Out of the two tf prime cliffjumper's we've seen/gotten which one do you like more?

In my case I like the first edition one with flip out guns. Plus it looks more accurate to the CGI model IMO.

The normal release looks ok but why did he have to have a hammer? Maybe he comes back and that's why he has another toy comeing out.

yeah, from the first indication that there were 2 (3 if you count Zombie-Cliff) toys for him, I've assumed he'll be coming back. Not sure that'll happen though as there have been a few times I'd thought it would, and he hasn't yet. I wonder if they want/planned to bring him back but The Rock's schedule has stopped it?

As for the toys, I'll see what I can get, I like the design but I can't say I'm too familiar with what the 2 different versions look like.

I definitely prefer the first one. The legs on the second one have all that kibble and those cumbersome shoulders look like they might interfere with his articulation.

I really like the guns of the First Edition one, but I prefer everything else about the other version. The First Edition one just looks kind of flat.

Both molds have their strengths, but I think the size of the final product is going to be the deciding factor.

I haven't decided if I'm going to collect Prime across the board or not yet, and Cliffjumper is a fairly large car in alt mode, so I'm going to go with the FE because it's larger and will look right when displayed with Classics et al Deluxe figures. It also appears that Zombie Cliffjumper is based off the larger FE mold; it would be nice if CJ and Zombie CJ were the same size.

Now that the choice of First Edition has been made, a further question: Hasbro or Takara?

I'm leaning towards Takara because it seems to have a slightly better deco; the only place I've seen comparison shots that highlight the differences between the two are at Ages Three and Up:

The Takara version is in stock now at a number of retailers; the Hasbro version is only slightly cheaper where it's available at all.

I'm going to suppose a comparison photo of the Hasbro First Edition, Takara First Edition and Hasbro Robots in Disguise versions all together is waaaay too much to ask.

First Edition, Hasbro version. I like the flip out guns and he's not super short and cheap-looking like the RID one. I also prefer the Hasbro colors because of the tinted windows, and I'm not a fan of the metallic paint Takara likes to use these days.

The RID mold has a few strengths though, like the legs (sans kibble) being more screen-accurate. Actually, in a lot of ways it's more accurate than the FE mold, but to achieve that they had to make a fake chest and a lot of back kibble, which I'm not fond of. I also don't like the weapon at all.

I don't take all these toys as an indication he'll be coming back. Hasbro has made toys for characters that only made 1 appearance so it's highly likely CJ's done. But it doesn't bar some sort of ridiculous miracle I guess.

I'm not sure what idiot in Hasbro's/Takara's marketing division told their toy designers that kids would like a smaller, under-engineered, hollow-legged, gun-less and kibbly version of Cliffjumper, but I sure would like to give them a piece of my mind.

It feels like Hasbro/Takara is taking a page out of most KO making company's books:
Make it cheaper, make it simpler, and give it as many hollow joints and massive, badly-hidden panels as possible.

First Edition FTW!

I far prefer the FE figure. The only thing about the RID one that is better IMHO is something that kirbenvost already pointed out - the legs look more show-accurate. But beyond that... let's just say I'll always prefer the toy that can include accurate weapons that are fully concealed in alt-mode, rather than the "mech-tech" style of sticking a weapon into a port on a car like some god-awful roof-rack (unless it is a target master).
