Seeking the Seekers!

Postby kwanzaabot » Wed Oct 03, 2012 8:06 pm

So I've started collecting Transformers again for the first time since Beast Wars (and a Classics Bumblebee I got back in '07), and I'm interested in getting the Seekers, since they're among my favourite G1 characters.

The thing is, I really don't want to spend, let's assume $100, on 4 or 5 variants on the same toy. I mean, I've got bills to pay!

So, I was wondering if people could suggest to me their favourite versions of Starscream, Skywarp and Thundercracker. (Preferably different versions for each character, so my collection doesn't look all the same :P)

Also the coneheads, although admittedly I'm not as big a fan of those.

Weapon: Gatling Cannon
Generations/ Classics versions deffinatly.

Love the G1 versions, but the classics are the best in my opinion. look like the G1's but with better transformations and they look very good.

Thanks, I'll look into those. :)

(Also, I've edited my original post, as ideally I'd like different versions of each character- I'm wondering if maybe different paint jobs/heads/alt modes look better on one version of say, Starscream, than they do on that line's Thundercracker, for example)

Well, let me lay out the Seekers you could find, and you choose the ones you can most likely afford.

These are definitely the way to go if you're into G1 Seekers:

If you're willing to fork out about $20-40 bucks per figure.

Looking for some Movie Seekers?

Animated Seekers?

Although, good luck finding this guy at a nice price:

Armada Seekers?

Bleh...only Starscream had an Energon Toy:

Cybertron Seekers?

How about some Prime Seekers?

Go FE Deluxe...

Or PRiD Voyager...

With Japanese Arms Micron Exclusives:

Skywarp

And upcoming Thundercracker!

There are probably a few I missed, maybe some legends down-scales, but the choice is yours. ;)

And welcome back to collecting!

well there is also Masterpiece....if your willing to pay that much. no cone heads for them yet though.

I guess that would depend on if you prefer a G1 look, movie, ect. and if you want all the seekers in scale with one another.

Yeah, he said he doesn't want to fork out that much. I don't recommend buying the Classics either, if you're not willing to fork maybe 20-40 bucks a figure, give or take.

It's not that I'm not willing to fork out the money, it's more that if I did spend a lot of money, I don't really want 3 near-identical figures to show for it.

If you don't want 3 near-identical figures (save for paint job), then why collect the Seekers at all?

That's what I've been thinking

But...there have been times when Starscream was a different mold from the other two in the same line. Take Cybertron for example.

It's not like they've only used the one mold ever since 1984. Every new toyline does something different with them.

Let's take Thundercracker for example. Some versions of him use a really ugly shade of blue. So, the Starscream for that particular series might look better.

Another series might make Starscream mostly grey, and look kind of boring with only minimal red highlights. The Thundercracker for that one might look nicer.
