I wouldnt count on all the Autobots. Volkswagen, Jeep, and Corvette may not be as willing to license their old school cars to Hasbro. Same thing with who ever owns the Wheeljack or Mirage race cars. Maybe Trailbreaker/Hoist since it was a GM vechicle.

I'd worry a lot more about all the sponsors Mirage and Wheeljack have. Ho boy.

Trailbreaker and Hoist are Toyota brand trucks, which falls under the Toyota Motor Corporation, or TMC. TMC currently owns the Toyota, Scion, Lexus, Daihatsu and Hino Motors brands.

If they changed VW's minds for the Lambo rights, then everyone else will fall in line. I'm sure Nissan is happy with the coolness of the Alternity GTR's. My guess is these will be original Z's.

As far as everyone else, they got Binaltech's, and with older models, most companies aren't trying to make money of old designs. I'd say there's a good shot at getting everyone, with only BB, Jazz and CJ being the two biggest pain in the asses

I always thought Trailbreaker and Hoist were Ford Broncos. Theres always repro labels for those unwilling sponsors like Alitalia on Wheeljack. But who owns made the car ? Same thing for Mirage ? How about Inferno and Grapple ? We know Volkswagen wont let Bumblebee happen. Did porshe say no in the past ? And WTF is Cliffjumper anyways ? In my childhood I always assumed he was a Honda...

The only difference between the Prowl molds and Smokescreen is a spoiler, a modified front end, and no light bar. The internal parts, doors, hood, everything else is EXACTLY the same.

Can't wait for Mirage's turn to get his MP treatment. He was my first (and only) G1 TF as a kid, and was my favorite toy for years. Lost him when I moved about a decade ago, and there's little chance of an Encore toy, since the mold is gone.

An MP Mirage wold be a dream come true for me.

It's been said before, Cliffjumper is a Porsche 924. As for the rest:

Bumper: Nissan/Familia 1500 XG
Windcharger: Pontiac Firebird Trans Am
Gears: Chevrolet S-10 or something similar
Huffer: undetermined
Brawn: Land Rover or Toyota Land Cruiser (though he was marketed as Jeep in Microman)

It doesn't help that they were meant to transform into toy cars, so the proportions are a bit exaggerated.

Is my memory playing tricks on me or do I remember it being said Hasbro will be releasing Masterpiece Soundwave and Sideswipe this year as exclusives??

I just wanted to make sure that I am not imagining things... I also ask to confirm, thinking maybe, just MAYBE the same would happen for these things too ng them

Well I can hope... I also kinda need to know so I can order Soundwave and Sideswipe with my income tax refund if Hasbro ISN'T realeasing them this year

My guess is that Sunstreaker will share a mold with Wheeljack. With a few different parts of course.

The retool for Prowl>Silverstreak will be super easy. For Lambor>Red Alert all they had to do was plug in a light bar where the weapon goes on Lambor. Simple, easy, and cheap!

It does matter, because while G1 Sideswipe an Sunstreaker have very similar alt modes, they have completely different bot modes. And the whole point of the MP line is to be as G1-accurate as possible. That's why MP-12T is Tigertracks and not Sunstreaker. If they were going to make Sunstreaker be a lame Sideswipe repaint, they would have named it MP-12S and called it a day. At this point Takara would be more likely to not do Sunstreaker at all than to make it a half-assed repaint. But considering they got the rights to use Lambo designs and logos, I think there's a good chance they'll want to get their money's worth and go for a full on Sunstreaker.

Interesting idea... and quite possible as they share a very similar transformation scheme. It would have to be an extensive remold because the outside of the cars are pretty different. They could share a lot of robot parts though.

enough of this "make sideswipe into sunstreaker" already. it's not going to happen. hasbro might be dumb enough to try and pass red alert painted yellow to us.. but takara isn't.

and like it was stated before, changing prowl into bluestreak or smokescreen is COMPLETELY different than changing sideswipe into sunstreaker... and if you look at red alert they went ahead and added fake shoulder wheels to be more accurate, if it was all about saving money, they wouldn't have done that.

Happy about these new additions. Pre-ordered instantly.

Predicted this when I figured out why Sideswipe was being done first (right down to an eventual Tigertrack/Deep Cover/Clampdown).

In terms of what follows, I suspect (license situations pending) that this is what will follow it:

Grapple/Inferno/Artfire (with eHobby MP Hauler exclusive)

Ratchet/Ironhide (with eHobby Diaclone Ironhide/Rescue Ratchet exclusives)

Hoist/Trailbreaker (with possible eHobby blue Trailbreaker exclusive)

Jazz/Stepper

Skids (with eHobby Skids/Mudflap/Crosscut exclusives)

Tracks (with eHobby Roadrage exclusive)

Hound (with eHobby Detritus exclusive)

Sunstreaker (with possible eHobby Red/Police variant exclusives)

Wheeljack (with possible eHobby Marlboro exclusive)

Mirage (with possible eHobby red variant exclusive)

Now I could be way off base here, however provided licenses don't prove an issue, then this would be the order of Autobot cars we'd see going from most most reuses to least mould reuses and prioritising mainstream releases over exclusives.

Also with Artfire and Stepper, even their guns could be reused when Cyclonus finally comes along as from memory, their guns share the same mould as Nightstick.

The Decepticons are sorely outnumbered. While I welcome new additions, it's quickly becoming an Autobot lovefest

I honestly wouldn't be surprised if the first MP combiner we got was Devastator. Besides, after we get a V2 Megatron, a V2 Skywarp, conehead seekers and Shockwave, we'll have all the 84/85 Cons. Heck in the next 2 months, we're getting 6 MP Cons.

The Autobots in terms of the 84/85 line though, have been significantly neglected for some time.

You forgot about Reflector. And yes, I will keep bringing up Reflector. He is an essential part of G1 S1. He needs some love. How can you not love a creepy robot with one mind and multiple bodies that always speak in unison. I really want a cartoon accurate version. I would be very happy to even get him before Megatron, as Megatron isn't a matter of if, he's a matter of when. Plus, we are getting a Megatron stand-in, as one of Soundwave's accessories, which will look great in Starscream's hand.

I would also like to see additional repaints of the MP-11 seeker mould, after Thundercracker and Skywarp of course. I think this would be a great way for Takara to make some extra money to cover their tooling budget. I personally would love to get some of those background seekers to fill out my Masterpiece collection. Just don't include the coronation set (I'm looking at you Sunstorm), this will hopefully reduce the price a bit, I would be more than happy to pay $130-$150 a piece.
