So anybody messing around with SWTOR yet? I'm looking forward to the big November testing weekend XD

It's been a blast so far. I put all my time into it in my first weekend but then I remember it's a beta and not the actual thing, lol. Been rocking the Jedi Counsular, and levelled into a Shadow. Too fun.

I got a Smuggler up to level 19 or so, then, realizing time is running out, tried out a Sith Inquisitor. (Twi'lek, female, pink, hot) Yeah, it's been amazing. As soon as I get the money, I'm so getting it. I don't even care that I'd have to pay subscription fees.

This is always true with Twi'leks. ;)

Anyhow, what is this like compared to WoW? I really like the looks of this.

played in both the last 2 beta weekends. got a trooper to lvl21, and an imperial agent and inquisitor to lvl 7 each. seems like it's going to be a lot of fun.

is it like WoW? I suppose so. I haven't played that in years, but there are definitely similarities. You control a character in 3rd person view, you interact with the same world other players do. There's chat, and a toolbar at the bottom of the screen for your abilities. I mostly play City of Heroes for my MMO fix, but am looking forward to SWTOR. Picking uo my pre-ordered Collectors Edition this coming week.

Things I really like:

The storylines. It's very much a Mass Effect/Dragon Age/KOTOR type of roleplay, where you can have your character act to differing degrees of how you want them to. In one Flashpoint my team and I were given the option to save a bunch of guys, and have to do a lot more work, or let them all die for a quick fix to the situation we were in.

The companions. It's a great feeling when you get your first lackey...I mean, companion. It's a bit of extra help in combat (I had my trooper running about on Coruscant for a while handing in missions, and let my companion take care of the mobs I'd been aggro-ing whilst doing so) and you can send them off to do stuff for you. If you're miles away from a vendor and get full bags (as I often do in these types of game) I can send my companion off to sell my junk in a minute, rather than quick travelling or having to abandon the quest at hand for a 10minute run.

The quests. Sure, there are some "kill 10 womprats" type quests, or "pick up 10 collectables" but these tend to fall into a larger quest area, and even when they don't, you'll get some sad old codger, or hot girl explaining why you have to do it, and so it feels like you're doing it all for a reason other than levelling up. Anything above that level of intricacy is usually fun and story progressing, so you really do want to do it.

The setting. I'm a big Star Wars geek, I'll admit it freely, on this Transformer message board. :P Walking around the different planets, ships and cantinas, it's a lot of fun, and there's been a really good job done on making the places feel Star Wars-y. A lot of it is little things, but it really all ties the thing together for me, and the atmosphere of the game is what will probably keep me playing for a while.

I figured more than a few of us will be playing the SWTOR game so this can be the thread we use to communicate, share, and run smack. If anyone else is planning on playing early, let me know what server...perhaps a Seibertron guild can be formed?

I got my early access, but I have a job and I'm in two choirs (with concerts coming up for the holidays), so I'm only at level 8 so far.

I joined the Remarkable Circumference guild some time ago, and we got placed on the Shadowlands server. (Ironically, I only really post on this message board, rather than on Penny Arcade's, but I was looking for a big casual guild.)

I'm playing a Bounty Hunter currently, and I love my explosive darts!
I played Republic during weekend betas so I could save the Imp story for launch and not have to play through it again.

What servers are everybody on? I haven't gotten my early access yet and probably won't until either Friday or Monday since I only pre-ordered on this past Monday (I took my time and did my research, watched review videos and game play, heard from people on their experiences, etc, before buying it- I've been sorely disappointed by the last couple MMOs I played so I wanted to be sure).

I do have to say that this staggered early start thing is really kind of stupid. Yes, reward the folks who preordered in July, but don't penalize those of us who wanted to do our due diligence before hooking the game up. Maybe give the July people two extra days, then get everyone else in. Or at the very least, give us an idea of when we can jump in, rather than just having us watch the grass grow.

Well, I'm up to level 18 on my Bounty Hunter Merc on The Shadowlands, and I've basically caught up to the point I was at with my weekend testing Jedi Shadow.

I like the space combat, such as it is. I plan on running a crazy amount of those missions until I'm sick of them, maybe go back to the 2nd planet and nail some heroic quests and gather datacrons, and finally move onto Balmorra or whatever the next planet is.

How are others progressing?

Well, I've officially joined for-realz. So if you see a pink Twi'lek Sith Bitch, remember, she's not just a man, she's Shadowman.

I am so impressed by this game. The interaction with quest givers slows the game down, but it also draws you into the story in a way that hasn't been seen in any MMO before. When I played WoW, it was skim the text, look and see what was required, and go grind it. This is completely different and it's fantastic. I can't stick to one character at this point...I have five characters at this point, but only one has reached the specialization level (Level 16 Sith Marauder). I have a level 10 Republic trooper, a lvl 8 Jedi Knight, a level 8 Bounty Hunter, and a level 5 Sith Inquisitor. In each case, I get sucked into the individual storyline. I'm also impressed with the "Story Instance" areas...it makes you feel like you are the only one doing the storyline, as if you were the star of the show.

I also hae signed up long term and look forward to seeing what is to come.

My Sith Sorcerer (Twi'lek female) and my Jedi Shadow (Miraluka female) both have theirs. Also three other characters (Jedi Knight, Bounty Hunter, and a Smuggler) who I haven't been giving much attention to. Probably going to focus on them next.

And yeah, space combat is swank right out of the box. Most likely it gets better.

Lieutenant Pootis reporting. I must be the odd man out, because I rolled a Republic Trooper/Commando.

Why Commando? I wanted a BFG.

Anyways, I'm on a server called The Constant and about level 14. Absolutely love the game so far.

Nope, I rolled one as well. I rolled one of everything, actually. Haven't played him much, though, but I did like how he makes things explode.

This is basically a picture of what is now more-or-less my main as well as my full list of characters and also my server. But do me a favor, I'm having fun with keeping my gender ambiguous, try not to wreck that for me.

Can do.

I rolled a total of four characters on two diferent servers. The Constant has the Trooper/Commando and a Jedi Knight/Sentinel. The other server, Sword of Ajunta Pal, has an Imperial Agent/Sniper and a Sith Warrior/Maruader. The Trooper and Sith Warrior share a name because "Darth Pootis" sounds hysterical.
