! Be forewarned Cybertronian, you will suffer! I have much planned for you!”

His point made, Darkride drew his shrapnel rifle and began to stalk toward the cave’s entrance…a wide toothy grin on his visage.

Now the killing can begin.
____

The desperate expression that Hex had given Saferoute remained as did his hand on the barrel of her gun. The femme was just too predictable. Doing the humane thing to put him out of his misery was just what the young herald was banking on and when she shut down her optics and pulled the trigger Hex smirked.

A split second before the blast escaped the barrel the herald released the weapon and bent backwards at the waist letting the shot fly just above his now parallel body. With her weapon discharged...and before she could pull the trigger again...Hex took hold of the barrel and yanked it from Saferoute's grip sending the gun flying across the shore.

"Saferoute, there's something you don't know...there is no misery here."

Though Astrotrain was primarily following Ramjet for the moment and keeping a close optic on Blitzwing's signal, it wasn't overly difficult to lock in on the other Decepticon signatures in the area that were operating above sea-level. As he drew closer the triple-changer was surprised by what he found.

So, it really was a battle and there really were Autobots. Astrotrain wasn't for sure why he was surprised but he was.

Locking in on Vortex's position, Astrotrain quickly found the closest mechanoid not bearing a Decepticon signature and opened fire.

"Wrong time to come here, Autobrat," Astrotrain taunted as he fired, using a term that he had long ago picked up from Blitzwing.

The black and gold porsche reached the mouth of the cave just in time as his sensors detected that Darkride was not far behind. The seemingly supernatural ‘Con was small and fast, especially in his motorcycle alt mode, allowing him to quickly catch up to the fleeing Autobot. Thankfully, Ricochet somehow managed to make it to cover before the interrogator had reached him or even opened fire. As it were, the sadistic torturer had stopped a good distance away from his prey where he transformed and watched like a Predacon enjoying the thrill of the hunt.

Likewise, Ricochet returned to his own robot mode and swiftly darted into the cavern, slamming his back against the rocky wall near the entrance. He took a quick peek around the edge just in time to see Darkride slash at his own forearm before licking his claws clean of the split energon. Well, that’s really disgusting! Yuck! The gunner had already despised the interrogator for not only being a ‘Con but for his grotesque methods of torture and depravity. This self mutilation was just one more reason to hate him and perfectly illustrated why Darkride truly was the worst of the worst amongst the Decepticons. In all actuality, the torturer was a worthy companion to Hex, who seemed to fit the same mold on the Autobot side.

When Darkride finally began his approach with his shrapnel rifle drawn and ready, Ricochet ducked back behind cover just as the torturer’s taunts filled his audio receptors. The way that the Decepticon’s voice sounded sent a shiver down the gunner’s framework, and very little actually scared him. However, after everything he had recently seen the interrogator do and survive, it was no wonder that fear had finally crept into the marksman’s circuits, if only just a little.

Not willing to give up, Ricochet readied his shoulder cannon once again. Even though he had been unsuccessful in the past, one of his shells would have to hit their target eventually. Statistically speaking, it was impossible not to. Then again, if this was some kind of supernatural being the black and gold mech was now facing, anything could happen. It was that possibility which made the gunner realize that beating this enemy was not as important now as surviving to fight another cycle.

“You’re coming for me are you?” Ricochet called out as he emerged from the mouth of the cave, standing his ground against an unknown force that appeared to be a normal Decepticon. “Well, here I am, Darkride, you worthless piece of slag! Come and get me!” Without warning, the marksman crotched down and launched several more explosive shells directly at the approaching interrogator, hoping that statistics would be on his side this time.

Of course, the black and gold mech wasn’t going to wait around to find out. Instead, he quickly retreated back into the underground cavern where he then turned around towards the sunlight and launched one more shell at the rocky ceiling above the entrance. The marksman dove for cover as an explosion shook the chamber, causing a cave-in that sealed the mouth of the chamber closed and enveloped the gunner in total darkness. It was not the ideal situation to be in, but at least the super-powered ‘Con could not reach him now.

With a small light on the side of his cranial unit illuminating the dark cavern, Ricochet picked himself off the ground and brushed the dirt from his chassis. He then activated his homing beacon that would allow his Autobot comrades to eventually locate and rescue him. In the meantime, all he could do was wait for help to arrive and hope that Darkride didn’t eventually find a way inside.

On Shore – Abandoned Storage Cave

With a sadistic smile spread across his face, Darkride watched while Ricochet transformed back to his root mode and darted into the cavern. Such a coward. Afraid to face me like a real mech. Darkride let out a low laugh while continuing to keep his distance. He was certainly fast enough to make it to the cave and out quicker than the gunner could possibly comprehend. Besides, he had time to toy with his prey…and play he would.

As soon as Ricochet’s retreating form had vanished Darkride raked his clawed hand over his chestplate sending a grating screech to float around the immediate area. He then began to advance toward his intended target but was stopped in his tracks by the desperate mech’s call from the mouth of the cave.

“Welcoming death. Such a noble gesture, Ricochet!”

With a renewed sense of glee Darkride accepted the Autobot’s challenge and began his forward movement once more. There was no reason not to end his life quickly…of course it was so much more fun to draw these experiences out as long as possible. Mayhap he could put to use his slew of unused torture devices…oh such a delicious prospect.

The very thought of seeing this elusive mech strung up by his innards sent an erotic shiver throughout the interrogator’s body.

“Ohhh, I am going to cherish every scream and every twitch that I elicit from that frame of yours, Ricochet.”

Darkride moaned lowly as he shut down his optics if only to see the picture more clearly in his mind. He quickly onlined his optics in time to see the slew of explosive shells that were headed in his direction. The slim dark purple mech let out a boisterous guffaw as he deftly avoided the first two by executing a series of impressive backflips accompanied by several tight twists of his laid out body. Darkride landed lightly on his feet and ended in a deep crouch... the remaining shells over shooting to land a considerable distance behind him.

He suddenly noticed the entrance of the cave slowly closing in as Ricochet decided to seal himself in attempting to keep from facing his inevitable end. It wouldn't help. In actuality the black and gold mech had sealed his fate…literally.

Darkride had a broad smile frozen on his face as he darted through the cave’s opening just before the last boulder crashed into place. The speed with which he had traveled left no trace of his form, instead only a blur rushed past Ricochet before the cave was enveloped in total darkness.

While the Autobot tried to situate himself and settle in to wait for help, Darkride took to circling around the mech making no sound. Once he was in position directly behind his new plaything he slowly stepped back until he was pressed against the rocky wall of the cave. Silently the interrogator began to scale the wall. He stopped once he was poised directly above the black and gold mech. He was unwilling to give his position away just yet but he simply couldn’t pass up the opportunity to play with his newly acquired toy.

“Will you scream for me, Ricochet? Will you let me show you what real pain feels like?”

Darkride modulated his vocalizer so that the sound waves bounced from on area of the cave to another making it nearly impossible for his prey to pinpoint his exact location.

“I want to enjoy myself, Ricochet. Will you promise me that I will enjoy myself?”

Ever so carefully Darkride lowered to the floor and moved in closer stopping directly next to Ricochet’s right audio sensor…he spoke but his voice was low and lecherous.

“I can make it enjoyable for you as well, Ricochet. Tell me it is what you want…what you desire.”

And again the interrogator was gone, but not before running a sharp claw gently down the side of the mech’s face.

Ricochet waited in the darkness, his only source of light coming from the side of his cranial unit. There wasn’t much to see, however, as the cave was mostly empty save for a few scattered tools and bits of debris lying about on the ground. It was stuff that was likely left behind when the Constructicons had transported their equipment down to the bottom of the Yellow Sea. Of course, the gunner had no knowledge of that until he noticed a Decepticon emblem on a small piece of broken metal lying nearby.

“Fantastic,” the expert marksman muttered sarcastically to himself as he glanced down at the metallic bit. “The ‘Cons were once here. Probably used this place for storage. Judging by the discarded tools, I’d say it was the Constructi....” Ricochet’s verbal thoughts were interrupted by the sound of Darkride’s voice echoing all around him. “What the slag?! That’s impossible! You can’t be in here!” The black and gold mech felt a sense of terror fill his circuits as he spun around, desperately searching for the source of the taunts. He’d been in tight situations before, but never like this, never trapped with a deranged and seemingly supernatural torturer that he could not see. This cave was supposed to be his sanctuary and now it had become a death trap.

No matter how hard he tried, Ricochet could not pinpoint Darkride’s exact location within the chamber as his grating vocals seemed to be coming from everywhere. Only when the interrogator whispered directly into his audio receptor before scratching his faceplate with a clawed actuator did the expert marksman finally have a bearing on his enemy. Ignoring the slight pain that he felt from the facial wound, Ricochet instantly spun around and lashed out with his right arm, hoping to strike the crazed mech in the faceplate or anywhere for that matter. The gunner hit nothing, of course, and saw nothing, either. “Where are you, Darkride?!” Ricochet shouted, his own voice now echoing off of the walls of the cave. The black and gold mech could feel energon beginning to trickle down his cheek from the minor cut, but he continued to ignore it. “Stop hiding in the shadows and come out and face me you sick piece of slag! If you want to torture me so badly then just do it already! What are you waiting for?!”

Ricochet then quickly knelt down into a crouching position, his right hand finding and grasping the piece of scrap metal he had previously seen adorned with a Decepticon symbol. It was jagged and came to a sharp point at one end, a perfect makeshift dagger. Considering his shoulder launcher would do him no good in such tight confines, the gunner had to make do with whatever he had available to him. Hopefully, when the interrogator decided to pounce on him, the marksman would be able to get a few good stabs in and maybe do some real damage to this supernatural mechanoid.
