Man I for one am bummed that Michael Bay is making TF4. I rewatched DOTM last night (after having not watched it for quite some time) and I must say it really isn't that great. I like many others have been blinded by some of the robot action (all 5 mins of it) and have excused the rest of it. After watching DOTM again I can say without a doubt that it is just awful. Why even include Shockwave? Why is Optimus a cold-blooded killer? Why is Megatron sitting in an alleyway watching the action? Too many whys and lapses in logic and just good story-telling altogether. I can only imagine what kind of crude humor and vulgarity Bay will infuse this time and in a kid's movie no less. I know some will say these movies were made for long time TF fans that are in their 20s-30s but let's face it, they are for kids. Just like all Transformers have ever been except maybe the MP line. The point is that after watching DOTM I realized why I don't like the first two films and now the third one as well. It's not just that they malinger on the humans etc. etc. TF Prime has proven that human characters work when they're A. not the center of attention ALL the time and B. when they're interesting. As far the action is concerned, it looks neat but I can't help but feel just how hollow it all is when watching it now. No action scene in the entire film carries any weight because we don't care about anyone and the Transformers were never allowed to grow as characters. Nothing ever pays off. And yes, after not watching it for a while and watching TF Prime and G1 in between I have come to realize just how heartless Optimus comes across at the end when he kills Sentinel Prime. Sentinel Prime even begins pleading for his life and Optimus executes him just like Barricade and Soundwave executed Que earlier on (odd parallel that is really unsettling). And this is coming from a guy who like others out there tried to justify his actions when we first saw the movie. Once he kills Sentinel I was done. I will not be rewatching it ever again. The sad part about all of this is with the amount of money these films make they will not be changing course anytime soon I fear. We will continue to get vulgar movies starring scantily clad models that just so happen to involve giant fighting robots from space until they stop making money. And even worse still is the fact parents are willfully and happily taking their young children to these films. It disgusts me to no end. If they want my money they're going to have to reboot...plain and simple. I just hope others won't gloss over the awful Bay films and give them a free pass because they feature a few Transformers for a few minutes. No thank you. I'll stick with WFC games and TF Prime for now.

Common damn sense would have given you the ability to answer those questions.

It's not a question of common sense. If I or any of the rest of us had any we wouldn't have gone to see the 2nd film based on the idiocy of the 1st one. Don't know if you're trying to be funny or not but I took your comment aimed at me as condescending and uncalled for. Based on your comment I'm pretty sure you won't care what I have to say but if I offended I apologize. I will surely keep you in prayer and hope you learn how to talk like an adult.

Well, none of those where even really questions the movie had to answer. You could understand the entire movie without knowing the answer to those questions. As for Megatron sitting in the alley, in the book, Sentinel throws him off of the building. And apparently the editors cut a lot of scenes out of the movie. The twin's absence, when they can be seen in the back ground of one shot is evidence of this.

Well "common sence" might have been alittle harsh for sly to use, but in a seince alot of the questions you had were in fact answered in the movie. others are just from putting two and two toegther. For example,..

What was the purpose of Shockwave being in it?

To throw people off the sent of Sentiel Prime being the main vilian. But to be honest, it really wasn't Bay of the production company who did this, but people heard thatShockwave was going to be in it, and asumed that he was going to be the main vilian. I'll admit, his character was wasted as there was so much more potential for him, but with people doing everything they can to find out all the secrets of the movie before hand, i can't blame them for trying to use him to throw everyone off the main plot of the movie.

As far as Optimus behavior is concerned, you have the fandom to directly blame for this. They were the ones that bitched and complained about how weak he was in the first movie. Then he becomes the bad ass he should be and people still want to bitch. Bay really has tried to aplease not only the fans, but everyone (he can't just focus on fan requests other wise the movie would be a total and complete failure.) BUt alas,...As long as Bay's name is attached to the TF franchise, your never going to make them (the fandom) happy. No matter what is done.

As critical as I am of certain flaws in Bay's TF movies, I have to agree with what 5150 Cruiser said. OP was made more bad-ass because fans hated how he got his as handed to him by Megatron in TF1. It wasn't perfect, but it shows that Bay actually put in an effort to rectify things.

In the case of OP being weak, Spielberg actually has to shoulder some of the blame, if not all of it. He insisted that Sam be given the honors of killing Megatron, to make him the star of the show. That meant that OP had to get beaten up by Megs in order to be rescued.

As for OP shooting Sentinel in the head, it could have been remedied by simply adding a few lines like, "This is for Ironhide." To have his friend and mentor kill his long-time comrade in arms in cold blood would have driven OP into a massive sense of vengeance.

Yes, Bay should have made it clearer to the audience, but it does make sense that OP would be plenty pissed by his mentor's depraved actions.

Overall, DOTM suffered from some harsh editing, and could have benefited from a smoother flow of scenes and more explanations given. Still, IMO it's not half bad as far as action movies go.

Haha.. Thanks Man. I think what it really comes down to is having the ability to comprimise a little. If people would understand this then we all would be alot happier.

This time around i really hope they release the book after the the release of the movie in threaters. I don't know how many things were ruined because of spoilers from the book. This is how i found out about Sentenial prime betraying the autobots. Never did understand about wanting to know every detail about a movie before watching.
