I also have seen toys for the Phoenix they are always oversized & always from Korea.

I think I still got a copy of Clash of the Bionoids somewhere.

Was confused how that and the macross series worked togather. :???:

It was another country's release brought to america I remeber seeing it (owning it as well) BEFORE Robotech hit the airwaves

A lot of stuff about G

G-Gundam was by far the most racist anime I've seen by far.

Actually...

the RX-78 has the festive Gundam colors, which in itself is in every Gundam series (U.C. Timeline)accept Char's Counterattack, becuase the RX-93 was black, white and yellow.

Also the RX-78 is from thew original Gundam series, Mobile Suit Gundam: 0079...and there is zero resenblence between the RX-78 and Optimus Prime.

Prime's colors are from one of the diaclone Convoy sets.

The general shape of the head bear strong resemblance IMO. And although the colors of the body are not distributed the same way at all, they's mostly the same. Blue, red, grey, white and yellow.

Anyway if you were to name the G1 transformer that looks the most like a gundam who would it be?

I just have to answer this, cause I've notice a similarity recently(last year) between the Gaplant and Cybertron Starscream. First of all, bear in mind that the colors are completely off, however the overall shape and part of the transformation is similar. Also bear in mind that the mobile suit I compare it too, the Gaplant from Zeta Gundam, was made around 20 years ago:

If you flipped Starscream's fins up behind his head, the similarity would be moreso.

Image

Image

Like I said, it's not exact, but there's more than a passing resemblence. There are probably others, maybe I'll look into some more.

Picky picky ain't ya :P . I also forgot that "G1" part, but I'll forget it again, I can't resist:

Night Viper and Cobra Gundam! I don't know why, but I find it funny  . I'm gonna have to get Night Viper now.

Image

Image

Onto slightly more serious matters, Arcee and the Nobel Gundam(look at the shape of the bodies, and Arcee's helmet isnt' too far removed from Nobel Gundam's):

Image

Image

There might be more. I'm gonna have to really look at my Transformers and think over Gundam designs.

I still have to say, this is the best Gundam from G Gundam.

All hail the Nether Gundam!

Nah, the reason why Gundam Maxter was like a football player with giant magnums is because it was because of the American sterotype that we are a sports-centric society that loves to shoot things. And the boxing could have been influenced by the Rocky movies:

Image

It wasn't limited to America, like the "Tequila Gundam" from Mexico for example:

Image

Or how Gundam Rose looks like Napolean Bomeparte:

Image

And the Matador Gundam from Spain focused on the Bull Fighter motif:

Image

And Prime's resemblence to the RX-78 is passing at best, in my opinion. They share similar qualities, but remember, both are of Japanese origin.

And there's a whole website that lists a lot of other movies that the company behind "Phoenix King" also did, but I can't seem to find it. It had a whole bunch of really bad ripoffs, like Ninja turtles piloting the Gobot power armors, a KO Overlord with Starsaber head, etc. Anyone got a link?

What about Master Gundam I always thought of Megatron.

:-? Well, there is a slight resemblence between Rid Megs and the Master Gundam:

Image

Image

They both have ears and wings, and while the legs aren't exact replicas, there is a similar theme going on. I'd say they look pretty similar. Good find. 8)

The Raph pic looks like it was from a cheap arse version of Robot Chicken(which totally rules) or something like that.
