The addition of the minions is a cool concept, but it's been done before. I think giving them all new bodies and transformations would spice up interest and bring in more business. At it's current state, given the price, it's not worth the commitment in my humble opinion. Why can't it be a Masterpiece sized version of Soundwave in an alternate mode that resembles a satelitte? That was fresh and drove the market in a new direction!

IIRC, the Masterpiece line was started as an homage to the G1 designs, as sort of a commemorative line. The idea is to update on the original G1 toys with today's toy-making technology.
There's always the possibility of Takara starting an offshoot line for re-imagined G1 TF's, but so far they haven't made any mention of such a move.

BUT YOU MISSED OUT ON MP-10! He beats the cassettes in my opinion.

Looking at the ORIGINAL molds (not the Movie Masterpieces, they're repaints of prereleased molds) in the Masterpiece line it's pretty obvious that G1 hommage is the aim. The G1 deco Starscream (MP-03 repaint) even boasts on his box that it recreates the 80's appearance.

Exactly, I wouldn't buy an MP that wasn't 100% G1 accurate. That's the only continuity I care about, and the only reason I buy MP figures, if he was anything other than a G1 tape player, I wouldn't have looked at him twice. Yay Soundwave, can not wait!!

Strange i've always liked the outcast characters like Buzzsaw and Reflector.
Fingers crossed the next MP will be Reflector or Shockwave (w/Ratbat)
A masterpiece Reflector would be a great piece, unfortunately the character is not popular enough for the masterpiece treatment. I wonder if it would actually sell.
Yep and that's the reality of it Hasbro haven't really ever cared for the character would TakaraTomy think the same (i doubt it). The expenditure alone is too high 3 big figures all with different workings (ok two would be the same just reversed).
But hey i can hope!

Let's not forget that Soundwave was packaged with Buzzsaw, not Laserbeak.

Wasnt there a 3rd party MP Soundwave due, is that still going ahead or was it canned in the light of an official figure?

Damn that is beautiful, but still way too pricey for me. Gonna wait until Hasbro releases their version instead.

It seems to have quietly faded away, there hasn't been any news since it's last redesign was shown.

Thanks. Hate to think how much was spent on developing that.
