TF Prime - Takara AM-16: Jet Vehicon + Igu Picture review

Hi to all. Here are my views on Transformers Prime: Takara AM-16: Jet Vehicon. Or Jeticon as I like to call them. Big thanks to Andy at Kapow Toys - http://www.kapowtoys.co.uk in the UK! Who once again got these at super fast shipping speed without the current customs hassles.

Image

It's quite long, so the short review is he's the same as the regular car Vehicon but with wings. Buy it! :APPLAUSE: 8) But i'll try and tell you what's different as I can.

2Jet.jpg

The Jet mode is the same length and width as the "Caricon" but with spikes giving it the edge.
It's all black and as it has stickers the only paint is 4 small purple marks on both sides. The Decepticon logo area is raised, it has a nice air intake at the front, redesigned rear and even a little landing skid!

There are 5 Micron ports on both sides and 1 peg and port under the wings. The Caricons weapon fits in ok, it's a shame it only has 1 gun unlike the jet mode in the show.

3Weapon.jpg

To transform you have to unclip the wings and then fold them up. Everything else is the same as the Caricon then. The only flaw is due to a different back piece the rear will not fold down out of sight like the Car version. :-(
The wings are nice and hard and don't drop. Nor are they sharp but no doubt Hasbro would make them kid safe if they did one and ruin it! :BANG_HEAD:

A pic of Robot mode with no stickers on yet. He's not as sleek as the Vehicon as the shoulder, arms and leg panels are all larger to match the Jet design.
Light piping is purple not red. I had a nice Cylon eye by accident earlier. 8)

4Robot.jpg

His main limb colour is a nice almost glossy plum. Not pink! It's a touch lighter than Takara AM Skywarp. The chest has a great metallic paint to it which pics up a shine nicely and makes it closer to the Season One images.
The wings bend right back, all the way to the sides or I prefer to angle them a little.

He can't clip the Car Vehicons gun to his arm but he can hold it as normal. The FE Vehicons weapon makes a nice arm blaster.

Image

He comes with his Arms Micron partner, Igu, which transforms from a robotic iguana into a similar blaster as on the show. I believe it to be longer than the Takara car Vehicon Micron.
Iggy as he is now known actually looks like an Iguana kinda. If the RID is a machine gun then Iggy is the Shotgun or Bazooka version!

Image

He comes in a nice dark gray which looks great with or without labels. Hasbro take note. Iggys labels really make it look like the show colour and show how nice some colour on the RID would be. I traced the grooves with a tooth pick to pick out the details.

Igu can be joined with Breakdown and Megatrons Microns to form a giant axe/hammer like.. thing.

He has 22 stickers, 13 of them for him and the rest for Igu. The stickers go in the same places the Caricon has paint apps. Legs, ankles, waist. So there's not much different there except the Decepticon logo has to go on top and not under his chest glass. He has metallic stripes on his wings, both sides and the nose area.
I recommend lining his ankle labels on the inside first as they are tricky. I rubbed his leg grate ones down with a tooth pick to pick out the details.

Image Image

The rear of the gun extends back. It's a very long gun! With a small amount of bending and tweaking you can kinda make it look like it's coming from his arm.
Iggy makes a big cannon when mounted on the side of the jet too.

All together the Jet Vehicon is a great addition to the line! Really worth getting.
I will post a bunch of comparison pictures below as I have them. 8)

I will say that a USA release of the same mold is 95% unlikely from all sources. It's marked Takara only. Even if it does you are looking at 1 1/2 to 2 years away. So if you want 1 don't wait and then complain later. Get one now before everywhere is sold out 8)

I've added some pics of the Jeticon from the show to compare to the toy also.

Wow, excellent review, thanks :D!

Seeing all of this along with the comparison pics to the RiD car Vehicon has definitely made me confident that it was worth picking this guy up (3 of them) on BBTS.

They're sitting in my PoL now and I can't wait to get them shipped :).

OHHHHHHH conflict. My kidneys want, but liver says no. Sure the kidneys out number liver, but liver is bigger....

I hate mini-cons, I hate stickers, and honestly, that does not look as good as I was hoping.

BUT...It would look so nice next to Vehicon on the "Prime" shelf. Kind of like a new version of the twins Wingspan and Pounce. And I can see it now, Bodies slightly turned to face each other, heads turned forward, guns raised. SOOOOOO Metal.

Some more comparison pictures. If there are any specifics anyone wants let me know and I will see what I can do. 8)

I haven't put the labels on 1 of the Microns. Also Skywarp has had Classic Reprolabels applied to give him a G1 feel.

Great review. Nice see a proper written and pictorial review as opposed to a lazy, talky video review of someone's hands :APPLAUSE:

With the "Caricon" I removed his back panel (via screws) and you're able to pop out the "glass" to apply the sticker to the underneath bit. I don't know if the same process can be used on the "Jeticon" as I haven't received my preorders yet.

Again, great review. Thanks!

Kinda wish he was red instead of purple. That way I could pretend he was Terry McGinnis Batman that transforms to his batmobile/hover car thing.

On a side note, there's a :SUPERMAN: but not a batman?

I really like the alt mode. Very retro sci-fi-ish. IMO. Like a Cylon meets with the 007 submarine car and Knightrider.

I can't wait to get mine! Just checked USPS website and my package (containing Arms Micron Vehicon and Jet Vehicon and a case of the GDO Deluxe Generations figures) is at the local post office awaiting delivery!

I don't mind that the Jet Vehicon is basically the regular Vehicon with wings. In my mind that makes sense as something the Decepticons would do. It's a drone army, so they would need to be economical. Kinda reminds me of the concept of the Junkions, robots that modify themselves with scrap.

But most of all, it's just a wicked design.

Im really looking forward to getting this guy from BBTS and setting him up next to the Caricons Ive already amassed. I have regrets about only ordering one, but really couldnt justify dropping $35 on another one when there are other figures I really wanted like Breakdown, IGear UFO/Hench and FOC G2 Bruticus (which I now have my doubts). I may just display him up front and put the Caricons next to and behind him.

Between Prime and FOC, I need to start looking for another display case.

I opened my Jeticon just a few hours ago, and I LOVE it!

The colors are fantastic!

I swapped his big-ass gun with the FE Vehicon.
I like the pistol with the aerial guy, and the FE looks like a heavy gunner now.

Check out my previous review on Breakdown. I have many comparison pics throughout the threads.

Breakdown is a bulky but short Voyager. He's not like Megatron or Prime but he is scaled for size with them.
