Wathced Transformers again last week.
And I couldnt work out why Simmons got fired from Sector 7 by rotf for a few reasons
- its a government job, they are fairly secure
- he acted heroically in the bunker scene, defending DefSec
- He was working for a secret organisation so withholding information would not be a good enough reason to dismiss him
- With sector 7 disbanded he more than likely would have be re-assigned
Not saying its a plot hole, just does not make sense to me.

Well Simons said him self that he was begging the government to look into the seekers as well as the TF markings found all over the world. They refused, or at least refused to look into them in any detail. Simons even comment in ROTF that his superiors felt he was Obsessed with the TF and wouldn't leave well enough alone. Sector 7 was dismantled since they them selfs were keeping Megatron from the rest of the government.
Sector 7 was dismantled along with all its employee's. Being that it was a secret organization and the government can and will deny of it ever even existing, your job isn't exactly secure in the event that they would need to shit can the whole program and get ride of any loose ends. The only problem is see of keeping him on the government payroll, is that if he continues to pursue looking for more TF and is caught on government time, on government parole, then people will then link he's acting under gov. orders. And at the time the idea was to keep the autobot/nest operations as covert as possible. Besides, they probably figured that some nut job (well, at least that's how he came across) babbling on about alien robots on his own website was the least of their worries.
