I stated how there is more evidence to the Liege Maximo in that video than there is Unicron. And the Liege Maximo is definitely not one to be trifled with.

How many of those same people knew who The Fallen was prior to the ROTF movie?

Or, hey, how many of those same people knew who Unicron was prior to Armada? Or who Primus was prior to Energon and/or Cybertron?

It's isn't uncommon to reintroduce an obscure concept to a new audience.

I'm just saying instead of bringing some faceless big Green Mothertrucker who barley ever made a dent in Transformers lore. Use the one guy who put us in a three years limbo. Either that or boot Prime TV executive always seem to kill something while it's awesome but for this show I'm making an exception

Didn't you just say that you didn't want Unicron in this show?

Besides, Hasbro is trying to finally get the story of the Original 13 underway with this new mega continuity. They've already covered some ground with them in the Exodus novel by focusing on Alpha Trion and bringing up the names/legacies of Vector Prime, Megatronus/The Fallen, the Liege Maximo, and Prima. And they plan to continue developing this piece of TF history with the Exiles novel featuring the likes of Vector Prime, Nexus Prime, and Solus Prime as actual characters. The Prime cartoon has also been established as being a medium to go into what it means to be a Prime, and that also allows it to get in on this project as well, what with it being a crucial part of this new modern aligned continuity. Sooner or later, the Original 13 may very well become as mainstream as Unicron and Primus are now.

Plus, it's doubtful that Unicron won't ever be used in this show, what with all the allusions to him with Dark Energon and whatnot.

Yeah well this new "mega continuity" sucks harder than Energon. It was going fine with War for Cybertron then BAM We kill The Rock, spit on everything awesome about WFC have incompetent heroes and villains cookie cutter human villains with a predictable scheme with a predictable outcome, and everything else that could have been used to make TFA S4 gone to waste.

Dude, we've barely even scratched the surface of this new reality. There's millions and millions of years to explore between the era of WFC/Exodus/WFC2/Exiles and the era of Prime. As of now, this is only the beginning. We know next to nothing of what this new world holds in store for us. It's too huge a project to even grasp a full understanding of at the moment.

Plus, WFC's story is pretty bare bones and shallow when compared to the amount of history stacked around it in the novel.

1. Like saber said, WFC didn't have much of a story, and this is based on Exodus.
2. While i wish as much as anyone the awesomeness that TFA was could've continued, theywent with this long term investment instead. You have to look at the Big Picture. No one knows who this is. It it Megatronus, Liege Maximo, Scourge, or Unicron? Or maybe someone else who hasn't been seen for a long time.
3. Cliffjumper's story was told in the graphic novel. If he was the only thing you were looking forward to, you were bound for dissapointment.

if you think about how the trailer was presented with the desepticon shield at the end. I bet it is the Fallen. also known as Megatronus Prime. wasn't he one of the original 13. also the original 13 are confirmed to be coming on TF Prime if I am not mistaken.

Yeah, but the Liege Maximo is also one of the Original 13 TF and bears a stronger connection to the Decepticons than The Fallen, having been their direct ancestor.

All depends on the continuity. In ROTF, The Fallen was the first Decepticon.

True. And what I myself said about the Liege Maximo does come from the Marvel Comics continuity rather than this modern one. But even so, between these two, the Liege Maximo was created as a character to be the direct beginning of the Decepticon race, while The Fallen was created as a character to be the "Judas" of the 13.

The two represent two different kinds of evil. The Liege Maximo represents a necessary evil, as though it were a natural force that exists to maintain a balance with good. The Fallen, however, represents an artificial evil, one that has been corrupted from its original pure state. The former suggests that the Decepticons are supposed to exist, as though Primus intended for them to be as they are. While the latter suggest that the Decepticons are a mistake, an imperfection, as though theirs was a lesser existence to that of the Autobots. Though, both The Fallen and the Liege Maximo are said to exist in this continuity, so it still possible for either (or neither) to be this guy.

Could be Dreadwing for all we know (if that's Tony Todd voicing him). ;)

Be warned, there are spoilers to be found here. Thanks to IGN's interview with Robert Orci and other members of the Prime staff we know now that in the future Transformers: Prime will include:

Combiners

Combiners? After some hemming and hawing from the panel, one of the producers said decisively, "We'll have Combiners, don't you worry."

Dinobots

Dinobots? "Those characters are part of our long-term plan,"

And thanks to a video from SDCC we get to see the next big villain of Transformers: Prime, what appears to be Unicron!

Hm ... whatever happened to Combiners in Transformers Prime? Do you think we ended up with Beast Hunters instead of Combiners?

That is a good question.

Two guesses on this:

A) Maybe this was some indirect allusion to Bruticus in FOC, like as a red herring to make us think he meant in the cartoon instead of the game, or as a reference to Hasbro considering the cartoon/games/novels/etc. all one continuity and referring to the game having Bruticus as the show having Bruticus in its world (yes, I know Orci didn't work on the game, but he could have still been aware of its then-upcoming features).

B) Maybe it got discarded with Hasbro's dropping Beast Hunters on the Prime creative team at the eleventh hour forced them to fast-forward, condense, and hastily wrap up all/most of their three-to-four season's worth of story material in just season 2 alone.

Or, maybe C) the info might have been misunderstood to begin with.

Who knows.
