I remember that in the bottom floor of the PKMN center te girl said I could get it w/out conecting to Wi-Fi, but I didn't get it. I'm having a hard time w/the E4 right now though. I can't even beat the first one.....................dammit.

I don't know if you've found your code yet but it should be in the Pal Pad in your Key Items pocket after you connect to wifi.

As for the Elite 4, I got it on my first try. I just barely beat the champion. Here's the team I used:

Infernape lvl 50
Graveler lvl 50
Staraptor lvl 50
Bibarel lvl 50
Luxray lvl 50
Bronzong lvl 50

Bronzong turned out to be the surprise MVP thanks to its Hypnosis and awesome defense. I also bought a crapload of revives and full restores. I think I ended up finishing the last battle with a total of around 40 HP between the three that hadn't fainted.

That's pretty impresive man. I had to use my Dialga to take all of the damage while I healed my Alakazam and Empoleon the first time through.

Impressive, but in Ruby, nothing can beat a level 50 Slaking with Hyper Beam and a whole lotta ether when it comes to the Elite Four...

Still have yet to fork out the $165...

I personally've made a vow for every game to only use pokemon introduced from that game in my main party... unless every one I can find for a type is total shite.

Which is the better buy--D or P?

They're pretty much the same. I'd go with Pearl, but that's my opinion.

I always try to do that as well but every time the Geodudes start popping up in the first cave I find it very difficult to resist them.

By the way, I now have plenty of level 1 Turtwigs if anybody wants one. I managed to snag a female off the GTS for a Flaafy.

Aron in the last series saved me from the 'Geodude Dilemma.'

And speaking of which, what starter would anyone suggest? I'm torn between the Turtle and the Penguin.

EDIT: And, while we're on Geodude, this might be a place to arrange 'double trades' or 'trade backs' for those pesky evolutions like Golem, Machamp, and Alakazam.

Well, I went with Chimchar because it's a freakin' flaming monkey! I just wish they had gone with a second type other than fighting like Blaziken had. As for the other two, Piplup ends up water and steel, which seems like a pretty interesting new combo, and Turtwig ends up grass and ground, which seems very usefull (kinda like Swampert was with water and ground). Plus, I think Torterra looks awesome with the giant tree on its back. So, I guess now, with all the stuff I know now, I think I'd go with Turtwig if I was just getting started.

Seconded. Just be warned that you'll probably have to pick up Ruby, Sapphire, or Emerald and Leaf Green or Fire Red if you're a "Gotta Catch 'em All" kinda guy. Oh, and they also make you buy Pokemon Ranger if you want two of the legendaries.

On a side note, am I missing something in the Battle Tower? I was under the impression that the Pokemon you battle in there showed up as "seen" in your Pokedex. So far, I've battled many that I hadn't seen yet and they aren't in my 'dex. Was I just given bad information?

You can get a Manaphy egg if you beat Ranger. From Manaphy, you can breed a Phione. Not the greatest legendaries but that's the only way to get them unless you trade for them.

I usually go with the water-type for all of the games, but having a grass-type that you will want to use other than for just a HM whore is good too. There are a lot of rock and ground types in the wild in the two games, so grass would help.

Plus turtwig's full evolved for looks badass :D

Well, I beat the Elite 4 on my first shot yesterday with a team of lvl 50's across the board. For some reason, it seemed easier this time around. The team was...

Torterra (A physical tank, and Wood Hammer is Huge.)
Garchop (Probably the best sweeper I had.)
Luxray (Had to teach him Thunder, but it was worth it.)
Bronzong (Didn't really use him much, but Hypnosis came in handy.)
Drapion (Weak before I taught him some moves like Brick-Break, but he was basically a speedy tank.)
Gyarados (Just. Huge. Ya, I know I only like to use ones of that generation, but I wanted to test him out with the new physical attack system.)

EDIT: Still haven't been able to get on Wi-Fi where I'm at. Any tips?

I beat my Diamond the other day, it's not at all gratifying, just like Gen 3. Wish I didn't buy DP together now. Oh well, I hated Hoenn, beat it three times, I guess I can do Shinnoh twice. Johto/Kanto is still the best region. :/ REMAKE, NEEDED.
