The only time I'll accept redecos of the same character is if it's in the show. Otherwise, new character or die.

Sorry for multi-posting, but I'm more or less with you on this. I love redecos and repaints, as I can generally make them into my own character rather than just accept the notion that it's sneaky Bumblebee or night time Optimus Prime, but I hate it when repaints simply get an adjective added to the front of their names. Like, what's actually the difference between (for example) Bulkhead and Battle Tactics Bulkhead? Wouldn't it be like, a different way which Bulkhead was employed by the military? If you're a cashier and you get promoted to assistant manager, you don't turn a different color.
I never really cared until all the endless movie repaints took up this approach. I'll accept all the red BB repaints as Cliffjumpers, but I won't accept a red BB repaint as "Fire Resistant Bumblebee" or whatever. That's just dumb.

I have a little bit of trouble making those characters their own, unless it's in the show. They would look too similar to the original character for me to accept it.

So, how would we know what he looks like? How would we know he has the Forge of Solus Prime and the Prime arm if we haven't seen him? :???:

I suspect it was just a conjecture on the part of the poster. It's not unreasonable to suppose a (Solus?) Prime-arm micron to be in the works at this point, lol.

Seekers? The thousand same-body-types-as-Animated-Bumlbebee folk? It's easy to make a redeco their own characters, they've done it before, and will continue to do so, I'm sure.

No, I'm talking about Shadow Strike Bumblebee, Nightwatch Optimus Prime, BuyOurToysMode Megatron, etc. I'm not talking about characters that already are their own characters, and I already said that I have no problem with them:

Even the person I'm talking to made it clear. I don't understand the confusion.

Ah, my apologies! I misread your post. Yeahh, those are hard to abide by, there's really no point to them. I mean, the occasional one looks good, like Dotm (Hell)Fireburst Prime and Murderbee, but for the most part it's annoying and shelf clogging.

Yeah. I'd like things to be the way they were before the end of Animated, ya know? When lines didn't last less than 10 or 11 months, and actually stayed alive for as long as the show or media was. There were multiple toys to choose from, you didn't have to be shoved in the face with 10 Bumblebees of the same figure at the stores and spend months look for figures.

Those days are gone, thanks to these "special" repaints of the same character. Don't get me wrong, some of them are cool, but I just don't see a point for them clogging up our shelves, like you said.
