The only difference between the Prowl molds and Smokescreen is a spoiler, a modified front end, and no light bar. The internal parts, doors, hood, everything else is EXACTLY the same.

There is not a single part of the figure shared at all between G1 Sideswipe and Sunstreaker. They are totally different molds with totally different transformation schemes.

Doesn't matter, it's a new line, it would save them money.
having to remold bumpers and rears, is about as much difference as
Sstreaker would be to SSwipe at this point. I highly doubt Takara will go through the effort of making a whole new mold, just to have it transform like the old brick.

I wouldnt count on all the Autobots. Volkswagen, Jeep, and Corvette may not be as willing to license their old school cars to Hasbro. Same thing with who ever owns the Wheeljack or Mirage race cars. Maybe Trailbreaker/Hoist since it was a GM vechicle.

I'd worry a lot more about all the sponsors Mirage and Wheeljack have. Ho boy.

Trailbreaker and Hoist are Toyota brand trucks, which falls under the Toyota Motor Corporation, or TMC. TMC currently owns the Toyota, Scion, Lexus, Daihatsu and Hino Motors brands.

If they changed VW's minds for the Lambo rights, then everyone else will fall in line. I'm sure Nissan is happy with the coolness of the Alternity GTR's. My guess is these will be original Z's.

As far as everyone else, they got Binaltech's, and with older models, most companies aren't trying to make money of old designs. I'd say there's a good shot at getting everyone, with only BB, Jazz and CJ being the two biggest pain in the asses

I always thought Trailbreaker and Hoist were Ford Broncos. Theres always repro labels for those unwilling sponsors like Alitalia on Wheeljack. But who owns made the car ? Same thing for Mirage ? How about Inferno and Grapple ? We know Volkswagen wont let Bumblebee happen. Did porshe say no in the past ? And WTF is Cliffjumper anyways ? In my childhood I always assumed he was a Honda...

Trail breaker and Hoist are Toyota Hilux
Wheeljack is Lancia Stratos
Mirage roughly based on Ligier JS-11 F1
Inferno and Grapple are Mitsubishi Fuso's
IronHide and Ratchet Nissan onebox Vanette
Jazz Porsche 935 Turbo racer.

Cool. But what is Cliffjumper ? Any other comparisons for Gears, Huffer, Brawn, Windcharger would also be cool to know...

This is really cool news, but it makes me ask this of my fellow Seibertronians...

Is my memory playing tricks on me or do I remember it being said Hasbro will be releasing Masterpiece Soundwave and Sideswipe this year as exclusives??

I just wanted to make sure that I am not imagining things... I also ask to confirm, thinking maybe, just MAYBE the same would happen for these things too ng them

Well I can hope... I also kinda need to know so I can order Soundwave and Sideswipe with my income tax refund if Hasbro ISN'T realeasing them this year

My guess is that Sunstreaker will share a mold with Wheeljack. With a few different parts of course.

The retool for Prowl>Silverstreak will be super easy. For Lambor>Red Alert all they had to do was plug in a light bar where the weapon goes on Lambor. Simple, easy, and cheap!

It does matter, because while G1 Sideswipe an Sunstreaker have very similar alt modes, they have completely different bot modes. And the whole point of the MP line is to be as G1-accurate as possible. That's why MP-12T is Tigertracks and not Sunstreaker. If they were going to make Sunstreaker be a lame Sideswipe repaint, they would have named it MP-12S and called it a day. At this point Takara would be more likely to not do Sunstreaker at all than to make it a half-assed repaint. But considering they got the rights to use Lambo designs and logos, I think there's a good chance they'll want to get their money's worth and go for a full on Sunstreaker.

Interesting idea... and quite possible as they share a very similar transformation scheme. It would have to be an extensive remold because the outside of the cars are pretty different. They could share a lot of robot parts though.

enough of this "make sideswipe into sunstreaker" already. it's not going to happen. hasbro might be dumb enough to try and pass red alert painted yellow to us.. but takara isn't.

and like it was stated before, changing prowl into bluestreak or smokescreen is COMPLETELY different than changing sideswipe into sunstreaker... and if you look at red alert they went ahead and added fake shoulder wheels to be more accurate, if it was all about saving money, they wouldn't have done that.
