ASSUMING this is a blurred image of an actual thing (not a render) I'll add it to my interest list. I doubt Uranus will be the selling name. Wasn't Herc originally called Project DEVA?

Also, I hope he's actually NOT as big as Hercules. Partly because making 5 bot combiner in reasonable scale to each other is way harder. While FP's upgrade sets had to work with what it had, I hope they don't bother remaking Bruticus.

The name: Has more meaning than you thought it did.

The image: Blurred, look at all this discussion! it's no different from HasTak showing a silhouette of an upcoming and/or unfinished figure. The blurred image gives us just enough of an idea of what the figure is going to look like, if it was the full on prototype, we would be waiting ages for the actual figures, some would lose interest, others would rage about how long its taking for them to release the figures.

The scale: We can only speculate. I don't think it would be good business to create their figures in scale with FP Bruticus, allowing one company to establish a scale long before you undergo projects similar in nature is not a good idea, especially if they plan on making a Bruticus of their own. If Hercules, Uranus, and FP Bruticus were all the same size and TFC made a Bruticus (which they would call Mars, hopefully) of their own would you buy it? You would at least get a preorder on BBTS. but would you pay for it? All future dealings with TFC and BBTS would become rocky because BBTS wouldn't have been able to sell a lot of them at retail.

OFF TOPIC DON'T READ THIS:
My Sig:
Created in jest mostly. If Ryan has a problem with it I will gladly take it down and replace it with a quote from Counterpunch (Podcaster Extraordinaire). Why did I choose a pic of FP Bruticus? Because when that gallery was published the discussion on the forum was lengthy, to date, nearly 67.5 THOUSAND view on the article and 11 pages of comments. How many comments are there on Botshots and Prime figures? If you think it would fit better I could use the BTS Sonicron gallery in my sig, it fits your criteria because it is a self contained figure and it is gloriously exposed in gallery form. Or maybe I could use the video review of it (which I enjoined, Ryan i think you should do more of those, but I know how busy you already are with the galleries). And honestly guys, do you think a Soundwave fan as enthusiastic as Ryan is will really let BTS Sonicron be his last 3rd party Soundwave? Do you really think he is going to pass on:
Image
Maybe if the rumors are true and a Superior MP Soundwave is announced we all will.
But hey, I'm just ...[insert legal mumbo jumbo, jargon here] here.

dude, they are developing interest, don't click on a link that says BLURRED IMAGE IN THE DAMNED TITLE AND THEN COMPLAIN ABOUT IT. Such a jagoff thing to do...

I stand with Kibble on this. They'd get far more interest generated if we could actually see something.

Agreed. Teasers ore retarded. It's like going to a strip club where the strippers dont strip. Just show me the goods and come get this money !!!

I don't see the big problem with the blurred images etc. I mean, of course we want to see actual clear prototype pics, but then people would complain that it's 'unfinished' or 'unpainted' etc.

This type of teaser advertising IS used all the time. I've seen car commercials where they preview a new car/model and don't show the car or just show a sillouette, I've seen movie trailers that don't show any footage from the movie, just dramatic music and (sometimes) a title.

This type of advertising is used all the time and generally they drop in just enough hints for you to know what the product is without giving away any real details on it, and that's exactly what these teasers we get from the third party vendors do. They give us just enough detail to know what the product is (TFC's take on Superion) without giving us any real details on their specific product.

It works, it creates buzz (3 pages of comments so far ;)) and it gives us a heads-up on what's coming in the future, which is especially useful for those who are interested but will need to save up the funds to get it.

I bet if the buttholes showed a clear pic, there would be more than 3 pages of comments, and most of them would be based on the fig itself instead of how lame blurry pics are or who is and isn't a jagoff... Plus they've already teased the project...so now show us something or shut up and work on the damn thing. And I disagree people would complain about being shown a prototype that actually shows something.

If they are still in the preliminary design phase, then showing any proto pics would be a very bad idea, and is I suspect the reason that they do these teasers.

If, for example, they showed a clear proto pic, but then decided to change the design, people who saw the initial image would be pissed off that they went and changed it at what they perceive as being the 'last minute' (even though the fact is that it's probably pretty early in the dev phase that they start showing us these teasers).

These types of teasers and promos avoid that while still generating more product awareness and buzz within their potential/target customer base (namely us).

Yes it sucks to not see a complete proto or even the final figure in these early stages, but at the same time, it's marketing for their product. They can't do TV ads, so this is their only option so they need to get started much earlier to reach as many potential customers as possible in order to ensure that they'll have a significant market demand for their product once it finally is released.

In that case I go back to the stance of 'shut up and work on the damn thing' then... Like I said, it has already been teased, people are aware of their intent to put it out. If they want to show us WIP pics, great, then show them. If they don't, then don't. But the in between **** is just annoying.

I know you said "most people", but just for the record I wasn't. I'm kind of picky when it comes to the Aerialbots.

, I hear ya. But I'm sure that the individuals that handle marketing aren't the same ones working on the actual prototypes/molds etc. Even as a third party company, I'm certain they have some of this stuff compartmentalized (I hope I spelled that right :P).

Since they used the Roman spelling for Herc, I felt Mars fit best because it fits Roman them with Herc and planetary with Uranus!

Ah, yes. Good point. Annoying how the Roman spelling has overpowered the original. It does sound better though. Mars is a more popular name I guess. I just wouldn't want to think of chocolate and caramel everytime I saw the figure.

If they're all brand-new Aerialbots, I'd like them to come with a base that is reminiscent of the time-platform that Megatron, Starscream, et al used to send them into the early days of the Autobot/Decepticon war.

Also. Megatron had a flippin' time platform. And he used it to eliminate 5 Autobots from the present day. If he'd just put a little bit of thought into it, we'd all have grown up learning to love our new robot overlords. :CON:

Yes they do :)! At first glance I could have sworn the one on the right was just a Classics Starscream until I looked more closely. Very impressive.

I'm not a huge Superion fan, but I suspect TFC is going to get my money with this project.

Hmm ... it'd be nice if these figures came down in price. If I do get 'em, I've learned from my experience with Herc. No preorders for me. I'm going to wait until they all come out and save some money.

It seems that my shelves will be going with TFC Combiners from now on...

If they can push out a combiner a year, then I'll have them all by the time I'm 50.

Dammit they look good. Very good. I appreciate the addition of realistic missiles and such to.

I know I've said it before but I'm going to say it again: why did they have to use the original aircraft models?
