It should be working now. I rewrote the code that keeps you logged in to the main part of the site and made a few other changes. Please let me know if you have issues after 12:38am Central time. Thanks.

I've been having issues with logging in today and/or staying logged in. It started today at about 1pm, the site said the forums were not available. Latter on I could see the forum but every time I went to login ID hit the button it would say I was logged in, but would then boot me back to the main page without actually logging me in. Though my username appeared in the members online listing, though it should have been hiding. I use either the opera mini browser or the opera mobile browser.

I'm having a lot of trouble posting today. This was the first successful post for me, so maybe things are settling down. I also experienced the login loop as mentioned by njb902. If this post goes through it will be the first one since early today. Maybe before noon CDT. Good luck, Seibertron. I work in IT. I know what this can be like.Image

Thanks for the support. I've been trying to chase down the bugs that prevent users from staying logged in. I disabled a couple of security settings that might have made the forums too strict for people who aren't on static IP addresses. I *think* everything is all good for the time being. I've got my fingers crossed. I appreciate all of you being patient while these issues are worked out. Hopefully this will ultimately provide a more satisfying posting experience for all of you if these changes indeed end up resolving the problems we were all experiencing.

When I hit "view first unread post" on this thread, I got a a blank page that just told me
Fatal error: Using $this when not in object context in /var/www/vhosts/seibertron.com/httpdocs/energonpub/includes/functions.php on line 3968
Going back and then clicking the right page got me here just fine.

Also, using the same chrome account but on a new machine, the "keep me logged in" function has gone from temperamental to simply not working.

I lately haven't been getting email notifications of new posts in threads I've posted in as frequently as I ought to be getting. I look in my "View Your Posts" section and see a ton of new topic posts that no emails have come in for.

And yesterday when this happened, emails for a lot of yesterday's new posts didn't come until today.

Unusually, the "Mark All Topics Read" link hasn't been working for me for a few days now. It gives me the message that it has done so, and when I return to the board I was looking at, they're still showing unread as if I had never clicked said link. Actually VIEWING the thread undoes that for that thread as normal.

Edit: Still happening, and it makes it very difficult to keep up with the goings on, when coupled with the inability to go to the first unread post in a thread that is 2 or more pages long.

I have this very same issue. Not that it's throwing off any of my usual writing activity here. Just noting it for the record :D

This is issue happening again, and more frequently now with more and more topics I post in giving me no email notices of new posts.

I thought it was just mozzila but in chrome, once I post in the thread, I have to manually click "return to thread". It used to be automatic.

Ryan,

I recently had an issue with my signature being in violation of the rules, by having three separate images in it. This was helpfully pointed out to me by Burn, and I have since rectified the matter. (While it does still have three obviously separate elements to it, the graphics in my signature are now presented as one image file.) I bring it up only as context for my re-posting here of a private message I sent him on the matter, which he then suggested I might post in this thread for you consideration.

And so:

Yotsuyasan wrote:When I first made the triple-imaged signature, the only place I looked was the "Edit Signature" page. Since that page listed one restriction, the 500 character limit, it seemed logical to me at the time that if one restriction was listed there then if any others existed, they would also be mentioned. Hence why I looked no further at the time.

My search for the rules began once you mentioned I was in violation of them. As I said, not out of doubt. I had no reason to disbelieve you and every intention of bringing myself in line. It was more out of curiosity.

I knew in theory that forum rules existed, but as someone who does not regularly (or at all, honestly) visit the "General Discussion" forum, I did not know where they were located. They are kind of hidden by being a sub-forum there. In looking for rules, I tried the FAQ, and I looked at the list of forums as presented to the right of every page and in the drop down box under the "Forums" tab at the top of every page. I only found them after doing a search of the forum for the word "signature," then looking at the earliest results.

It would be a lot easier to find them if the rules subforum was at least visible in the drop down box. I know that is possible, as for some time after third party discussion was relegated to a subforum, it was still visible in the drop down box during the adjustment period when people got used to that change.

As it is now, unless you are someone who visits the General Discussion forum, there isn't really much to indicate where the rules are located. Them being a bit more visible would not be a bad thing, in my opinion.

Ive reported this issue before... when i go and look something and i hit the back button to go to a previous page, it freezes and takes up to 2 min to go back a page. now i can go to the homepage and click through forward links to get to what i want, but this is rediculous.

now i am a pc tech with 20yrs in the field... since i last reported this issue i have built a new computer (its a monster) and got a new isp with a 100 mb connection... i shouldnt be experiencing this issue, it is not on my end as i said everything is new.

It's been nearly 2 1/2 weeks since I posted this, and there's not even any acknowledgement from the admins or anyone that they even heard me...

Once you click the link, wait say 30 seconds (10 may even be enough) and then refresh and tell me if that worked.

Nope. Not even a force refresh (ctrl-F5 on PC for Firefox) worked.

Is there a problem with thread subscribe notifications again? I haven't received an email notice since yesterday from the threads I'm watching.

Thanks!

I have been experiencing this as well, so it doesn't seem limited to one user (and thus perhaps an issue on their end).

I've been having this problem as well. I finally just got one tonight, but it's only one thread out of five that have had new posts in them, leaving the other four unnoticed by my email.
