I just saw a Mailbox painted to look like R2 D2 in Downtown Detroit today. I was going to start a topic about it but I figured I'd just post it here I'll take pics monday.

This site was on it.http://www.uspsjedimaster.com/teaser/index.html

I called my Dad who works for the post office as a mechanic and he said he hasn't heard anything he asked some of the management here in Detroit and they said they didn't know much.

Nice promotional idea.

To celebrate, I shall suggest to our Royal Mail that they can do some promotional work here by actually delivering some **** letters on time...

I wonder what r2d2 brit postboxes would look like?
Aren't the british post boxes more cylidrical?

(I think the only visual reference I have is that Danger Mouse lived in one.)

I wonder if we could find them all and post pics. I'll be near one or two of them...

Well according to Wheeljacks post it won't be them all. But I would figure ones that are actually in front of the USPS buildings would be the most likely ones to have this done to them. So I'll definitely be taking pics.

How many do you think they made? I have a bad feeling at least some of these are certainly going to get stolen by some prankster. Or you will be seeing these on sale as a "collecter's" item when they have to eventually move back to the regular mailboxes. Personally I think they look a little dumb, but thats my opinion.

I feel sorry for anybody that tries. It's a federal offense to tamper with a US Postal Service Mailbox.

What I picture happening is that these will only be up for a limited time then taken down. Then they will sold at auction with the proceeds going to a charity.

But that is just a guess.

Well Detroit wasn't listed as one of the cities to get them and there are several downtown.
