Shuttle Bay

Cutthroat walked with the other Terrorcons with a bored looked experience on his face. This expression momentarily changed when he saw Cypher waited for them at the Bay.

"Heh, we bringing our dessert with us?" He said with a cold chuckle but did not act. Hun-Grr's words made it clear this one would be under is protection too. That was a shame, it had been too long since he last wallowed in anothers fluids.

He stood beside the shuttle as he waited to finally move. As he did he turned towards it and started at its wall. His face began to distort into a maniacal smile as he outstretched his right hand towards it. He began to dig his claws into the hull and pull down. In his twisted mind he could see a vision of oil flowing out of it.

He began to laugh as he pushed his claws deeper into the hull of the Bay as he attempted to eviscerate the transformer he saw in his insane hallucination.

Cipher’s optics remained on the Terrorcon Commander for a moment longer before he even registered Mindwipe’s whispered response. He finally looked to the hypnotist, a skeptical expression platered on his face plate. Was he to believe that Scorponok’s go to group of psychotics would actually protect he and Mindwipe from whatever it was on that planet? Doubtful. Once he got what Scorponok wanted, who’s to say the Terrorcons wouldn’t simply tear them both to bits…and then eat them? The thought sent a vicious shiver over his entire frame.

Cipher’s musings were interrupted by what Mindwipe had finally said. Made for. The statement brought a smile to the scientist’s face. The former thought of what might become of him after their trip was long gone. In its place were the immeasurable possibilities. After a moment of silence Cipher licked his lips and turned back to look at Hun-Grrr, who had already started to relay orders. It seemed that Blot would be the one to safeguard he and Mindwipe while planet side. Probably the best option considering.

Cipher gave a hesitant nod before he followed Mindwipe into the shuttle. With any luck he’d return with his head still attached to his shoulders.

Rippersnapper had taken up a position next to, but slightly behind, the Terrorcon Commander as he began to convey his orders. Blot would be playing guard dog, the perfect job for the mindless slob. Sinnertwin would be playing nursemaid to Cutthroat, good thing too. The shook trooper would more than likely tear the shuttle apart before they even entered the atmosphere. With the sentry on duty, Cutthroat’s unshakable need to destroy should be abated, if only for a few joors.

The terrorist’s attention moved to his commander as he finally boarded the shuttle. Not wanting to lag behind, Rippersnapper entered and made his way to the pilot’s seat. Once he was settled in he began the take-off sequence.

"See?" Mindwipe said, clear eagerness in his voice as he pointed at a much smaller screen than the one he had been using within Scorponok's map room of sorts while the other Terrorcons went about getting the ship ready to take them all down there.

On the screen was a small listing of the native life that they had managed to catalog thus far as well as images of some of the terrain. Some of it actually looked fairly pleasant and picturesque. There were other areas, however, that looked to be just as hostile as the fauna. The Cybertronian databases were almost nil when it had come to providing anything useful about this region of space, much less this planet in particular. It had required them to do some preliminary information gathering on their own before setting foot on the clearly hostile world.

"If this is a sampling of what we've found down there thus far, I shudder to think what also might be lying in wait for us once we arrive. Would be nice to have a guide of some kind who knows the area, but I suppose we'll manage."

Cipher had settled into a position next to the Decepticon hypnotist as he latter brought up the lists of the planet’s indigenous flora and fauna and some of the terrain. The scientist’s optics narrowed slightly as he scanned through the lists provided. The life on this planet was indeed strange, and most certainly could be very dangerous, but Cipher had to admit, whoever left behind said artifact was certainly someone he’d like to meet.

Cipher straightened upright to his full height as he crossed his arms over his chestplate. Slowly he brought one hand up and stroked him chin in contemplation. Perhaps the builder of the edifice in question was still on the planet. Oh, what he wouldn’t give to have a discussion with said mech.

A wide grin grew over the scientist’s face as the possibilities began to swirl around in his processor.

“Well now. This is shaping up to be an interesting trek already.”

Tilting his head slightly, Cipher studied the list much closer.

“Are you sure that these are all indigenous to this particular planet?”

As the remainder of the landing party traveled to the back of the shuttle Rippersnapper had taken his seat in the pilot’s chair and already initiated the take-off sequence. After an astrosecond the engines powered up and the computer systems ran down their list of checks. Not wanting to waste any more time loitering in the shuttle bay, Rippersnapper commenced lift off.

The shuttle slowly lifted off the ground and the terrorist guided it through the bay doors. Once clear from the dreadnaught, Rippersnapper engaged the thrusters and piloted the ship toward the glowing orb joust outside of his view port.

Once they were on their way Rippersnapper opened the ship wide communications system.

>>”We’ve left the shuttle bay. ETA to LV-117, approximately 9 breems.”<<

Rippersnapper closed the comm line and refocused his attention on getting the entire shuttle safely on planet.

"Does it matter scribe? In the end they are just fodder for the slaughter." Hun-Grrr replied to Cipher's question. The smug grin on his face shifting into mixture of greed and bloodlust. "Though I have seen enough genetically engineered killing machines to tell you that wherever some of those creatures came from, they did not evolve naturally."

While Hun-Grrr was hardly science oriented or interested in studying linguistics, he could see potential in whatever Scorponok's tech heads had found hidden on LV-117. In his substantial experience, no one wasted this much resources to build something to just trick others. Sure, the galaxy was full of jokers who'd go to ridiculous lengths in their attempts to deceive thrill seekers and relic hunters. But evolutionary manipulation of a whole planet along with artificial radiation belt surrounding the said celestial body was off the payscale of such tricksters. And that was without knowing what exactly they could yet be facing on the surface. Indeed, this was going to be one interesting little quest.

Command Bridge

Back in the day of the Great War's full height, every major Decepticon capital ship had been equipped with an omniglobe so that Megatron would never lose his ability to fully command his empire regardless of his whereabouts. Every Cybertronian had unique neural pathways and only one Cybertronian had ever held the mantle of Decepticon Leader - Megatron. Anyone else would get their circuits fried if full connection was attempted. A chosen few of Megatron's most trusted lieutenants had been partially tuned to utilize these devices of immense information processing and Scorponok was one of those.

The strain from utilizing a partial hypercognizance shell was tremendous but he could not fully interface with an omniglobe designed to integrate seamlessly only with one particular Decepticon. Ceaseless stream of data flowed through Scorponok's central processing unit as the enormous Decepticon warlord browsed through the vast archives of Decepticon Central Intelligence while simultaneously taking in all the realtime field reports from his various operations. Ever since his return into the Semper Tyrannis through the ground bridge, Scorponok had been obsessed with tracking every piece of information available about Jhiaxus, Autobot penintary installations and the service record of the so called Mostructor Six. He had left Cipher and Minwipe and a group of technicians to attempt to recover all possible information lost in the broken datapads they had brought from the planet below. As fascinating it would have been to find the contents of those datapads first hand, Scorponok simply couldn't allow to waste his time on something he was able to leave for others to work on.

Jhiaxus' name was a dead end, leading only to archaic mentions here and there before the scientist's name had been seemingly completely forgotten. There was also a multitude of closed files by no other than Shockwave that could have potentially shed some light on the case. But cracking Shockwave's files was extremely slow and tedious task. Even now, after thousands of years after the scientist had disappearanced, the Decepticon Secret Service had managed to open only 27% of Shockwave's vast archives. The one-eyed freak certainly knew how to crypt his files.

With the Monstructor Six, Scorponok was having more luck. The six Decepticons had served on multiple fronts with their paths crossing only randomly. It was as if these six had lost whatever connection they had had while serving under Jhiaxus. Memory alteration after their capture was a logical reason for this. Scorponok himself wouldn't certainly have been above such action had he wanted to keep the six alive but harmless. Nevertheless, all six had their tracks leading eventually to the hands of the Autobots as the result of various circumstances.

And given how Autobots often failed to just get rid of their prisoners the most effective way, it was only matter of utilizing his agents to determine their current whereabouts...

The doors to the bridge slid open, allowing Mindwipe entry. During his time serving under Scorponok, he had learned enough other tasks to make himself a useful bridge officer in addition to carrying out his primary function. The other Decepticons on the bridge.

He held his hand in front of his face for a moment, its blackened steel freshly polished. His entire body once again free of that organic filth he had been forced to endure down on that world. It was an experience that Mindwipe hoped he would never have to repeat again.

Since returning to the ship, Mindwipe had largely exiled himself to a small station where he and Wheelie had been steadfastly entering whatever fragments of data could be recovered from the datapads they had collected down on LV-117. Much of it was beyond Mindwipe's realm of understanding or experience. There had been, however, some tidbits of information regarding the Monstructor Six that Mindwipe had found especially intriguing.

"Mighty Lord Scorponok," Mindwipe said by way of greeting, following his words with a swift bow before approaching one of the bridge panels and pulling up the information he had be collating in another area of the large vessel. It was complicated, but he had been coming up with only one dead end after another. With the Decepticons, Megatron only saw fit to maintain a relatively small number of prisoners, thus prisons were hardly a necessity. Death was the typical outcome of a battlefield capture. For the Autobots, however, prisons had been one of the key requirements of their being able to hold on to the moral high ground, such as it was. That, in turn, had lead to the creation of a fairly expansive and complex prison system. One that Mindwipe had found difficult to navigate.

"I have been working to ensure the collected data is transferred in to our systems, as commanded. Cipher is likely enjoying the process much more than I," Mindwipe said, his left actuator progressively pulling up one holoscreen after another. "But cross-referencing what we've found here with what we already know has been...challenging. At best. The Autobots have covered their tracks well. Nevertheless, the legends surrounding the idea of monstrous gestalts is quite pervasive in our planet's mythology. It still amazes me that some of the things we used to say to scare protoforms were, in fact, true."

Cipher’s Laboratory

So sure was he that something of use would be found on the conglomeration of broken and damaged datapads that Cipher had quickly bypassed the Command Bridge and instead made his way to his lab where he could work in peace and quiet.

The very second the door had slid open the scientist was inside and clearing off a place on one of his workplaces and gently placed down the pile of pads he had tucked under his arm. With a bright, broad smile on his face, Cipher took a seat. He cast his gaze over the whole of the prizes taking in each and every one with barely bated breath. Where to start? Here? No, here!

Cipher carefully scooped up one of the more damaged pads and turned it over in his hands noting all of the cracks and blemishes coursing over the device’s casing.

“Oh, what I could find in you. You will all be the key to finding precisely what my Lord is after.”

With a slightly giddy laugh Cipher dug into the task at hand fist removing the outer casing and then plunging in and working over the electronics within. What secrets did these precious tools hold?

“I knew you all would come in handy. And I must make it my mission to thank those…”

He stopped prematurely before mentioning those who had helped him locate the pile of damaged equipment that now lie before him.

“No. I refuse to acknowledge them. I am not crazy and I have no intention of dwelling on the fact that there was anyone other than my Decepticon brethren that aided in locating that bunker. Lord Scorponok would have my head if he thought something was amiss.”

With his right hand the scientist frowned and gently rubbed his neck. The thought of those enormous pincer-like hands encircling his throat and then squeezing….

“Ugh. No. I will not…now, my little pads, let us see what secrets you hold.”

The Commander’s resident linguist set to work tweaking and bypassing until finally he came across a faint energy reading. Amazing, there was still a tiny bit of charge. A smile formed on the slim mech’s face as he made a few preliminary connections to his personal computer terminal and began to roam through the pad’s contents.

The dark screen soon illuminated but quickly darkened again. Cipher growled in frustration while trying once more to strengthen the connection between his terminal and the pad. There was another flicker and finally a hazy image began to appear. The resolution was terrible but the scientist was still able to determine that what he was seeing was, in fact, the written Primal Vernacular. This was not unusual since the glyphs that were sprawled on the wall in the bunker were written in the ancient language.

Unfortunately the entire contents of the pad included nothing but inventory…and not even inventory that would reveal anything that had been occurring at the site. Cipher disconnected the pad and tossed it to the corner of the desk and picked up another. As with the first device Cipher set up the new one in the same way he had done the last. This time the device booted up faster and with a clear picture.

The glyphs that scrolled over the screen were slightly different. It was another list but this one was a list of just words, but these weren’t of the Primal Vernacular…these was much older.

“My, my, my. What do we have here? A sample of Old, Old Cybertronian and on an insignificant datapad in some unknown bunker.”

Cocking his head to one side Cipher took to decoding the pad’s contents. It may not be anything important or of any use to their mission, but it was important to the scientist.

Decepticon Dropship ST – 4

Breaking through the atmosphere wracked the ship with more turbulence than when the small group had arrived. The radiation that surrounded the planet made travel difficult but with Cybertronian technology on their side the Terrorcons had nothing to fear.

The time it took to leave the planet and finally make it into the dark void was a little over two breems…possibly some kind of record, Rippersnapper mused.

The rest of their travels passed by in silence and quickly. A broad smile creased the white and blue mech’s face as the majestic form of the Semper Tyrannis came into view. He slowed their approach and opened a comm channel to the Dreadnaught.

"There is a glimmer of truth in most myths Mindwipe. How warped and twisted the truth becomes over time is another thing." Scorponok spoke up while observing the various screens of the Command Bridge, including those Mindwipe had presented to him. "Take the legendary leader of Omega Sentinels for example. Omega Supreme was once believed to be a mere myth until he was found again by the Autobots and convinced to join their cause."

"And how many other myths have become reality?" The massive Decepticon warlord continued, "The Acropolex of Nyon and the Trypticon Station - both relics of the forgotten ages and ultimately proven to be something far more than any of the stories indicated. One can only imagine what is hidden behind the concepts of the Thirteen, the Guiding Hand and Knights of Cybertron. And yet, we cannot waste our resources running after mere myths. We need something tangible. And that is exactly what we have now in Jhiaxus and his creation. "

At this point Scorponok's attention turned away from Mindwipe's findings, his gaze focusing to the data on the screens of the Omniglobe. "Nevertheless, I see no new leads I had not considered already in your work. I have spread the word to my agents. Now we can only wait for confirmation of the continued functionality of the Six while reaping the crop of our work elsewhere."

>>”Tyrannis, this is Rippersnapper on board the Decepticon Dropship ST – 4 requesting permission to approach and dock.”<<

Finally. Scorponok thought as Rippersnapper's boarding request came though. Having the Terrorcons back would allow the Decepticons to finally leave the Lenocinium Velnero system to pursue other goals.

"Finback, let the Terrorcons to board the Tyrannis and set the course to Nebulos system. There are some preparations we need to do."

"Aye aye Captain." Was the short response of the crusty old navigator who immediately set their new destination coordinates into the Tyrannis' flight computer and took control of the ship's tractor beam suite to carefully direct the dropship ST-4 into the hangar of the mighty warship. Once the dropship had been secured in the hangar, Finback closed the hatch and prepared the enormous starship for a quantum jump.

Roughly a klik later, the Semper Tyrannis had left the Lenocinium Velnero system, leaving behind only traces of discharge of its engines.

Sinnertwin could feel the tremors as their little dropship was allowed re-entry on to Scorponok's command vessel. Sinnertwin was still attempting to process everything that he had seen on the planet's surface. He had expected a hunt and on some level he hadn't been disappointed. But he still failed to see the full significance in what exactly they had found within that old fortress. It was old and probably had some valuable stuff in it, but nothing that really held value to the likes of the Terrorcon. Just that one little Cybertronian proto, and they hadn't even been allowed to shred him like they normally would any other thing that was not wearing a Decepticon insignia.

"Little proto had best not stray far on his leash. His end would be quick, I think."

Semper Tyrannis--Command Bridge

"As always, your wisdom in these matters is considerable and far exceeds my own," Mindwipe said, offering the much larger Decepticon another brief but respectful bow as he pondered Scorponok's words.

Indeed, there was a significant portion of Cybertron's history and personage that had simply passed in to legend. But with time, discoveries had made some of those legends all too real, even as others remained clouded in mystery. Mindwipe was pleased that this was one legend that was slowly and surely having its veil lifted. He only hoped that by the time they had returned to Nebulos they had also received some sort of actionable intelligence. Mindwipe would certainly do his part to make that a reality.

"I will return to my labors and inform you of any changes," Mindwipe said. "Come Wheelie. There is much yet for us to sift through."

Turning away from the imposing Decepticon High Commander, Mindwipe walked to another area of the sizable bridge altogether whereby he could continue digging through what they had found on the surface of LV-117 but also stay out of Scorponok's considerable way.

Wheelie placed his fist upon his chin and leaned upon it for support. He had been at the decoding for what had felt like hours. He wasn't even sure if the computer was actually decoding the files, for whatever he saw didn't make much sense to him.

He wondered when he would be done with this monotinous task. The orange sports-car checked where Mindwipe was, and saw that he was talking to the titanous figure of Scorponok. Wheelie looked back to the screen and checked the progress of the automatic decoding and sighed. He had actually hoped that the progress bar would be over fifty percent, not beneath it.

Wheelie got up from his seated position and moved to another console. It was there where he brought up a map of the Tyrannis and zeroed in upon his location, and the mess hall. Maybe these Decepticons had something better than what he was eeking by with on LV-117.

"First I have to attend to my thirst!" Wheelie responded with a hint of raspiness to Mindwipe's beckoning, "I'll be back with a snack!"

Hallways

The orange protoform transferred the screen to a datapad, and carried his work off with him to the hallways. It was a lot longer and larger than he had remembered on the screen representation. What seemed to have been a mere minute walk, turned out to be more than a breem. To one who is suffering with boredom like Wheelie would find this wait grueling.

He suddenly heard a noise from down the hall. It was the same noise he heard in the base! But this one was longer, and it sounded sad instead of a quick, sharp whistle. It wavered as if it was distorted or mechanical, but the sound was not either of those. It almost sounded like... Song.

Wheelie listened hard, trying to hear the words spoken. But he was too late, the sound faded and he was left with many more questions than he had before.

With Scorponok being occupied with the Decepticon operatives on Nebulos for the time being, that allowed the hypnotist some time alone with a relatively large amount of peace and quiet on the ship to continue pouring through the trove of material they had stripped from the fortress on LV-117. The only disruption, albeit a minor one, was Wheelie's presence. Fortunately the young proto did not appear to be overly inclined to get underfoot and otherwise in the way. That was a good thing. His odds of surviving the coming orns seemed to be ticking upwards little by little.

The odds were not still in his favor, but that could be said of a fair number of full-fledged Decepticons, much less recruits to the cause.

When he announced he was going for a recharge, Mindwipe looked up, but before he could have said anything, Wheelie had already absconded from the bridge to wherever it was that he hoped to find an accessible energy repository. He made a note to discuss that with the protoform upon his return. Grunts simply did not announce their intentions and then carry them out. You requested, and sometimes pleaded, to a superior before doing anything of notable independence--particularly, accessing energy reserves.

Young one will not have many opportunities to make that mistake. The next time he does that may very well be his last.

Mindwipe grinned as he continued to process his way through what seemed like countless scans. It had been so long since they had broken in a new recruit that he had actually forgotten how enjoyable a process it was. Accessing a comm terminal, he brought up a broadwave commlink. It would have to do until Wheelie uploaded his personal signature directly in to the ship's database.

>>"Don't dawdle,"<< he transmitted simply.

Mindwipe had prepared himself for the incoming arrival, but it was still something to see. How long had it been since this vessel carried a retinue of Autobot prisoners? In so many instances, there was nothing of note left to transport after one of their encounters.

The Decepticon Hypnotist watched as Sweep guards prodded Autobot prisoners in to their cells on one screen as the energized gateway opened within the ship's hangar on another screen, allowing the High Commander and other Decepticons of note access to the Tyrannis. Through an adjacent door a new figure entered the bridge, one that Mindwipe had not seen in some time. He could not be certain...but...something appeared to be troubling the one-minded, three-bodied mechanoid.

"Reflector," Mindwipe grumbled, by way of greeting, his tone clearly fishing for anything that the Surveillance Specialist might offer up regarding what had gone on during his time on this planet.

"Mindwipe," the trio responded in unison, assuming various stations on the bridge as other Decepticons, the foremost of which being Scorponok himself, made their presence known a short time after their initial arrival in the hangar and giving no other indication as to what had made Mindwipe's circuits tingle. So be it. He could keep his secrets for now. There was a long journey yet ahead of them.

"Honored Decepticons, your vessel is as you've left it and ready for your command," Mindwipe remarked, noticing that Wheelie had not yet returned from his recharge. He had specifically told the little proto not to dawdle and......that appeared to be precisely what he was doing. And now he was missing the return of their High Commander.

He was going to kill him.

If the Terrorcons hadn't already done just that.

Ohh....glitches, Mindwipe hissed internally. "If you will excuse me for but a few moments. I must retrieve our young recruit from an errand I sent him to complete."

Offering the High Commander and the others a deep bow, Mindwipe quickly proceeded to exit the bridge.

He had been here before. Standing at the helm of Semper Tyrannis' bridge, watching down at the beautiful gem of a planet below. It was his now. Whatever regret Scorponok felt over having to take Nebulos from its native inhabitants was fleeting before his sense of duty to Megatron... to Cybertron. Ending this Primus forsaken war demanded it. Optimus Prime saw things differently. The Autobot leader was ready to let his own world burn, his own people go extinct - rather than do what had to be done. It had become more and more evident as vorns passed by. The Cybertronian Empire had once spanned across the galaxy, perhaps even further. Their numbers had been counted in billions. But the Autobots had let the Empire deteriorate until the space bridges had gone to disarray and the contact with the colonies had been lost. No one knew how many there was left anymore. Perhaps they had all perished. Or perhaps they had crafted Empires of their own and chosen to let their point of origin to turn into nothing but a myth.

Megatron had wanted to change that all. Still wanted. The Decepticons would take the Cybertronians back to stars where they belonged. The galactic isolation. The castes and guilds the corrupt ruling class of Cybertron had used to oppress the people. The Council was no more but their legacy still lived. There could be no rebuilding the Empire as long as the Autobots stood against the Decepticons. And oh did they ever fight so hard for their ideals. A galactic civil war lasting for millions of years. Countless civilizations had born and died while the two factions had fought for dominance. Many because of them. That could easily be the fate of Nebulos as well. He hoped not. He truly did. The war had gone on for too long. And yet, surrender was not an option. Like Megatron, he'd rather die for his cause than accept defeat.

He just had to ensure a victory. Fortress Maximus had to fall. He would pry Garrus-9 from Maximus' cold dead hands if he had to. He had even forced himself to request assistance from certain rogue elements within the Empire he'd rather avoid being in any contact with. He was well aware that the ranks of the Decepticons were not pure. War had turned even the most noble sparks into thugs, thieves and murderers. Still, there were some monsters within their ranks without any chance for redemption. Rapid dogs that had to be put to sleep when time was right. For now however, it was all about victory at any cost. It was the only option Prime had left them with. And he was anxious to get started, all more the reason for his growing frustration over the tardiness of some of his men.

He had called some of his most efficient lieutenants and commandos to a meeting, not to mention the best hackers he had an access to. To a meeting he'd rather have had under way already. Some of them were already present. Like the always loyal Cyclonus and the fierce leader of the Terrorcons, Hun-Grrr. Even the Insecticons had their one of their number present in Hardshell. Many were still missing though. To be honest, most of them really had had no chance to even get there within the time frame given. But the situation was extraordinary if anything. And the opening they had was a narrow one.

Of course, some of his most accomplished soldiers he had been forced to leave behind to take care of their holding on Nebulos. Always patient and collected, Turmoil would keep the planet under his heel. He was better suited for tasks like these than many others. That was not to say his skills would not have been welcome in the offensive. But choices had to be made and Turmoil understood reasoning between Scorponok's decisions better than certain more impulsive Decepticons. Now, if only they'd get the show rolling...

Ever since he had heard the... The song earlier, Wheelie had been trying to track it's source. He knew that song. He had heard it when he was even younger than he was; when he was on a freight ship. Cleff, his adopted mother figure, had always sung to him when he was younger. It was how he learned to rhyme.

Naturally, he wanted to find this source. The orange protoform completely ignored his parched Energon reserves and pressed through the corridor, completely ignorant of where he might end up.

As he moved through the winding corridors, Wheelie wandered about, trying to find where that sound was. It had dissipated earlier, but he had remembered where it came from and he was heading in that direction. Suddenly, he heard it again, yet more intense. Yet, it wasn't a song at all, but the tune, ah, the tune! Wheelie felt it in his chest, reverberating across his shoulders and down to his toes, which tapped happily across the floor.

He turned the corner and stopped at a doorway. It was the Engine Room. Giant masses of steel hung over him with crackling Energon coursing through the veins of the engines. This was the source of the tune he had heard. It was as if it were calling him.

"Calling..." Wheelie muttered, when suddenly, his optics dilated and he suddenly felt uncharacteristically weak.

He felt a pang throughout his mind. Images and jumbled sounds coursed through his mind like a gunshot. Pressing his hands to his head and letting out a shrill cry, Wheelie fell to his knees, then to his side, mind overloaded and unconscious.

Bridge

The walk from the hangar to the bridge was uneventful as usual for the small, hardly noticable firecon. Keeping to himself, not drawing attention from the various vehicons and warrior mechs that march throughout the hallways of Scorponok's flagship was fairly easy for the experienced criminal, and it was one of the few times he would be alone to collect his thoughts. Given all the information he had easy access to back at the Research Center, he was just as informed as any commanding officer stationed in the star system. The only thing he didn't know was Scorponok's exact plan.

Stepping onto the bridge, he did his best not to be intimidated by the numerous towering mechs. Given all those assembled, it was easy to assume that he was one of the later arrivals, so he did his best to look unassuming and hope no one would notice. And even if he was noticed, he had a number of good alibis to assure those who would be suspicious.

I'm not with Intelligence now., he thought to himself as his optics scanned around, My importance isn't as obvious to most of those here. To many I'm just a smart mech who can't fight worth slag.

There were two mechs- well, technically four- that he knew he had to keep especially careful of. First of course was Scorponok, the massive Warlord who may not have been a hacker or programmer by any stretch, but was one of the few mechs in the system whose intelligence was greater than Sparkstalker. Then there was Reflector, the trio which Sparkstalker was well aware of. The cryptologist saw the three mechs as his greatest obstacle should he need to access anything classified. It would be a challenge keeping out of their sights.

Keeping quiet and to himself, Sparkstalker waited in anticipation for the Warlord to speak, while his processors continued to work calculating what challenges would lie ahead.

Snaptrap arrived at the bridge just behind the small firecon. The Seacon Commander did not pay the diminutive Decepticon any mind, however. He continued into the bridge and paid the proper respects to his commanding officer, Scorponok. "Reporting as requested," Snaptrap uttered simply and took a place to wait for Scorponok to begin briefing them.

The seacon commander gazed about the bridge as he waited, noting that he was likely one of the later arrivals. He would offer no excuse. It would be a waste of time and energy when there were other, more important matters to attend to. Letting his hand rest easily on the hilt of his sword, Snaptrap waited patiently for Scorponok to begin to speak.

Through the portal and back onto the Semper Tyrannis was where the High Commander and his horde had vanished to. Among them Cipher, who took up a position as near to Scorponok as possible without impinging on the larger mech’s personal space.

The assemblage was quite impressive. Cyclonus…Scorponok’s Aerospace Commander, Hun-Grrr…the Commander of the Terrorcon’s, Hardshell…one of the Insecticon horde. Each one present and awaiting the brief that was soon to come. Cipher’s attention quickly turned from those already present to the portal that was still open. From the swirling mass came a figure. Slightly taller than the scientist himself, but still imposing.

Wingspan had left the Command Center of Tenebrous after receiving a nod and very brief acknowledgment from Turmoil. He and Sparkstalker were wanted…immediately…on the Flagship of the Second Expansion Fleet by Lord Scorponok.

Once he was on the bridge Wingspan sought out the Commander. He approached the black and gold mech and offered him a slight bow before speaking. “Lord Scorponok. I must apologize for my delay.” Wingspan lifted his head and set his optics on those of the High Commander. “What is it you require, my Lord?”

Bridge

After having arrived on the bridge of formidable flagship of the 2nd Fleet, Cyclonus had watched and waited patiently as other figures summoned by the Decepticon High Commander responded and made their presence known, the latest being the diminutive Insecticon....Bombshell? Why had Venom not transmitted his presence? Cyclonus' curiosity had faded as quickly as it had arisen, and he turned his attention to more important matters. Any potential internal strife between the bugs could be resolved at a later time. Regardless, Cyclonus' wait had not been an idle one. Together with High Commander Scorponok, the air warrior had been efficiently gathering all known information regarding the Garrus-9 penitentiary and cross-referencing it against intelligence that they had gathered only within the last few cycles. It was not a process that would be completed so quickly, but it could certainly commence in earnest.

"The Garrus-9 penitentiary is a multi-faceted facility that the Autobots have expanded upon considerably in the vorns since its original construction," Cyclonus began, activating holographic visuals that would complement his words. "Originally designed to simply house Decepticon prisoners of war, its security status was upgraded considerably after the discovery of rich energon and mineral deposits. Though the energon deposits are believed to have been largely depleted, the moon continues to feed the facility a variety of valuable ores that, in turn, have made the prison largely self-sustaining, requiring little depletion of the Autobots other resources in the field."

The holographs zoomed in further, providing visual layouts of both then penitentiary and its surrounding structures.

"The duty roster within the penitentiary is believed to be considerable. There is both a large military and civilian workforce, though there is no real fleet presence to speak of. One formidable vessel is regularly stationed on or around the Elba moon as the warden is also the commanding officer of the Steelhaven. The ship and its crew also maintain a strong presence within the facility when it is not being deployed on the battlefield. Current intelligence suggests that Fortress Maximus is currently completing a lengthy work detail on Garrus itself, which means the Steelhaven would be there also. Powerful...but isolated from any nearby reinforcements. The element of surprise and the intelligence gathered from our interrogations will be our strongest weapons in the battle to come."

Cyclonus then brought up a screen containing technical specifications regarding each of the six Monstercons.

"This is our prize. These mechanoids hold the keys to a weapon which has not been seen since the Golden Age and has been long forgotten. We will free our long-imprisoned Decepticon brothers and unleash a terror upon our enemies the likes of which few of them have ever seen. To that end, I have formulated an initial battle strategy for our Commander's consideration."

The holographs then switched again to images of the current Decepticon warships in their sector.

"With the Rancor having sustained heavy damage and requiring significant repairs, it will remain behind as the first vessel to receive the services of the soon-to-be-constructed Nebulan shipyards. The Perdition and its support vessels such as the Severance will remain behind as well to maintain the security of our latest planetary acquisition. That leaves our flagship...and the Pestilence. These will rendezvous with support destroyers requisitioned from other areas of the 2nd Fleet's sovereignty."

Cyclonus' paused his briefing at this point, allowing his master to address his lieutenants himself. Scorponok wasted no time doing so while using Cyclonus' holographic image of their warships to present a visual representation of their tactical fleet movement data.

"Stealth is our key to victory. The Autobot transport ship procured by Hardshell will allow us to open a transwarp rift into the Elba star system and slip our warships through the same gateway our decoy utilizes under a ghost shield activated prior entering transwarp. While the Autobots' system surveillance focuses on the unscheduled arrival of one of their transports, our attack fleet will approach Garrus-9 undetected."

Scorponok's burning red optics focused on projection of the Steelhaven as he continued laying out his strategy.

"This deception will allow us to launch a surprise attack against the Steelhaven, allowing us to disable the greatest threat the Autobots have to offer against us and lay seige on the moon where our real targets reside; however, assaulting the Steelhaven is just one part of our multi-faceted strategy."

The hologram shifted to include a series of superstring transmissions being beamed from the Semper Tyrannis towards Elba and its moons.

"When the command is given to attack the Steelhaven, Sparkstalker and Wingspan will simultaneously hack into the Autobot command network with the help of the command codes we have acquired. They will proceed to release a powerful cyber warfare solution that disables Garrus-9's defenses and communications relays - throwing the Autobots into chaos and enabling our next step - our greatest advantage over the enemy."

The fleet data disappeared from the presentation, being replaced by a view of the space bridge located within Semper Tyrannis' hangar.

"A transpatial portal from the Semper Tyrannis' hangar into the very heart of Garrus-9 whereby we will take the enemy completely by surprise. The Autobots will expect us to invade conventionally, not by flooding their precious facility with our warriors from inside out."

Before Scorponok continued, a large, detailed holographic layout of Garrus-9 was brought up before the Decepticons gathered around the holographic projector.

"You are my chosen warriors to lead our invasion of Garrus-9. The fiercest and the most accomplished warriors of the 2nd Fleet. Study the facility. Memorize its layout. Identify its key features: the weak spots, the choke points, the positions where the enemy will dig in their defenses or revert to using explosives to stop our advance. Do not mistake this for being the protoform's play like the invasion of Nebulos, a planet that has not tasted war in many generations--for the enemy will fight to keep this facility from falling to our control and their numbers are considerable and capable even under the disadvantage we put them to."

At this point Scorponok's focus shifted from the holographic presentation towards his men.

"But never forget. We are the dominators. We are the destroyers. We are the Decepticons! The victory will be ours!"

Scorponok paused to allow the emphasis of his words to settle on the minds of those assembled and charge their sparks and minds for the battle to come.

"There is one issue that has to be settled before we begin. Cyclonus if you will?"

Cyclonus' smirked and offered a nod to his commanding officer before his gaze then shifted slightly toward the holographic projection of Bombshell that stood along with the other Decepticon group leaders and other warriors of note within the 2nd Fleet. The images above showed another looping holographic visual of the Pestilence emerging from the portal and deploying its forces within the penitentiary, followed quickly by the Semper Tyrannis.

"Indeed. Though the advantage is ours, I will leave little to chance. I am unconvinced of the current strategic stability of the command structure aboard the Pestilence. Therefore, I will offer command of that ship to the first Decepticon in this room to step forward and claim it. You will be the tip of the blade. The first to feel Autobot vitals in your hands. Who will claim this honor as their own?"

Cyclonus was curious to test the mettle of those gathered. But as always, he had a contingency in mind. If none amongst them assumed the role he would do it himself.

Bridge

The briefing soon began much to Snaptrap's satisfaction when the last of the arrivals streamed into the Bridge. He kept his optics on both the holographic visuals and Cyclonus when he began to speak. Whether or not the duty roster was considerable mattered not. The Autobots would fall. This would be a true battle and not a mockery of war as it had been on Nebulos. At the mention of Fortress Maximus, the Seacon commander shifted his grip on the hilt of his blade. He would like nothing more than to pit his skill as a warrior against Fortress Maximus. Perhaps he would get the chance during the invasion, but if not, there were plentiful Autobot guards.

Snaptrap studied the technical specifications of each of the six Monstercons. Curious. These mechanoids held the keys to a long forgotten weapon? However, that small spark of curiosity was extinguished as Cyclonus moved on to discuss strategy, describing which ships would partake of the invasion. Cyclonus fell silent as Scorponok began his part of the briefing.

It was a sound strategy, utilizing surprise and deception as per the Decepticon norm. With the Steelhaven out of the way, the siege could begin in earnest. But as Scorponok was soon to reveal, this was not the only strategy that utilized these powerful tools. An invasion from the inside out would likely prove a devastating tactic. However, surprise only lasted so long. Soon, the Autobots would begin to rally. As Scorponok addressed Snaptrap and the other warriors assembled in the bridge, he laboriously studied the layout of Garrus-9, the concepts of battle strategies and points of interest already forming in his processor.

Their commander warned them that this was not going to be as easy or as simple as the conquest of Nebulos had been. Snaptrap was acutely aware of this. While some might be content to prey on the weak, the Seacon commander hungered for more. Now, he might finally have the opportunity to quench his thirst for dominion and destruction. Scorponok's words only charged his spark further and solidified his resolve.

It seemed as if the Decepticons were all ready to deploy for Garrus-9 when Scorponok spoke of one last issue to be dealt with. Snaptrap's optics shifted to Cyclonus and the holographic projection of the Pestilence. Command of the Pestilence? To someone other than an insecticon? There would be...complications. But the initial strike must be a devastating blow, despite whatever infighting the insecticons may face. Infighting would not be tolerated. Not now.

Snaptrap stepped forward from the position that he had taken up, casting a sidelong glance at Bombshell before returning his gaze to Cyclonus.

"I would claim this honor to strike the first blow in the name of the Decepticons."

Iguanus had been delighted to leave behind the monotony of Nebulos and step on board the formidable flagship, the Semper Tyrannis. Although his presence was not required during the briefing currently being held on the Tyrannis's bridge, Iguanus spent no time dwelling on that thought. That he was here now, wandering through the entanglement of the ship's corridors, proved to be a sufficient distraction, snaring his attention more thoroughly than he would have liked to admit.

Not quite the activity he had hoped for since setting foot here, but it was still preferable to milling about in Tenebrous, where the most productive thing he could do was rust away.

The Decepticons had secured Nebulos within their grasp. They had searched the planet with exemplary efficiency and weeded out the remaining pockets of resistance. What Autobots hadn't been eliminated were taken back to Tenebrous, where their new purpose as prisoners served only the schemes the Decepticons still had to set in motion. In short, Nebulos belonged to his faction.

As for the Nebulans? Iguanus neither knew nor cared. They were pathetically weak creatures, hardly commanding any more notice than the common cyber-gnat.

Iguanus continued to traverse corridor after corridor. He made a few lefts here, hooked many rights there. As a first-time guest on board this ship, he had no idea where he was going, only that he'd end up somewhere eventually.

Somewhere. Not a particularly recognisable destination. Or a useful one.

The lumen strips embedded into the ceiling soaked each passageway with their sterile white brightness, rendering it impossible for shadows to take up residence in any of them. So far in his journey, this light had acted as his constant companion, as though it were performing a duty to him. But as he strutted though another corridor, Iguanus noted a growing dimness the further he went.

He lifted his optics to see the lumen strips above extinguished, the rectangular devices veined with fissures and splattered in places with a dark, viscous fluid. After a moment, Iguanus detached his gaze from the lumen strips. It was then he also noted the same dark, viscous fluid—and some other unidentifiable matter—clinging to the walls either side of him, globs of it arranged in grotesque patterns stretching along their lengths.

Despite the appalling conditions he'd found himself in, Iguanus smirked. He suddenly realised which Decepticons called this ship home, and was certain he had intruded upon the sanctuary of one of these...mechanoids.

Smirk still intact, Iguanus began slowly walking again. Not because he was exercising caution, but because he wanted to savour this moment, however insignificant it might be. The Terrorcons were such temperamental things, barely in possession of even a shred of rationality, that Iguanus would have to tread carefully should he lure one into conversation.

And that was something to be proud of. If you were successful and walked away still in one piece.

“I know one of you creatures are down here in your little hidey-holes, so why don't you come out and say hello? You don't want to be rude to your guest now, do you?”

Bombshell's holograph fizzled and crackled, looking as if it might fade entirely for a moment.

"I protest this action! We have not--"

The cold, heartless stare he subsequently received from Cyclonus was enough to keep him from adding any further words to his protestations. He allowed it to linger for a moment longer to let the underlying threat sink in just a little further before turning his attention toward Snaptrap and nodding his approval.

"Take your team. Assume command of the bridge. Apprise me of when the Pestilence is in full readiness."

Casting a brief glance down at the console in front of him, Cyclonus tapped a simple command and Bombshell's holograph vanished from view entirely. The Butcher of the Bogs would prove to be an exceedingly more capable spearhead than Venom or any of his subordinates. Cyclonus looked to the others assembled on the bridge.

"Questions?"

"'Rude to your guest'. 'Rude to your guest'. You tread deep, guest. Nnnnnnot welcome here," a voice grumbled, followed by a low rumbling growl that was soon followed by another, echoing in unison and serving as a warning to whatever Decepticon had strayed too far from its usual peers.

In a darkened corner, a pair of glowing, red optics watched the new figure as it approached. A second pair seemed to lift itself up until it had become level with the others--the growls continuing to reverberate threateningly throughout the dark and enclosed space that most of the Terrorcons had cordoned off specifically for the own use after vorns of service under Scorponok.

"Rudeness is all you will find here. Rudeness and death."
___

The protoformic Cybertronian's energy signature had lead to the engine room. If Mindwipe hadn't already been on edge, that fact would have easily pushed him there. That area of the ship was off limits to many Decepticons, to say nothing of some young recruit that they had encountered on some stray planet. Mindwipe had no idea what sort of business this Wheelie thought he might have there, but Mindwipe was determined to put a swift end to his curiosity. If worse came to worse, and this was all some pitifully ill-advised attempt at sabotage, he would likely have to put an end to the young Cybertronian's life himself. That would be a pity. He had seen more potential in the recruit than that. Or at least he thought he had.

Picking up his pace, Mindwipe could have swore he heard some kind of cry from the adjoining corridor that lead to the engine room itself. It took him a few moments to find exactly what he was looking for, given the considerable size of the room in question, but find it he did--or him, rather. Sprawled unconscious on the floor was the prone form of Wheelie.

Odd....

Mindwipe's optics shifted from one area of the room to another, his eons of Decepticon training preparing him to encounter some kind of trap. But as he came closer he was greeted by....nothing at all. The Decepticon hypnotist activated an internal communique.

There he lay, unmoving, but very much alive. His face was frozen in a look of horror and pain, but no physical pain was endured. He was in a ghostly memory, trapped in his own mind like a prison.

Memories

Wheelie was where he wanted to be, sitting on his bed in Cleff's arms, being rocked back and forth to a delightful tune sung by the very skilled Cleff. She was much taller than him, but that was normal because Cleff was nearly triple his age. Her pink and sky-blue colors were bright, vibrant and somewhat distracting, but Wheelie couldn't help but to feel completely relaxed in her arms.

"We'll run, run, run about and see what we can see.
We'll do whatever we can do, happy as can be...
" Cleff sang softly, rocking him in her arms.

"Cleff?" Wheelie asked, hating himself for interrupting her.

"Yes, Wheelie?" she replied with a gentle smile.

"Why do some of those words sound the same?" he asked.

"What, my rhyming?" Cleff said with a giggle.

Not understanding whatsoever, Wheelie's head tilted to the left.

"Here, I'll teach you..." with that, Cleff and Wheelie faded away, leaving a second Wheelie in blackness.

He had forgotten. This was when Wheelie had learned how to rhyme. Wheelie had always taken his rhyming ability for granted, how he had read all of his datapads and understood what they meant... But this was something... Else, for a lack of a better word. But something else was bothering the young protoform; why was he shown this? Was there some hidden meaning to all of this?

Suddenly, he was tossed about again, and this time, he found himself in the streets of Cybertron.

Holding Cell X34

A sharp pain awoke the unconscious detective. Nightbeat cried out and looked to the left to find the source of his discomfort. The source of the pain revealed itself; a chuckling Vehicon had just kicked him in his side.

"Rise and shine, Autobot." the Vehicon spat as he walked away, snarling.

"Ehh, go and scrap yourself." Nightbeat grumbled back at him.

Rubbing his head, Nightbeat sat up from his awkward lying position, slid weakly to the wall and leaned upon it, resting his servos. Hearing a familiar hum beneath him, Nighbeat immediately deduced that he was on a starship. Sniffing the air, Nightbeat then deduced that the ship he was on was not an Insecticon starship, which was, in Nightbeat's opinon, a good thing considering the probable bitter relations with them.

Hopefully.

It didn't take long to acquire a response from the darkness, which came as no surprise considering just who was skulking around in the unilluminated corridors. And such a swift reply confirmed the presence of only one possible Terrorcon that Iguanus had in mind.

Sinnertwin.

Although two pairs of blood red optics examined him from the seclusion of the impenetrable shadows, an animalistic ferocity and relentlessness enclosed within their gazes, Iguanus hinted no indication whatsoever that he was afraid. Indeed, that smirk had yet to leave his face-plate, and he took a few steps towards Sinnertwin, all in an effort to provoke a reaction out of the Terrorcon. After all, Iguanus's cruel nature wasn't merely limited to the Autobots.

Not by a long shot. His fellow Decepticons, the dear little souls that they were, also happened to supply an abundance of entertainment that Iguanus couldn't help but stir when the mood struck him. For his so-called comrades, it never ceased to amaze him just how savage some of them became after he had mocked and goaded them.

Of course, that was the objective: to summon anger and violence so Iguanus's sadistic urges could be indulged in one way or another. And truth be told, he relished every astrosecond of it.

“Rudeness and death, you say? I think it is you who is being rude and so should be put to death for it.” Iguanus chuckled. “Well, Terrorcon? What do you make of that?”
