TFCC Beast Wars: Uprising

Earlier today, the Transformers Collectors' Club tweeted several images from the fifty-fifth issue of the Club Magazine, featuring alternate Beast Wars-era characters in new bodies. As many of you will recognize, they all use toy designs lifted from Beast Hunters, Universe (2008), Generations, and Prime.

The characters featured are as follow:

* Rattrap from Prime Rumble
* Botanica from Beast Hunters Soundwave
* Jawbreaker from Beast Hunters Ratchet
* Geckobot from Beast Hunters Wheeljack
* Torca from Universe (2008) Onslaught
* Dynobot (Beast Wars Dinobot) from Generations Springer

Also featured is Transmutate, who will appear alongside Protoform X/Rampage as a TFCC exclusive this year.

But wait, there's more! The Club also made a couple of interesting tweets. The first one states that they used these designs in case they wanted to make toys out of them, and the second says that if the positive feedback keeps coming, then some might even make it to toy-hood in the near future (perhaps as future TFSS exclusives?).

We did use existing molds just on the chance of "maybe"...

So. If we do see some serious demand for these guys, maybe one or two (or more) will show up next year. #geckobot #really #youallsure ???

Will these characters end up as toys? If so, will Botanica finally get her own toy fifteen years after her debut in Beast Machines? Speculate away in the Energon Pub!

I've been wanting someone to stick the Dead End head on the BH Wheeljack body and go loco with the colours for a while now, so hell yeah I'd be down for this. I gave up on Beast Machines before Botannica appeared but that looks like a pretty cool toy.

Dynobot is Generations Voyager Springer. We see him in the story with this body:

Also, Jawbreaker and Botanica:

And, ladies and gentleman, welcome to Primax 209.0 Gamma; the still-unnamed alternate Beast Wars universe that the Club has been teasing since 2009 with this bio:

And is also the home to last year's TCC Depth Charge figure, as well as this year's Rampage and Trans-Mutate figures.

Depth Charge's bio:
Depth Charge's tracking skills are legendary. As defender, pursuer, and, if need be, judge, Depth Charge acts swiftly and with unquestioning resolve. So when the Autobot elders needed the murderous Protoform X captured and returned to them, Depth Charge was their first and only choice. It took the Maximal nearly nine stellar cycle and twelve doomed colleagues to hunt down the monster, but ultimately he succeeded and ended the massacre.

When he brought the shackled beast before the elders, he learned of his new task; two Maximals, Blackarachnia and Nightscream, and two Predacons, Immorticon and Scavenger, had participated in a rebellion that had left a Maximal commander offline and a distrust amongst the Maximal army ranks. The had stolen an experimental transwarp generator as a means of fleeing from authorities, and triggered the device in the outskirts of Cybertropolis. Retracing their steps with his own transwarp device, Depth Charge discovered their escape route was perhaps not of their own choosing - the experimental generator had malfunctioned, tearing a hole in the fabric of reality. Unable to relinquish his hunt, Depth Charge sabotaged his own transwarp device so that it would suffer a similar failure. Soon he too disappeared in to another reality.

When his optics rebooted, he found himself in a bustling world filled with strange faces. He had little idea of what this "Axiom Nexus" place was or how he had gotten there, but such questions were unimportant to him. He still had a trail to follow, which eventually led him to doors of a strange individual named Alpha Trion. The Autobot informed Depth Charge of how he encountered the four fugitives and had taken him into his home. He explained that once inside, they turned on him and threatened his life. He continued the explanation saying that his assistant - Topspin - was forced to intervene and use his unusual ability to extract and extinguish the fugitives' sparks. Depth Charge was unsure of the story he had just been told and and pressed Alpha Trion further, until Topspin showed him the four sparkless bodies. There was something about that Autobot that Depth Charge still didn't trust, but visage of the bodies appeared to be conclusive; his hunt was over.

Now unable to collect on the bounty or return home, the Maximal bounty hunter was trapped in a universe that was not his own. He took He took to prowling the streets of the "Low Tech" underworld, always searching for his next bounty. That is, until the Transtech came to call on him.

Springer as Rodimus...
Springer as Drift...
Springer as Dynobot...

Damn, that mold works or everything!

I like all of the mold selections here except for Botanica - Prime/BH Soundwave's legs just kill me. I would probably find it acceptable if the head sculpt changes.

Also, G2 Redux Clench repaint into Torca? TOTAL WIN!!!

She does have her own head in the comic. The figure I posted is merely fan-painted custom.

So the club is repurposing fan pieces and custom figures, as their own, at least in the comics.

Well, the Jawbreaker and Botanica customs came as a result of the comic. Dynobot is the only preexisting one of these customs.

I figured it was fan painted and/or digi-bashed. My issue arrive yesterday, and I was wondering whether TFCC would spring for the new head. Presumably so, since they seem to have purposely left most of the other heads the same.

Rattrap and Botanica have new heads. Geckobot's head is PRID Dead End's head, and Dynobot's Springer head has had its fin shaved down.

Good gods, if that Dynobot became available through the club, I would buy it in a heartbeat. Amazing figure.

It seems that author Jesse Wittenrich used this custom of Jawbreaker (different from the other one I posted before) as the inspiration for the Jawbreaker seen in this year's magazine comic storyline:

They are both EXTREMELY similar though. All the visible paint apps seem to be in the same location. Just the type of paint is different. Flat Matte vs Metallic.

I can't believe we're getting Pirates vs Knights as our theme for the 30th Anniversary instead of this Beast Wars related set. Remember Beast Wars? That little show that saved the franchise back in the late 90's.

if they do make toys of them i hope they are retail & not convention or club exclusives, throw them in the generations line & i guarantee they will sell. Well that is if anyone can find them, i still cant find any generations deluxes or even those commander/scout class ones. But if these were to see the light of day as retail figures id buy them, as long as the prices werent ridiculously high.

True. I'm guessing Cheetimus liked the matte-painted one enough to make his own shiny-painted one.

Just keep this universe's Cybertron's core inorganic, and I'll give this all the positive feedback it takes to get these made, no matter how many of these designs lean further towards -Machines that -Wars.

Actually, no matter what the rules are in this universe, these guys are the next best thing to a continuation of the "Dawn of Future's Past" toys, so I'll even buy the ones of characters I passed on 14+ years ago. Now bring on Beast-Hunters-Bulkhead-Bonecrusher! Unless he'd make a better Noctorro...

Unless this universe's Blackarachnia is a Triplechanger, then I doubt we'd see a redeco of Airachnid. Besides, the deco is too close to one another to warrant a redeco.

To be brutally honest, that isn't Blackarachnia's body from this universe. We don't know what she (or Nightscream, or Scavenger, or Immorticon) looked like in this home dimension of theirs.

The body pictured in that bio is actually the body of TransTech Blackarachnia, whose body the Blackarachnia of this universe had her spark put into after she crossed over into Axiom Nexus and teamed up with SG Alpha Trion. So in the story, the TransTech bodies of Blackarachnia, Nightscream, Scavenger, and Immorticon were all stolen and inhabited by the Blackarachnia, Nightscream, Scavenger, and Immorticon of this alternate Beast universe.

As for the real sparks of the their TransTech counterparts, who inhabited those TransTech bodies before the were stolen from them, their fate isn't fully known, but it is most likely that either Alpha Trion killed those sparks or simply kept them in storage with a bunch of other sparks that he had also had removed by his assistant, TCC Topspin (the 2008 Nexus Prime component).
