I made a variety of changes this past weekend to help make the site a little more friendly for mobile devices and tablets. A lot of these changes were made to make the site look a little more modern. More subtle changes will be implemented as inspiration hits.

Please let me know if any of you are experiencing difficulties with the new changes. Thanks!

Nah, everything seems fine on Firefox for Linux so far! :D

But see what the post above me says.

Hey Ryan, to follow up on this, when I access the site via my iPhone 4S, it's crashing a lot the past 2-3 days. Was fine a few days ago. It may open a page or two but then just gives up an quits. I can tell it's probably graphic related; I can see it trying to build out the screen and overlay things over the background. The graphics on pages for top and most recent stories appear odd still too.

I've tried rebooting my phone and clearing the cache but it hasn't really helped. Will try again though to see if it's my hardware.

Just wanted to give you an update.

I appreciate you letting me know that you are having difficulties with it on your iPhone 4S. The only thing that I can think of is the background image is giving your phone trouble. I just modified it so the background image won't display on mobile devices. Let me know if that helps at all. In the meantime, I'll see if I can find my wife's iPad to see if I have issues with the site on that.

Any word on my comment about the forums? I could have sworn I posted about it when the new forum software came into play a few years ago, but I appear to be mistaken, as I can't find the post from back then...

It's on my list for some point ... to be honest, I want to get rid of phpBB. phpBB is really behind the times and I'm not sure what I want to do at this point. Open to suggestions if anyone has any. vBulletin is behind as well so they're not a good alternative.

That seemed to get it. Whether I load over the air or wifi, it builds quickly. It was definitely the background that was looking/acting weird before. Thanks!

Yeah you might want to trim up the rather large border. That will help get your main picture to fit in with our signature guidelines

The "Upload Attatchment" option in my PM box has disappeared. Anyone else having the same issue? Or was it gotten rid of?

I removed the ability to upload attachments due to concerns with SPAM bots. If a lot of you have an issue with this, I can reconsider, but I would prefer not to let people upload private attachments.

Unfortunately, yes. I'm concerned that SPAM bots could use the PM system to send out viruses. It is just a precaution. Do people use the upload attachment feature via private messages often?

I don't think I ever have. I fail to see the point of it, honestly. When you can you share publicly, there's really no point to do so in PM. If you need to quote someone, just quote 'em. I think file uploading via PM is a bad idea.

I do every now and again, but it's not like I would die without it. I just brought it up since it could have been a programming error or something, so I asked here just in case.

Could that not be just your own connection/browser/machine? :-?
Or is this the only site that has issues?

All seems fine over here!

The site loads very fast for me as well. However, that doesn't mean that there are not issues with the site's code in certain user environments. Please tell me more about your computer's environment so that we can help you resolve your problem or figure out if there's something on our end that might be causing you difficulties.

Which operating system and which version are you using?

What type of browser and which version are you using?

Nice system, VioMeTriX. :D

We could eliminate if it's a Network issue by running a ping via a command prompt. Do you know how to do that? If so, please paste the results so that I can see if it is a network issue.

If not, here's how ... Bring up a "run" command by doing Windows + R, then type in cmd to bring up a command prompt, then type ping www.seibertron.com. Click on the top left icon of the command prompt to bring up the menu, select Edit, then select Mark to select the ping's results. Hit the enter key to copy the text or go back to the Edit menu and select copy. Paste the results here in this topic so that I can see if it's a network issue.

The pings look good and are about the same as what I have. I wonder if it's something with IE9. I'll have to see if my wife's computer has an issue with it.

By the way, do you have IE's compatibility mode disabled for Seibertron.com? If not, it should be disabled.

i checked and no its not in compatibility mode for any sites. i dont want you all going crazy over this issue, i just open things in new window so i dont worry about the back button. though i do appreciate the effort, was hoping it was a simple fix.

Don't worry about it. It's something I want to look into especially since you said it happens on multiple machines in your household. I'm assuming other users are experiencing the same problem but you're the only one to let us know you are having difficulties. I just need to find a computer in my house that still has IE9 and/or Windows XP.
