Profile: Reserved, somewhat shy and a bit naive, Streamlight is not likely to be found amongst his peers. The young mech prefers to keep to himself. He becomes nervous around the other guards at the Garrus 9 penal institute.
Deemed unfit for military duty prior to the war as a Seeker and before finding himself as a guard at G9 Streamlight spent his time as a paper pusher. He worked with a high profile law firm who in turn had been retained by several senators. Streamlight was sure to do as he was told and had learned long ago not to question anything. That philosophy worked well for him, for a time.
As his work and responsibilities increased Streamlight noticed that the legal representatives were spending more and more time out with the senators and upon their arrival back to the firm they would vanish behind closed doors. Not wanting to catch the ire of his employers, Streamlight simply turned a blind eye to the comings and goings. It wasn’t until the discovery of the gladiatorial battles did he begin to realize that something within the government just wasn’t right.
When the illegal battles grew more popular with the populace and the senate took action Streamlight remained loyal to his employers who were convinced that the senate was right in enforcing the unpopular caste system. It wasn’t until the arrival of one Seeker brought before the senate when things began to fall into place. The senate was eliminated leaving the law firm bankrupt and a target.
Several of the legal assistants were caught in the crossfire, taking a majority of the blame for the illicit activities the firm had become involved with. Since they handled most of the paperwork for the company they were an easy target, even though the criminal activities were well hidden in the documents.
Streamlight, along with the other low level employees with the firm, had found themselves incarcerated for sins of their employers. After several interviews and some convincing, Streamlight was the only assistant from the firm that agreed to testify against his former employers and their clients.
It was only after the trial that he learned that the mechs he worked for were taking bribes in return for certain outcomes during trials, outcomes that the senate wanted. The senate paid good money and wanted nothing but the best outcome for themselves and the people they backed.
Disillusioned by what he’d heard and been put through, Streamlight found himself wondering what his life meant. At that time the war was in its infancy and both sides were doing everything they could to recruit as many soldiers as was possible. One such recruiter came across the downtrodden Streamlight and offered him a way to give his life meaning. The young mech took up the invitation readily but soon realized that he was unfit for the battlefield. He had always been uneasy around others and in crowds. That, combined with the chaos and violence of the frontlines rendered him ineffective. However, he proved quite skilled at long range gunnery, where he was away from the crowds of people and the chaos of closer quarters combat.
Deployment after deployment Streamlight returned with more kills than the other mechs in his squad, but for him there was no satisfaction. The real danger of the intense combat finally broke him down and he requested to be taken off the active duty roster and sent somewhere he could make a difference without a weapon trained on someone’s head. He arrived at Garrus 9 just a few months later.
Abilities: Streamlight’s weapon of choice is a long range laser rifle which he acquired when he first joined the Autobot cause. His aim is excellent but he’s no match for the likes of Sureshot. In his alt mode, Streamlight can reach a top speed of Mach 2.9 for a range of 1800 miles.
Since his arrival at Garrus 9, Streamlight has had no reason to use his alt mode. After the first few months of work he decided to remove the weapons from his alternate mode. His superiors advised against such an action, but Streamlight felt confident enough that he would not need them while working as a guard.
Weaknesses: Streamlight is insecure around other mechs and is reluctant to make friends. He can be naïve at times usually believing much of what he’s told or overhears. If by chance he needed to revert to his alt made he would not have the use of his weaponry. Relying on his speed and maneuverability would be only chance of surviving such an attack.
