Sea of Change

Earth is a beautiful planet, lush with life, overflowing with energy and ripe for the taking. The Decepticons want to conquer it and harness that energy for their own purposes. The Autobots want to keep it out of Decepticon hands. This forum contains their battles and struggles all across the planet.

>>"Primus, we're running out of ammunition! We gotta meet fast! There's hardly any cover under here! Hopefully the Dinobots don't have a gestalt mode of their own. That would be a hassle!"<<

Yes, time was most definitely of the essence. If they allowed one of their components to be taken out prematurely, that would be exceedingly problematic.

>>"I know! I didn't happen to stop off at the armory on the way down! I didn't think we'd be fighting frag-accursed Dinobots this cycle!"<< Hook exclaimed back, doing his level best to stay functional. At the crest of the next ridge, he could once again see the base. Green figures were emerging. Thank Primus.

"There they are!"

Another explosion launched the Constructicon into the "air", even though they were all completely submerged in the Yellow Sea. Hook came to stunted crash in the muddy earth below him, kicking up another cloud of silty debris.

Around Undersea Base:

Bonecrusher transformed to robot mode when he saw the Constructicon genius get flung through the earth liquid and then hit the ground with a muffled crash. "Oh Primus, HOOK!" shouted Bonecrusher as he tried the best he could to dodge incoming firepower. Bonecrusher was about to burst. He didn't know what to do. All he knew was rage, not fast thinking. Bonecrusher felt he could hold on a bit longer, but his concern for Hook was what made him start to lose his mind.

>>WHERE THE FRAG ARE YOU SCRAPPER?! Hook is going to be blown to bits if you don't come here right now, and so might I! If one of us goes down, WE ALL GO DOWN.<<

He briefly saw Scavenger and someone else emerge from the base before he turned back around and tried to shield Hook the best as he could while the crane-former could get himself off the sea floor to hold his own just enough until combination.

>>Hook, are you damaged?!<<

Bonecrusher, for once in his cybernetic life, was starting to panic.

>>Oh Primus help us!<<

Bonecrusher ducked behind a rock as he charged his laser blaster one more time before then shooting it as powerful as he could toward the Dinobot commander's chest, but not knowing if he successfully hit target or not because of his now shaky hands and careless aim. He couldn't bear the thought of losing even one of his brothers, let alone the whole base they had put so much work into.

Bottom of the Yellow Sea – Approaching Undersea Base

Grimlock continued to charge forward through the murky water and muck that covered the sea floor. His and the other Dinobots’ advance was slowed some by the surrounding H20 but their sheer size and strength allowed them to push through much better than most mechs were able. This is what they were made for. This is what they excelled in and some filthy liquid wasn’t going to stop them from doing what they had come here to do.

A laser blast then struck Grimlock in his chest plate, doing little to slow him down. In fact, with his heavy armored plating, the Dinobot Commander barely noticed the hit. “Stupid Bonecrusher! Think you can stop me with puny laser gun? Ha!” Grimlock laughed and continued firing on the two Constructicons even as one of Swoop’s rockets had exploded near Bonecrusher, showering him with metal shards. That did little to stop Bonecrusher, though, as he returned fire at Swoop before flinging a piece of wreckage towards Snarl.

“Heads up, Snarl!” Grimlock bellowed as the Desert Warrior took notice of the incoming projectile and dodged to the left, narrowly avoiding the wreckage which only clipped one of his tail wings. Snarl then righted himself and returned fire on Bonecrusher.

Swoop, meanwhile, fired several more rockets at the Constructicons as a laser blast struck his right wing, leaving a scorch mark behind. It wasn’t enough damage to keep him grounded but if his wings sustained too many more hits like that, he would have difficulty flying. Of course, being in an underwater environment was one place where his pteranodon alt mode provided little advantage for him. Perhaps once they got inside the dome where it was dry he would be able to use his aerial beast form, assuming everything didn’t become flooded after the Dinobots broke in.

A loud roar of anger and frustration then came from Bonecrusher’s vocals as he fired off over a half dozen rockets in the Dinobots’ general direction followed by several more laser blasts. “Dinobots! Missiles incoming! Get down!” Grimlock shouted as he ceased his advance and dove faceplate-first into the slimy muck of the sea floor. The rest of the Dinobots did the same as the rockets passed over them and continued on until the missiles struck the bottom of the ridge, detonating in a series of explosions that sent shrapnel everywhere and clouded the water with soot and debris. Grimlock pushed himself up slightly and looked back towards the top of the ridge where the other Autobots had last been located. It was near impossible to see anything now due to the blackened water.

>>”Getaway, Scoop, Blaster, do you read me?! This Grimlock! Move now! Get off ridge before it collapses! Get to dome! Do you read....”<<

Grimlock’s transmission was cut short by a laser strike on his left shoulder plate. The blast did not startle him, but it did draw his attention back to the Constructicons once more. The puny Autobots were on their own. If they had survived the rocket strikes without falling and getting buried then good. If not, oh well. The Dinobots still had a battle to win and a base to destroy regardless.

The rex-former pushed himself the rest of the way up from the muck and stood tall over the underwater battlefield. The two Constructicons were falling back towards the primary dome, firing sporadically as they went. At the same time, Grimlock could see other green Decepticons emerging from the dome. It was their teammates come to help. “Dinobots, get up now! They trying to get to other Constructicons. They trying to form Devastator! Stop them! Remember, only need take one out to stop combiner! Fire at will! Destroy!!”

Grimlock then charged forward again, firing his double-barreled rifle at Hook and Bonecrusher as he went while holding his energo-sword up in the other hand. Laser fire rained down all around him with some blasts hitting the rex-former’s thick armor while most missed their mark. The rest of the Dinobots had gotten back to their feet, as well, and followed their leader towards the underseas base. Snarl and Swoop indiscriminately opened fire at the Constructicons with the hope that one or more of them would be taken out of the fight for good before they could merge into Devastator.

Bonecrusher continued to fire a barrage of rockets in multiple directions in an attempt to slow down the Dinobots while the Constructicons can get near each-other for combination. Bonecrusher put away his laser blaster since he was not only running out of firepower for it, but it was also nearly noneffective.

Bonecrusher decided to use a trick that he had forgotten about but was a bit of a clever one that he had learned in undersea battle training vorns ago. He took a metal scrap out of the sea floor, and threw it toward the Dinobots' direction. Then, when it slowed down and the Dinobots thought they had dodged a poorly-thrown attack, Bonecrusher shot a few rockets directly at the large metal scrap, blowing it to many sharp shards flying in all directions as if it were a large, underwater grenade.

Bottom of the Yellow Sea – Approaching Undersea Base

When Scavenger finally managed to make it out of the base and to the other Constructicons, things were a mess. Hook and Bonecrusher were taking a beating. And…oh Primus. Dinobots. Ah! Scavenger wasn’t the brightest bulb, but even he knew that the Dinobots were not onces to mess about with. Transforming into his alternate mode, Scavenger unleashed a volley of missiles at the Dinobots to provide some cover for his fellow Constructicons. Well, maybe it was to do that, or maybe Scavenger was just panicking. It was hard to tell for the excavator at times.

Crusher! Hook! I’m here!” Scavers called to the others. “I’m- AHHH!”

Scavenger cried out in pain as a missile landed next to him, the shockwave sending him end over end as shrapnel lodged itself firmly into his armor plating. He backpedaled a bit as more laser fire from the Dinobots and oncoming Autobots showered down at him. Transforming back into robot mode to dance away in a panic from a hail of laser fire, Scavenger drew his laser pistol and opened fire himself.

Blaster chuckled from his position up on the cliff face above the Dinobots as the newly arrived Constructicon danced about like an idiot. Suddenly a transmission from none other than Grimlock snatched his attention away. Missiles slammed into the ridge at the same time though, causing the communications officer’s footing to become precarious. Time to move on then.

Scoop, Getaway, with me!” Blaster called, running off the side of the ridge and leaping into the cloud of debris below. >>”We’ll use the cloud of debris as cover to get into the dome while the Dinobots handle the Constructicons, dig? Let’s get a move on!”<<

Blaster fell to the seafloor with a gentle thud, glancing over in the direction of the Dinobots and Constructicons. He couldn’t really see them through all the murk and debris. Good. It meant that they couldn’t see them either. Staying low, Blaster made a move toward the dome, blaster in hand.

Long Haul emerged from the base shortly following behind Scavenger. His optical visor quickly spotted the silhouettes of the approaching Dinobot force assaulting their base. Before he could react accordingly, a slight shockwave propelled to his side, pushing debris and water against his sturdy frame. He anchored his boots into the sea floor and held his arms out in front of his faceplating to shield him from flying bits of corral as well as to prevent him from being carried off into the "air" like Scavenger just went flying.

"Heh heh! Oh now it's on boys!" The transporter roared drawing his pistol. He took a couple of shots to counter his approach Hook's prone form. "Get up you lug! We can't merge if the Autobots were able to down you so quickly!" Long Haul then grabbed ahold the crane-arm fashioned upon Hook's back before using his immense strength to throw him back up on his feet.

With his off hand free, the wannabe warrior continued to fire off into the ocean towards the incoming Autobot forces.

-

Sludge wasted no effort in returning fire once Bonecrusher began to unleash his laser blasts upon them. It made the jungle warrior laugh on the inside watching the "dulldozer" shoot at them, thinking those shots would do any sort of real harm to them. Then the green Decepticon fired off a volley of missiles into the watery environment...

"Dinobots! Missiles Incoming! Get Down!" Grimlock roared to his team, Sludge quickly taking his commander's orders and diving towards the ground floor. Sludge lifted his head from the slimy sea floor and watched the dust settled around him. The jungle warrior attempted to lumber back up to his feet, only to find it would be easier to shift to his apatosaurus mode instead. Once the long-necked beast form was achieved, the Dinobot trudged his way through the muck of the undersea with a great sense of ease, firing off lasers once more to keep Grimlock's advance going strong.

"Constructo-cons make it look like Swerve is a good shot!" Sludge taunted aloud, whether to demoralize his foes or to boost the camaraderie of his fellow Autobots.

This was not ideal. All this water, the sea life and unstable sand. Nope. Not ideal at all. But Slag had to admit this was much more exciting than sitting up on the Trion playing with a computer terminal. At least now he could cause some actual carnage….get his servos drenched in the energon of the enemy! Oh yes! This was going to be fun!

“Dinobots! Missiles incoming! Get down!”

HA! Like hell, Grims. Slag thought as he ignored Grimlock’s order to keep out of range. If he was gonna go out he’d make sure it was in a blaze of glory.

Of course after the missiles hit he was still on his feet. His audios were ringing, but he was still headed towards his destination. That destination being any unaware ‘Con.

And there it was. “Got you now slagheap.” Slag grumbled as he sped up his pace making straight for Long Haul. “AGHHHHHH!”

Bottom of the Yellow Sea: Near Undersea Dome Alpha

Scoop activated the miniature hydro pulse jets protruding from his hip joints, allowing puffs of compressed water to slow his descent into the devolving panic at the main entrance of the Decepticon dome. Two pulses soon followed as he neared designated landing zone where Blaster had set up for their first incursion into the fortified area. Quietly the soldier touched down, out of the line of sight of the Constructicons, who's attentions were collectively focused on the larger targets of the Dinobots.

"Could not have asked for a bigger distraction if we had brought Smokescreen himself," he muttered to himself as he spun around and pressed his back against the partially rusted hulk of a Japanese freighter. His combined weapon was reversed and primed as he rested it against his left shoulder. With his right hand, he pulled out a portable scanner and immediately leaned it around the rusted bulkhead to begin scanning of the dome structure.

His optics furrowed briefly as he glanced down at the readings. "Friend or Foe identifier sensors to allow access through a semi permeable membrane." Scoop flipped the scanner over towards Blaster and pulled back a small toggle on his combined weapon. A light vibration within the weapon signifying internal calibrations to adjust for the diffusion effects of underwater combat.

"Any ideas on how to get passed that first obstacle?"

Bonecrusher was glad to see Long-Haul appear finally. Now he had a bit of relief to be able to comm something to Scrapper as he landed behind some cover.

    >>Scraps, what if this is a distraction, and some other Bots have a different plan up their sleeves? We need to pay attention! If we lose the base, there's no point in even fighting without retreat! I am beginning to think that we shouldn't combine till we get some reinforcements! What's our plan of action?<<

Bonecrusher bolted up over the rock he was taking cover behind and shot a few more rockets.

    >>Now that I think about it, what's the point in keeping the base now that the Autobots know about it? Maybe we should just retrieve anything that we don't want the Autobots to use and then abandon the base?<<

The chaos was rising with every astrosecond that passed. It was the Dinobots though, so Scrapper wouldn't expect any less.

>>WHERE THE FRAG ARE YOU SCRAPPER?! Hook is going to be blown to bits if you don't come here right now, and so might I! If one of us goes down, WE ALL GO DOWN.<<

>>"No kidding, brainmech. Just keep yourself together. Literally! I'm on my way."<<

Having emerged from the base with the others that were inside, Scrapper was indeed en route. Bonecrusher sounded like he was going to have a systems overload. Scrapper was more than a little bit more in control of his emotions. But one other matter required his attention. Command formalities.

>>"Scrapper to Razorclaw--the Yellow Sea site has been discovered. We're under attack by Dinobots of all things. Perfect opportunity for a true trial run with Devastator. I'll bring you their heads, heh."<<

As Scrapper continued his forward momentum, his field of vision was becoming increasingly clouded over with a nearly impenetrable fog of silt and other Terran undersea debris.

>>"There's always a point, Bonecrusher. You more so than the rest of us should know that. You love a good fight! And...so does Devastator, heh heh."<<

Scrapper arrived just as Hook was being picked up off the ground and hoisted back to his feet. He was essentially relying on signal location now, as optical viability had been reduced to near zero. It was like waging a war in the Rust Sea back on Cybertron with its howling mineral storms.

>>You're right Scraps! Why am I sounding like Hook all-of-a-sudden!? I am so dumb!<<

Bonecrusher shot one last borage of rockets before Scrapper shouted the signal for their merging.

"Constructicons! Merge!"

As Bonecrusher transformed into arm mode, he felt the strange Earth liquid being squeezed out in-between each connection as he then jumped up with the help of the large purple fingers of this large limb, and with a crash, connected to Hook who had just connected to Long Haul, and so on.

Blaster glanced over to Scoop. So that’s how it was going to be, was it?

"Any ideas on how to get passed that first obstacle?"

“A few. Cover me, just in case we get noticed,” Blaster said, kneeling down and sliding back a panel on his arm to reveal a small console. If he could mask their signals as Decepticon, then they’d be able to get through. No sweat. Blaster had done things like this before. It just took half a breem or so to prep depending on just how many Bots they were talking. Fortunately, three was something he could manage pretty quickly.

The trick was to not broadcast the Decepticon signal. Otherwise, the Cons might catch wind of what was going on. Fortunately, by bouncing the signal between the bots and the intended target, they wouldn’t have to worry about that.

“Alright. Good to go,” Blaster said, giving Scoop a thumbs up. “Let’s roll.”

Standing, Blaster pressed his hand against the semipermeable barrier. It held against him for a moment before allowing his hand to pass through. He stuck his head in next. Coast seemed clear even. Thank you, Dinobots. Stepping through the barrier, Blaster readied his weapon and cast his optics around the dome. He glanced back at Scoop and Getaway.

“Any ideas about where to start?”

- :CON: -

Scavenger couldn’t see anything! Or hear anything with his audio receptors. The only thing that came through clear were the many, many transmissions sent out by his team. And they weren’t particularly helpful. Scavenger fell back a ways just to regain his orientation.

That was when he saw Scrapper arrive. A big smile broke out on his face. “Boss!” So many questions and words knocked around Scavenger’s head. The biggest of which he actually spoke aloud. “Boss, is it time-“

"Constructicons! Merge!"

“Whoo! Yeah!” Scavenger cheered, transforming into Devastator’s limb. It was an arm right? Yeah. An Arm. He connected to the others with his usual exuberance.

Grimlock continued to charge forward unabated as explosions erupted all around him. The underwater shockwaves from such detonations would have knocked a normal mech off of their feet, but not the Dinobot Commander. The rex-former was far too strong and sturdy to be taken down by anything the individual Constructicons could throw at him. Even when Bonecrusher threw a big piece of scrapmetal at him and then blew it up, the resulting shards did little to slow him down. Some bits became embedded in Grimlock's armored plating while others simply bounced off. But nothing went deep enough to do any real damage to the Dinobot leader's frame.

As the soot and debris around him began to clear, the rex-former could see that all of the Constructicons were now gathered outside of the primary dome. Scrapper was there and the inevitable order from him was quickly given:

"Constructicons! Merge!"

Even though the Dinobots had been trying to stop Devastator from forming, Grimlock couldn’t help but smile a little underneath his face shield. The thought of fighting a gestalt, something that could give him and his team a real challenge, was enticing to say the least. And from what the rex-former had heard about the battle with the Fallen, Devastator was a slow-moving behemoth and not very bright despite the fact that smart ‘Cons like Scrapper and Hook were a part of the combiner. Those were things that the Dinobots together could certainly take advantage of. Still, regardless of its limited intelligence and slow speed, Devastator was not to be underestimated.

Dinobots, they’re combining! Target Devastator’s joints! Try prevent them from connecting together! Take the gestalt down!!” Grimlock roared as he put away his rifle and transformed into his Tyrannosaurus Rex alt mode, his forward momentum never slowing. The Dinobot Commander's self-loading rocket launcher then swiftly moved into position on his back and immediately opened fire, sending several plasma warheads streaking towards the various connection joints where Constructicon limbs had either already merged together or were about to. Snarl and Swoop followed their leader’s orders and also fired their weapons at the green giant’s joints. With any luck, Devastator would fall apart before ever really coming together completely.

However, just in case that idea failed, the mechanical Tyrannosaur continued charging towards the merging combiner, his jaws wide open with the intent to bite down into Scrapper's metal hide and rip him in half as the Constructicon leader attempted to connect to the rest of his team. It was a long shot but certainly worth a try.

As each individual Constructicon transformed and latched on to one another, their combined forms became the increasingly easy target of the incoming fire. Smoke from rapidly-extinguished blasts began to rise from the combiner's torso. Just as Devastator began to rise, Grimlock was already stomping through the water. For better or for worse, the undersea environment did no one any favors. The gestalt held up his right arm just as Grimlock managed to chomp down on the limb.

"PREPARE FOR EXTERMINATION!"

The gestalt trudged forward, howling in rage, ready to stomp the next Autobot that came within range while attempting to dislodge the Dinobot's bite.

Bottom of the Yellow Sea – Outside Undersea Base

The mechanical Tyrannosaurus Rex had been aiming for Devastator’s right leg, which had once been Scrapper. Grimlock’s jaws were open wide and ready to chomp down, but instead of biting into the Constructicon leader, the Dinobot Commander sunk his serrated teeth into the gestalt’s right arm, which was brought up to bare at the last astrosecond.

"PREPARE FOR EXTERMINATION!"

Devastator roared with rage as the combiner trudged through the water towards the other Dinobots. Grimlock bit down harder as the green behemoth slowly lifted him off the sea floor, the rex-former hanging on to the gestalt’s forearm by the power of his jaws. As the Tyrannosaur dangled from the giant limb, Grimlock attempted to take a sizable chunk out of it, perhaps even sever the combiner’s right hand completely if he was lucky. That did not happen, of course. Instead, the effort only made the gestalt angrier.

"ANNOYING DINOBOT LEECH! EXTERMINATE DINOBOT PEST."

Devastator’s left hand suddenly replaced itself with a big drill and the gestalt began swinging it towards the Dinobot Commander. With no other options available, Grimlock opened his jaws and released his hold on the Constructicon combiner’s right forearm. The rex-former fell back and away towards the sea floor, avoiding the enormous drill and transforming back into robot mode as he went. Landing on his aft in the muck, Grimlock quickly got to his feet and drew out his energo sword, taking aim at his original target: Devastator’s right leg.

“Time to cut you down to size, Devastator!” Grimlock bellowed as he began to repeatedly swing his blade directly at the gestalt’s right leg in the hopes of doing enough damage to bring the green monstrosity to its knees.
_________

Both Snarl and Swoop ceased firing when they saw that Grimlock was dangling from Devastator’s right arm. They did not want to risk striking their commander even though he would likely not suffer too much damage if he was hit with friendly fire. Once the gestalt attacked Grimlock with a large drill, the rex-former finally let go and immediately renewed his assault by hacking away at Devastator's right leg with his sword.

“Now, that’s what me talking about,” Snarl growled, looking over to Swoop. “You keep aiming missiles at Devastator’s head. Try blind him. Me do to left leg what Grimlock doing to right.” Swoop nodded as he carefully backed away from the lumbering combiner. The bombardier then once again aimed his rocket launcher up at the green goliath and unleashed several more missiles at Devastator’s massive cranium, hoping to hit him in the face.

Snarl, meanwhile, transformed into his Stegosaurus alt mode and trudged towards the Mixmaster limb. Having avoided being stepped on, the Desert Warrior wasted no time and quickly began swinging his spiked tail repeatedly into the side of the gestalt’s left leg. With any luck the green combiner would soon be chopped down like a tree.

“Time to cut you down to size, Devastator!”

Devastator roared in frustration as the puny Dinobot somehow managed to evade his attack. The Dinobot immediately renewed his assault, hacking at Devastator’s leg as another one bludgeoned it with its tail. The Constructicon gestalt reeled back with the drill. The drill slowly churned into motion, spinning and pushing the water around it. However, being so focused on the Dinobots at his feet, Devastator completely missed Swoop’s attack. Several of the rockets found their mark, hitting Devastator square in the face.

”GRAAAHHH!!!! CRUSH DINOBOTS! GRIND INTO SCRAP!”

The drill whirred loudly as it gained speed, causing something of a vortex of water for form around it. Devastator lashed out with the spinning drill toward his feet in a sweeping motion, hoping to get at least one of the Dinobots.

Bottom of the Yellow Sea - Undersea Base

In a flash, Flamewar materialized out of a bright flash of light. She felt some of the disorientation sickness that was distinctive of travel by orbital bounce, but she refused to show it outwardly. It was still a nicer method of travel than some strategies that she’d employed over the course of the war. Her crimson optics immediately swept over the immediate vicinity. Seeing no immediate threats, she turned her senses more outward. In the distance, Flamewar could hear the dull sounds of battle. The Constructicon’s energy signatures were coming from that direction as well. She need not tell her warriors what to do. They would know. Well, maybe except for Battletrap, but he could just follow the others.

Instead, she turned to the part of her team consisting of Landgrab, Misfire, Warwolf, and Cloudbreaker. “Start closer to the fighting and work your way back,” she said pointing in the direction of the commotion. “That way if the fighting enters the dome, we’ve cleared that area already. Understand? Good. Now go.”

She stepped over to Warwolf and pulled him aside for a moment. “See that your friend doesn’t nick anything,” she whispered. Having given her orders, Flamewar stepped aside and moved to a nearby terminal that she’d spotted, bringing up a map of the facility as well as seeing what sort of information this terminal could access.

- :CON: -

Weirdwolf materialized in the same flash of light with the others. He looked to their acting commander in case she had something to add, but she did not seem to. They were simply to be off. Well, that worked for him. His keen senses had already detected where battle was ongoing. Transforming into his lupine alternate mode, he looked to Skullcruncher.

“Well, well, Dinobots. Think you handle it can?” asked Weirdwolf, goading his friend for an enthusiastic response. The tracker set off at a light jog toward the sounds of conflict, eager himself to be a part of the action. Destroy the Dinobots…My, what Decepticon wouldn’t desire the honor of having been the one to off Grimlock or one of his cohorts?

Bottom of the Yellow Sea - Undersea Base

The flash faded, that feeling of your internals being mangled out brought about what could understated as 'discomfort' when Jailbreak found himself in his new surroundings, transported and now feeling the results of suddenly blinking into existence. It took a moment for his optics to adjust to the new lighting, and something felt 'off'. Once he looked about, he could see it, this entire base encased in ocean, billions of tons of water waiting to crash down, held back by what could be called an invisible field.

And then there was the sound. The sound of battle that reverb through the water and against the protective field. The promise Flamewar made Jailbreak was being fulfilled today, and the sheer joy he felt in his spark would be expressed in his face. It was almost enough to push aside the unease of transport. Almost.

Sound's like they started without me. IF that was the case, he'd have to have a silent, high-impact conversation with Scrapper and make an example out of him for spoiling his fun. After all, it's constructicons, what do they know about REAL fighting? It was a stupid decision to have them anywhere near the Dinobots. Still, he may go easy on him, if only because the situation happened in the first place. This whole 'Devestator' thing just didn't make sense, 'roll as one' thing just felt creepy. Unstable, as Flamewar said. I'll show them unstable...

Rushing forward towards the echo of battle, Jailbreak took to his alt-mode, a big rig semi-truck with a huge spiked front grill. The sound of engine was roaring like some kind of enraged animal, the squealing of rubber burned behind him as he found himself breaking through the barrier that let him pass with little resistance. The pressure change was enormous, as he felt the weight of the ocean pushing down on him, slowing him significantly. Still, he was more 'hydro-dynamic' in this form than in robot form, so it was a start. Anything to get to the fight faster.

.........

There in the distance, a figure that seemed to be swatting at nothing. It was difficult to make out with the murkiness of the water. Turning on his head beams, Jailbreak made the discovery that took his arrogance into a choking realization. That one Bot in the distance wasn't anywhere as close as he thought, instead it was far far off. The sheer size of it was difficult for him to understand, even as explosions and crashing happened around him.

The Dinobots are fighting THAT?!
Jailbreak had a hard time shaking the shocking realization of just how massive the Constructicons have become when formed together. He struggled to even see the Dinobots around Devistator.

Wheels rolling over coral, sand and mud, it was becoming difficult for Jailbreak to move. It was forcing his engines to red-line, feeling steam bubbling out from under his hood, the cold high-pressure water around him probably being the only thing keeping him from burning out from getting into the fight.

“Well, well, Dinobots. Think you handle it can?”

”You're kidding right?” Skullcruncher smirked as he began running towards the edge of the forcefield, being unable to match the speeds Weirdwolf or Jailbreak could achieve within the dome. ”I can go toe to toe with them just fine on the surface! But now my friend - now we are in my element!”

Indeed, finally an environment where his alternative mode excelled in. While the rest were more of less forced to fight in their robot forms due to the water masses making their alternative modes useless, Skullcruncher would reap the benefits. Usually among the slowest combatant on most battlefields, he would become the most agile and perhaps even fastest one here. Oh, the Autobots were in big trouble.

Nearing the barrier, Skullcruncher jumped to the air, transformed into his crocodilian form and breached the barrier - entering the ocean with much less resistance than the other Decepticons nearby. He wasn't going to rush directly into the battle though. The others could do that. Instead he used the trail of muddy water left behind by Jailbreak to hide himself and swam after the oilthirsty rig.

Let the others grab the attention of the Dinobots. All the better to ambush them when their attention was elsewhere.

”GRAAAHHH!!!! CRUSH DINOBOTS! GRIND INTO SCRAP!”

Grimlock dove into the muck of the sea floor as Devastator’s enormous drill head came swinging down at him. Landing faceplate first, the Dinobot Commander felt the very tip of the drill scrape one of his wings as it passed by over him. The strike left a gash behind, but it was nothing that would stop the rex-former from continuing his attack.

Grimlock got back up to his feet as quickly as he could, mud and seaweed covering his entire front. Wiping the crap off his angry visage, the Dinobot leader turned back to renew his assault on the green gestalt but was immediately thrown off his feet again by the intense vortex that had been created by the behemoth’s drill head as it spun faster and faster.

Grimlock landed in the muck again, this time on his aft section. “Aaarrrrggghhhhh!!!!” The rex former roared with frustration. “Stupid Devastator! Me, Grimlock, rip you apart piece by piece!!” The enraged rex-former got back to his feet once more and launched another series of rockets at the Constructicon combiner as he charged towards the giant foe with his sword drawn.

Meanwhile, Snarl continued his assault on Devastator’s left leg, swinging his Stegosaurus tail repeated into the limb, but causing only minimal damage. The giant drill head then came around towards him, clipping one of his back plates as the vortex of water knocked him back and away from the gestalt.

The Desert Warrior quickly transformed into robot mode and got back up, keeping his distance while assessing the situation before deciding what to do next. Grimlock was already on the attack again as Swoop continued firing his rockets at the green giant. Then a brilliant white beam of light shot down through the water from above and entered the primary dome of the undersea base. Snarl immediately knew what it was.

>>“Grimlock, bounce beam just entered base. Me think it Decepticon reinforcements,”<< Snarl commed to the Dinobot leader.

Grimlock stopped his charge, having noticed the brilliance of the bounce beam through the murky water, as well. >>”Me see it, Snarl. Let more ‘Cons come. We smash all that get in our way!”<<

>>”But, Grimlock...”<<

"GAH! I SEE CAR!"

Snarl’s words were cut short by the sound of Devastator’s own vocals. The Desert Warrior focused his sensors on the direction the gestalt had just looked in and picked up several Cybertronian signatures already on approach.

>>”Grimlock, me have at least three ‘Cons coming from base. Maybe more! Can’t tell. Water preventing good sensor readings.”<<

>>”Understood. Dinobots, this Grimlock. We have company. Slag, Sludge, stop attacking Devastator and focus your assaults on the new ‘Cons. Swoop, Snarl, you two maintain your attacks on the combiner. Snarl, do something about that drill while me tear him down bit by bit! Scoop, Blaster, Getaway, bounce beam detected. Be on lookout for more 'Cons in base.”<<

Cutting his comm line, Grimlock charged forward once again towards Devastator. As Swoop continued to pound the gestalt from the front with additional missiles, the Dinobot Commander circled around behind the green giant where he transformed into his Tyrannosaurus Rex alt mode once more. Grimlock’s self-loading launcher rose into position on his back and angled up, unleashing a barrage of rockets at Devastator’s various joints. Shifting his focus, the mechanical T. Rex roared with a terrifying rage as his powerful jaws bit down on the ankle joint just above the giant Constructicon’s right foot, attempting to rip the Scrapper limb apart and bring the entire gestalt crashing down.

Snarl couldn’t help but smile at Grimlock’s renewed assault, but there was still that huge drill head to worry about. The Desert Warrior brought out his missile launcher and targeted the green combiner's left arm. “Swoop! Keep shooting at face while me take out drill!”

“You got it, Snarl!” Swoop yelled back as he continued firing rockets at Devastator’s large cranial unit.

Snarl then unleashed a half dozen rockets of his own directly at the gestalt's huge drill for a left hand, hoping he would knock it out for good.

As the others in the bounce team quickly sped toward their assigned tasks, Misfire decided to lag behind a small bit to check his surroundings.

Misfire noticed some abandoned equipment inside the base. They were sitting in some peculiarly dangerous locations. Metal boards laying down with large spikes for nails sticking up toward the ceiling.

"Quite hazardous placement, Flamewar. Looks like tasks were interrupted."

Misfire then spotted some workers hiding behind some other tool placements.

"Hey there, fellas! You might wanna get outta here. We're gonna have to bring this base down with a blast; oh yeah, and also look out for the spikes on the floor."

Scoop crossed the threshold of the semi-permeable shield at a full trot before spinning himself against the thick profile of a partially erected building wall. He decoupled his two weapons as Blaster joined him at his place of cover, the infantryman already allowing his portable sensor array to sweep across the area for nearby power drain signatures. The soldier leaned his Ion Cannon against the wall as he swept the scanner back and forth. After a moment he withdrew the scanner and observed its readings. "Well, our objective is to download the computer core information and get out... leaving the destruction of this base to Grimlock and the others."

He spun the scanner around and slapped it to his left wrist magnetic strip and set it to passive mode. As he toggled the weapons to their highest settings, both lethal and devastating, a communique came through from their operations commander. "Lovely, here I was beginning to believe that this was all the Decepticons in the region had to offer. Alright, Grimlock, we are in route to first objective set. Primus keep you and your team functional until that is accomplished." The soldier deactivated the comm and glanced over to the next ranking operative.

"Well Blaster, it doth appear that we will have to rely on our creator's good graces a touch longer. With reinforcements on the proverbial ground, our task must be expedited. No doubt they have procedures in place to wipe our target. We must move towards a logical access terminal post haste." He glanced at his sensor once more to confirm the faint readings of a power drain that were consistent with a computer on standby. It was in a large structure at the far end of a near by courtyard, not completely built, but enough to act as a dampener to the readings and prevent Scoop from getting a complete target lock. He pointed with his blaster and gave a single nod to his team leader... then took the lead as he slid over to the next point in an island hopping action towards the large potential citadel that dominated the center of the dome.

Sludge heard the order his commander gave to him and quickly turned his apatosaurus head towards the direction of the recorded bounce signatures. Well, as fast as his Dino-head could turn in this aquatic warzone. His body soon followed suit and soon the jungle warrior was facing a sizable cloud of undersea muck. Sludge lifted his foot and brought it down with as much force as he could given his environment and sent force a small quake out towards any poor Decepticon that happened to be coming down towards them.

-

"Now THIS is what I'm talking about!" Blitzwing proclaimed as he leapt out from his bounce and transitioned to his tank mode, his tank treads kicking into full gear before he hit the seafloor. He quickly took aim towards the Dinobots down range from him and fired off a couple of shells to cover the Decepticons advance. "Come at me lizard-brains!!"

-

From the top of the rock ridge the Dinobots originally entered upon, a green tank rolled forward ever-so-slightly as a laser-targeting system began to lock on to the Decepticons starting to rush from outside the undersea base. The tank barrel fired a quick volley down towards the advancing Decepticons to hopefully keep their approach from reaching the Dinobots.

>>"Hardhead to Grimlock, heard you were smashing cons heads in, thought you could use an extra gun."<< the warrior announced to the Dinobot commander as he fired off another volley towards the Decepticons gathering outside the base.

-

"GRAAAH!!!" Devastator roared as rocket's pelted his toughened hide. They firepower wasn't enough to send the Constructicon gestalt toppling over, but it certainly scuffed the armor. Then Grimlock bit down on his ankle joint causing the green and violet Decepticon to peered down at the tyrannosaurus-shaped leech clinging on. "DUMB DINOBOTS CAN'T STOP ME!!"

Devastator lifted his right leg to around a ninty-degree bend before bringing down his foot, the water resistant slowing much of the intended force down upon the seafloor. The drill upon his left arm was still spinning and buzzing about as he looked down to see the plated desert warrior targeting the connecting joint. The gestalt hissed a retracted scream of pain as a middle connected with Bonecrusher's treads. "I HIT YOU NOW!!" Devastator's drill came crushing down into the seafloor, missing a distant Snarl but immediately throwing corral and the other various seafloor material all around his arm in a vortex of unintended sedimentary protection.

Undersea Base

From the door, Cloudbreaker gave Flamewar's small team some suppressive fire while the others "worked their way back" as she put it. The thief rolled his eyes as he took a wild shot towards the blurred silhouette of what he could only assume was a Dinobot far across the seafloor.

That ol' mutt did warm me she was particularly bossy...

-

"See that your friend doesn't nick anything."

"What, do trust me well enough to make some decent friends now?" Warwolf answered back in an unfamiliar tone while still matching Flamewar's whisper. When the black operative headed off towards the terminal, Warwolf drew one of his swords and wrapped his actuators around the grip of his pistol, before looking over his shoulder.

"Come on, we're going on!" He yelled towards her secondary team before jogging off towards his former mentor.
