Takara Tomy designer Shogo Hasui has taken to his twitter account to deliver our first Transformers Masterpiece MP-17 Prowl teaser. Just a silhouette at the moment, hopefully we'll get a real look at this highly anticipated figure sooner than later. Site sponsors have this figure listed for a July release, with MP-18 Smokecreen and MP-19 Bluestreak repaints to follow in August and September.

I was just about to post the same thing! This is driving me a little insane because now it's all I'll be able to think about. Can't wait for an official reveal!

I gotta say, getting MP Lambor & MP Streak within the same year is like winning some kind of TF lotto for me. What a great, and expensive year this is going to be!

Lightened it up and you can see a few details. I'm sure someone out there can do better job manipulating the image.

Yeah I was just going to say, massive car feet! But it already looks better than the Alternators Subaru mold. So far so good!

That they die horrendously?

Hmm... happened to Prowl once already.

And Flywheels. Never forget where all those spare parts come from.

From the look of the headlight, it looks like Prowl will be true to his original late 70's Datsun Fairlady 280ZX form. That's pretty freakin' awesome.

Since they're being true to the original car makes, I guess we're never going to see Jazz or even Bumblebee with those German car makers avoid toys with guns. Bummer.

WIt you on this one. I'm already calling this one as: all the confirmed models (Prowl, Bluestreak, Smokescreen) plus a minor retool will result in Jazz/Stepper/Ricochet. SHould be able to get 6 or 7 figures from this mold.

You cannot turn this:

into this:

with a mere minor retool. Forgetting about the difference in the shoulders, the chest transforms radically differently, the waist is fundamentally different and the feet/legs transformation is fundamentally different.

Yes Hasbro might try it because in their market, adult collectors make up the minority. However we are talking about Takara, whose bread and butter are adult collectors and where the Masterpiece line is a mainstream retail release. Furthermore Prowl and Meister are very popular characters, so there's no way in hell they're going to cut corners with either.

He looks pretty good for a silhouette!

Prowl didn't have shoulder cannons in the cartoon.

Yessssss! Too bad it's only a teaser picture. I've been waiting for a reveal of at least one of the new MP's since they were announced. But still, even with the filter it still looks awesome. Can't wait to see how he actually looks along with smokescreen and bluestreak.

Also, does anybody know if bluestreak is going to use his cartoon colorway or diaclone version?

No word as yet, although I suspect he'll be G1 accurate and the Diaclone colour scheme will be an eHobby exclusive.

Thank you, sounds good to me. I'll probably pick up the G1 bluestreak considering i like his colorway. I feel like i were a transformer i would use black, grey, and red too lmao. :KREMZEEK: kremzeek icon... epic.

Wow, I am impressed they actually made his legs exactly like the cartoon. I thought it would have been too much of a stretch to have those rear windows run all the way up his legs, but they did it.

Only thing that bothers me a little is that since MP is going for moving hand parts...Prowl and Sideswipes fists' look a little too big?

Oh the re-tool will happen. Remember Takara are the ones bold enough to paint Scourge purple, give him a new head, and call him Ratbat. Takara is also the one who were too lazy to remove the stupid light up hand gimmick on their version of G1 Unicron. Takara is so lazy they dont even assemble their arms microns, they give you an unasembled kit.(WTF?) Takaras strength is paint and they will make this mold look just like Jazz. The feet will spin around to simulate the proper look, and the wheels on the shoulders will probally flip up. Shoulder cannons will be clip on.

I thought Hasbro was the lazy one.

A few points:

1) Ratbat uses the pre-planned alternate head of the Gen. Scourge mold that would go unused otherwise.
2) Odd, you want TakaraTomy to remove a gimmick, that fans would want to remain intact? :-?
3) Arms Micron was all about model kits and customization, that business is huge with the kids in Japan. TakaraTomy merely hooked into it.
4) Since when is G1 Jazz a Datsun?

1. On ratbat, it's that shiny paint that sold me (and many others Im guessing. Otherwise it's just a purple scourge. ROTF Mindwipe would have probally been a better choice if they really wanted to envoke Senator Ratbat from a neo perspective.

2. Nobody liked the silly light up hand because of lack of symmetry. I never enen put batteries in my Takara version. At least the Hasbro Amazon version gave the clear plastic a silverish tint to make it match his other hand. I own both versions but Takara's colors are more G! movie/cartoon accurate.

3. You got me on the kits. Im just as lazy as Has/Tak and wish they would build them for me. I guess the Japanese like to build/paint alot more. (hence Gundam kits) I only have one Micron (FOC Shockwave) since Im not a TF Prime collector.

4. Remember we are talking about re-tooling here. The transformation is very similar to adapt a porcshe re-shell. The legs can be turned around and the wheels on the the shoulder can be flipped up. If Has/Tak doesnt modify it, Igear might like they did with the seekers.
