Me too, it's pretty cool! :D

is there a way of giving it a smooth surface? I've considered sandpapering and polishing it, but wanted to ask beforehand. I have it in White strong and flexible.

Now all I need is that CrazyDevy head, if only TFSource would accept my postcode, I think I'll just take the more expensive route and buy it from bbts instead.

I just got my Crazy devy Superion head in.
It does not work on Classics Superion, and even if it did, it's comically over sized for the figure and the plastic quality isn't worth the money it costs.

That suuuuucks. At least you can resell it if that's the only reason you got it.

I hope so.I wouldn't know what else to do with it.
I think I'll go and paint the combiners original head with black and gold paint to emulate the original.

Here's my (crapy) paint work:
Image
Sorry bout the quality.

I have to say, the original head horns look awesome in black and gold. The only bad thing is that the horns are made of this stupid bendy rubbery material and the paint doesn't quite dry or spread as well as it does on plastic.

I think I'll strip the paint and ask my friend to cast it in black resin and paint that.

Hey, that ain't bad. I've been thinking about trying to find a gold sharpie felt. Maybe that would work better?

Before I just stuck the G1 head on it I had made a antennae piece that replaced that crest. I unscrewed the head, pulled out the soft plastic piece and cut off the side fins, and attached the more G1 side spokes to it and reassembled the head. The antennae/spokes were made from just a styrene rod sticking out of a styrene tube and it would look like guns on the "Silverbolt" jet mode. I only scrapped it because the paint just didn't work! The gold didn't look right, the yellow didn't look right, nothing! So I just plopped a G1 KO helmet on the smaller head and called it a day.

Before you do that, try finding a friend who paints miniatures and ask if they have any P3 Paints by Privateer Press. It's a liquid pigment acrylic. Provides excellent coverage.

I'd suggest going and buying it, but not sure if you want to buy a $3 paint bottle for a single project.

I am aware this is an older thread but it's mine. I also have a reason. ;) I'm looking at buying this. http://www.shapeways.com/model/157589/s ... ler-2.html Yes finally. I was wondering if anyone could give me pointers on what material to buy it in. I have no paint skills but I can easily do a couple spray applications if needed. I really would like to keep the detail as best as possible without doing a bunch of prep work. So, pointers?

WSF is what you need. If you want to pay for more, then get FUD.

I had bought the #4 version for my superion: http://www.shapeways.com/model/168506/s ... ler-4.html

I would recommend getting the white strong and flexible polished, as the white almost matches Silverbolt's colourscheme already, I didn't even bother to paint mine and you can't even notice it.

I got the 4th one in WSF and didn't paint it either. It's good to go straight out of the bag and having the hip movement is better for balance even when it's just standing straight on the shelf. Pics are earlier in the thread if you want to check it out.

Thanks for the responses. I somehow managed to miss the 4th version when I was searching. Looks like I've got it all nailed down. Thanks again.

What i also did with mine was too add some G1 stickers from a Reprolabels superion sticker set i had kickin around. You may not be into stickers but it adds a little flare where needed.

I love reprolabels...Without them my figures would have no flare what so ever

Banjo-tron and I were discussing bot choices for Superion, and he asked me to share a few pics of my custom Skydive.

To recap from the other thread, here is what I used:
Skydive was the one I cobbled together from Universe Skydive & Fireflight.
I was able to parts swap with what I had and make him all grey.
If you used the wings from a second E. Skyshadow, it would be even better, but I didn't have one available.

And a few quick snaps:

Superion with a mix of Energon and Universe parts.
No, I don't have the FP set.
Image

A group shot to show size comparison.
Man is he teeny compared to Devy!
And Devy is
A) in the Back, and
B) in a pretty wide stance because he JUST barely fits on the shelf
Image

Another group shot.
Image

A close up of the custom leg.
And Runamuck, or is it Runabout?
Geez, it's Frumble all over again.

Looks really nice man! Shame that pedantic guy kicked us off the other thread. I will take pics of mine this afternoon. One question - to access the waist/hips, did you manage to get the long pin that goes through the torso out? I tried for ages with mine, heating it up to about a million degrees with my soldering iron. Eventually, I just ploughed through the combiner joint with the soldering iron to get access, and melted it out from there! So props to you if you managed to do the job more elegantly.

Here are a couple of pictures for now. I think he ties in much better with the other Aerialbots now. The below pic is with the original fireflight - you can see that I have made the red more vibrant and in keeping with the others. I also swapped all of the grey parts from original Skydive and the 'cuffs' as well. There are also a couple of pictures of him hanging with the replacement Skydive.

Here's mine. I've added some stickers too the chest area, wings and upper legs. I'm still wondering what stickers i may still add. I have plenty left on that sticker sheet.
Sadly i don't have any of the other releases of Superion Maximuis. Just the ROTF one but whatever. They still do the job.
