Meaning? That the design was altered?

See, that's where the difference between retool and separate mold enters a grey area. SL Galvatron could very well be downsized from Energon Megatron from the design sketches on, using the same design cues but executing them in two different sizes.
Starscream is a bit harder to properly place, as the differences between the Voyager and the Supreme are quite numerous. It is possible that TakaraTomy went ahead with an earlier version of the design, and that Hasbro refined it for the Supreme.

I do hope they upscale Optimus to a voyager just like they did with Soundwave. I'll be getting that Blaster, but not Soundwave and Soundblaster, the deluxe Soundwave is good enough.

They don't need to upscale all the others, just Optimus (and Ultra Magnus). Eventhough I already own Optimus :).

Hmph. Would you look at that. They're better than the U.S release. I'm so surprised.

Yep, although I don't agree with them dropping the blue from Jazz entirely, these look significantly better than the Hasbro versions. Too bad they cost more than twice as much.

Jazz looks mucgh better than Hasbro's version. However I'm uninterested in the mold itself.

Personally, that Prime is too shiny for me to feel like it belongs in a war.

But that Jazz has an extremely accurate deco, unlike Bizarre Blue Jazz we got from Hasbro.

I never felt the need to get Hasbro's Optimus Prime but I must admit I like Takara's.

Not a line I plan to collect, but I always love how they handle their collaborated series. Because when they do something like this, they add that eye candy element that makes me think they are worth having on display. 8) But until then... I hope to see their equally amazing packaging. :BOT:

That, and this is the kind of paintjob I wish they had done with the Sixshot reissue. Second thought - I hope that if they make a Japanese version of that reissue, they use this redeco style. That, and turn the chrome guns a metallic white. (Because then I'd buy it regardless of packaging style and box art.) :michaelbay:

Well, that Optimus does pretty much everything that I was trying to accomplish with my custom painted one. Plus it has that nice shiny paint. Jazz looks pretty good too, though I prefer the blue to the purple. Oh well, might as well pre-order these.

Wow, I must be the only person who just can't stand that purple-ish gray color on Jazz. I do think the shinier white looks better (though I wonder if the actual figure will look like that), and the additional paint apps are wonderful... But I just can't get over that color, I think Hasbro's blue is better than that. Of course I wonder why we couldn't just get a properly colored version with black and blue colors. Also the color looks more washed-out that the color in FoC, at least to me. I guess I'm just too much of a G1 Jazz fan? :P

As for Prime, I think he might be too shiny. Really though, I'd rather have the overly-shiny Prime with the silver parts instead of the depressingly sucky light gray on the Hasbro one. That said I really don't like Prime's FoC look, so I'll be sticking with WfC Prime. :P That said I would consider getting FoC Prime if they made a voyager version with a improved transformation (not just an upscale).

I totally agree. If it wasn't such an awful mold, I'd buy this one too.

The only thing I don't like about the mold is the sculpting of his head. :BOOM: The rest looked pretty nice, down to the TRON tires.

Why can't you be in America with us to get better toys from you than Hasbro, Takara? If you design toys like the ones shown, could you at least sell them at hard to find places?

Yep, definitely sticking with my preorder. Takara wins...again.

I'm getting to the point where I'm considering skipping all Hasbro releases entirely. With Takara, I always have to wait longer, but they're always so much better. Sure, it means that I have to pull off some ugly Arms Micron ports from their AM figures using pliers, but it works and they end up looking soooo much better (even with stickers) than the stuff that Hasbro has given us.

Hasbro focuses on price, Takara focuses on accuracy. For me as a collector, that makes Takara the clear choice, especially now that I'm not collecting as many lines as I used to (most of my catching up on lines I missed in the past is done now).

I like the Optimus too and is again better than the Hasbro version.
I am more willing to spend on the Takara versions than the Hasbro versions because they look better and are nicer to look at.Well done Takara :APPLAUSE:!!
