Cool, level 7's in the mix! I was surprised I was coming up second in missions where I was still scoring 6k-7k... And AZ, you welcome of course, 'grats on the personal best and you can ALWAYS count on my team to have your back.
I have to side with RoS in only levelling the most useful stats and having the main level come naturally, instead of forcing yourself up to a level which ends up being detrimental because the cheapest stats were also useless. Then again, I also see AZ's point (really, I do!) of a longer term benefit for everyone in the game: I certainly don't mind racking up more xp. It's really a question of giving priority to quantity or quality. Like the question: Would you rather do one hot chick or five ugly chicks...

I was bragging, cause I outscored you. :P Just because you won, and you outleveled me, doesn't make it less brag worthy... right? A mod'll pop up eventually that can split it.

As others level up, those 6-9s and 7-10s will be better pay out missions than the 1-11s are, just gotta be patient. I'll be there asap.

the problem is that means people are gonna have to be around for a long while to make 5+ characters. there are 29 level currently 2 lvl 7's, 7 lvl 6's, 29 lvl 5's, and 158 lvl 4's. so the main issue comes with losing acess to the level 4's. As it is RoS and I have to coordinate just right or we end up getting shafted for a few missions. I take a nap? he's stuk with no opponents in a 6-9 mission. He has (insert something important).. I lose out. When Mkall ever gets some power back it may be worth askin him to take out the top end missions for a lil while just so we can make xp feeders. or atleast tone down the wait time on some of the missions. some of the missions still have like a 30-40 minute join time. could be toned down imho


I think the hope was more people would level faster. Honestly, there's probably a good half dozen characters that might make it to level 6 if they were configured to do so, but short of that, just gotta be patient. If I got active enough, I could probably make 6 in two months tops, but that doesn't help you in the short term.

It'd be awesome if Mkall got his access back, but I'd wager more people will hit 6 before that happens. Maybe if everyone got together and posted a big "Please give Mkall back his admin access for HMW" thread or mass ammount of PMs, but even that'd be iffy.

Actually I e-mailed Ryan asking if he could take a look at the control panel.

Giving Mkall access is just one person. The control panel is available to all HMW Mods* so we can work as a team and not rely on one person.
*Yeah I realise that seems to only be me these days. At least Psychout had the decency to keep us in the loop on why he wouldn't be around.

when it come to the "not spendin xp on useless upgrades" argument, i figure the cost of 3 upgrades to the 3 non rammer stats is about 2 million, or the cost of an upgrade or 2 to a primary stat at 6th-7th level. 9 stats, 2 million. and thats lookin at things the expensive way, depending on the build it can be done a lot cheaper. Energon isn't an issue, and the re-armoring time is a pain, but the main reasons we don't make level level opponents is because we're afraid of losing. Are we gonna max out single tactic alts at 54 million xp and be stuck at level 7? Or are we gonna blow some ranks in skill and Frp to make it to 7 at 14 or 19 million xp? or thin out and make a tank with 7 million, and still able to wipe up all the 5's and under?
My xp is limited by my opponents. So I need higher levels people to give higher xp so i can give higher xp, ect. WHat is the down side here?

Hey AZ, bet you miss the days when me and sprokitz were at the top and weren't afraid of getting our armour scratched by the lower levels. :P

Let me throw this out to N_V and RoS, i'm not attacking you over your playing styles, but don't you get bored of facing each other time and time again?

Don't you get bored having to get in contact and say "hey i'm about to deploy, how about you?"?

The whole purpose of cross level missions is for lower levels to earn more than their base xp and allow themselves to level up quicker thus creating more opponents/allies.

I remember before the reset, there was always some new Autobot commander coming along wanting to have a go at me and I readily obliged by grinding them into the ground.

But they never gave up.

I saw a group of 'Cons join the game around the same time. They rallied together and I watched over months as one particular player better known as "Redimus" rose quickly through the levels because he never played it safe and there were high level Autobots always willing to attempt to grind him down.

Because of all that there were plenty of rivallries, competition was fierce.

Now days ... it's a bottleneck.

To be perfectly honest, the move to level 7 was bad. The missions aren't in place, you'll lose, lower levels won't be able to leech off your xp and level up faster to provide variety.

But then on the flipside I may just be over thinking all of this, remembering the "good old days" and not accepting the simple fact that we don't have the committed player base we use to.

Seriously ... i'm frustrated, I have no idea what to do to revitalise this game that doesn't require coding. Anyone have any suggestions speak up. Otherwise there are times I just feel like giving up.

its not quite that bat, we kinda know when each other should be online.

I'm just bored as all hell with the same configurations on all my team. The "reset" button sits there, mocking me. Daring me to make new builds. You wouldn't believe what the button said about my mother. I had to hit it. It was self defense.

and as for missions not supporting it... well i can avoid the 7-10 missions for the most part. as it is the only missions i really lose access to are the 4-6 missions. I'm tryin to get into as many 1-11's as possible, just to spread the xp around.

I would have responded to this last night, but I was about to go to bed when this came up.

The problem with leveling only the main stats, is eventually you max them out, and really, you're going to pass the level cap before you max them out, I think. And as NV pointed out, then what? What do you do when you maxed them out? Not upgrade anything? All bots are equal at two points in this game. As newly minted level 0s, and at maxed out level 11. Like I said, not everyone should level run, especially not when you got a whole bunch of guys with a lot more XP than you do.

Well, I can't always count on you, cause you're not always on when I am, but it's nice to have back up against the big fish right now.

I'd rather have 5 hot chicks. ^_^

I think there are plenty of players, maybe not as many as before the reset, but there weren't as many before the reset as their was in the first 2 years either. People come and go. The problem seems to be that they're just not active on the boards. This used to be one of the most active forums on seibertron, now it's rare to see people actively posting in it.

I'd like to see another tournie or hunt, but that'll only be a short term fix. We need to get the forum active again. And we need to not be worried about "Oh, this thread's spam, lock it." because that has been slowly killing the game for a long time.

We (as in Psychout and I) have had an idea brewing. I don't really want to go ahead with it without him around as I really want his input on it.

The offer from RoS for the mission scraper is still on the table as well, and having that will make a HUGE difference to any future tournaments we run.

No pressure to get it done RoS. :P

And we need to not be worried about "Oh, this thread's spam, lock it." because that has been slowly killing the game for a long time.


As long as there's SOME semblance of HMW discussion in it we can keep it going. Guess I probably should get around to splitting these posts off. :lol:

We used to have fun talking about crap that was completely unrelated to HMW. I understand the concern that HMW was basically becoming a subcommunity all unto itself on the site, but at the same time, I don't really see the problem with that.

A little off topic is fine, as long as we toss in a few mentions of HMW every now and then. :P

But i'm not a fan of locking threads in the HMW forums unless they're
a)- Someone asking about HMW2.0
b)- Someone asking about Minicons and you gits don't let the thread die!
c)- It actually does spiral out of control and a flame war erupts (pretty rare these days)
and
d)- Anything started by Rage_Bot :P

Hey Burn, when is HMW2.0 going to support Minicons? :P

So I looked at my stats and I can get two of my bots to L7 by the end of the month (if not sooner) without investing in meaningless stats. One more will not be far behind. Additionally, I can get two of my L5s to L6 within that time frame as well. That should satisfy everybody.

I feel bad for making such a stink about the scraper and then not being able to do it. Had some stuff come up (as always). I got sick during my break between projects, then my infant son became very ill and had to get chest X-Rays. I will keep you posted if I get some time freed up. I still would like to do it sometime.

I hate when mods go and randomly lock threads. Especially discussion threads, because of the way it's usually done. People are debating their point of views, mod comes in, says "I say this is the case." then locks the thread, basically saying their opinion is right, because they can lock a thread. It's pretty childish. It makes me want to drop babies on rocks.

Going back to Burn's earlier rant... can I just say that my biggest disappointment when returning to the game is the lack of the good ol' fashioned 0-10 Big Brawl missions? I still have memories of sending in one of my 'Bots to one of those missions, realizing that one of Burn's 'Cons is on the other side, and totally going "Oh SHI--." XD

((And Burn, a mod now? Geez, what has happened to Seibertron in the years I've been MIA? :P ))

Level 0's will only see level 0 missions. They shouldn't see any cross-level missions as far as I know because we decided we didn't like cross level missions for level 0's as they don't really stand a chance.

Better not to have 0's in multi level battles if only to just discourage people trying to create second or third teams (which is still not allowed) on the opposite faction to create XP generators.

There used to be, long time ago. The problem is, you'd have a huge power range varying between high Level 1's and freshly built Level 0's. As Burn said, Level 0's never stood a chance in 0-1 missions, even those almost to Level 1. I have seen Level 0's being blamed for a mission loss simply because one side had more 0's in it than the other side.

I agree with Burn and Editor. Level 0's need to only fight only other Level 0's.

Look at is "training camp". They're going to have enough of a struggle when they hit their 5th upgrade and find themselves against level 3's.

And yes, there has been animosity in the past with some people accussing lower levels of being the ones that "lost the mission". Even though a good bulk of those missions still had open slots (so more stronger bots could have joined if they wanted to) and/or a Freak sitting in them (generally why more stronger bots wouldn't join because of FEAR). That was mostly in the 1-11 missions, which really were meant for shits and giggles hence why their frequency is suppose to be set low.

The other thing with level 0's entering cross level missions is a lot of us felt it was a great deterant. People would join up, find themselves losing a lot, see how long it took to level up and decided the game wasn't worth it.
