TFMaster's Artwork

Postby Superquad7 » Sun Mar 11, 2007 8:32 pm

Hey guys, I just thought I'd start a thread for everyone to talk about one of the things TFM really loved - his work! Share your favorite work(s) of his and why you like the particular piece(s).

Ready, set, GO!

I'll start this discussion by saying that I used to joke around with TFM quite frequenlty about how he should send me his Alt Menasor. I don't know if this is his "best" work or not (quite arguably it could be), but I think it was my favorite of his. I really find it hard to just pick one, but I just thought I'd also share one of the inside jokes I had with him.

On an "WAY TOO COOL" level, his PM MP Optimus Prime and WW Megatron are just mouth-dropping.

I was actually in the process of trying to work out a way for him to make me an Alt Cosmos like his custom. I had lost the auction that Hal Z. had for the one TFM made him (with 1 second to go mind you). I really wished I would have had more money to put on it, but things were [are} tight financially. I really didn't plan on making many more Autobots myself, but I think I'll add this to my list of "to make" customs to pay tribute to his work.

He has also inspired me to make an Alt Bludgeon. That's been in the works for some time now on the conceptual level at least. Again, another tribute to the man and his work.

I'd have to say Emperor Starscream. It was my first ever digibash, and he went and did a real repaint of it. When I first told him of the idea, he said he couldn't see it, but I should do it anyway. Then after I did it, he couldn't believe I had successfully pulled it off. Then he not only makes a real one, but he makes it for Botcon!

That was just so awesome.

It's too bad that someone here who lives close enough to him couldn't complete some of his unfinished pieces as a tribute to him.

This has to be my fave:

Image

When I last saw him (2-3 weeks ago) he actually let me hold it in my hands!! UNSUPERVISED!! This Megs is a work of art!!

And of course, I loved all his Custom Alts.... :D
I just wish there were pics of all of the Alts he did. I've looked for some, but can't find them. :(

The Alt Arcee he made I thought was flawless :!:

. . . and there is the Cosmos I so wanted that I got sniped on ebay from. *ARGH* I SO wished I had actually been able to put more money on the auction, but I was crunched when I was bidding. Did someone on this board buy that? I'm still interested in it I know!

But yeah, thanks for digging for photos that may not be in the galleries and such. Much appreciated!

It's always nice to find pieces of obsurity :P

Could you find the pics of that Emperor Starscream? He never got around to making a gallery for it, but there are some pics from Botcon of it. I believe it was the last one right before the whole OTFCC thing.

Yes, it was. Hal posted some auctions on ebay of his collection to pay some bills off. The Cosmos was one such auction. :(

I was lucky enough to trade him for his energon sweep. Prize of my collection. He broke in half on the first transformation so I had to upgrade him with a couple dreadwing parts. I guess when TFM took him apart to dye the pieces it made a weak point.

So what pieces of his work to others have?

i had the pleasure to do a interview with him in the past thought would add this to the topic as a homage to himself

Well to start the new year i thought a Spotlight on Kitbashers First off we start with one of the people that got me started on klit bashing the ma Himself TFmaster.

As Most people know this man was one of the people which started in the days of unicorn.com over 10 years ago. With the years passing so did hes range of ideas.

TFmaster was one of the people which started with the site Transtopia Helping people to move forward on the ideas and styles with helped people move on to ideas of new homages and with many kit bashes under hes belt whether that be the mp power master prime to the stormbringer styles.

for exmaple heres one of hes pieces

many further repaints have been done on this subect whether that be from the pvc versions to the armada / Energon versions which got the over haul to make the homage to the movie due to the fact that the only other movie versions i can think of are the pvc versions statue and tit range 3 inch version with the moving arms

Even the use of gundam parts seen here

Tfmaster knows some of the things that make a kit basher unique in the fact that every kitbash is a stepping stone in making something as a homage to that figure to always remember and never forget.

I asked Tfmaster what got him started on Kitbashing and he answered my questions with ease. He said when he started before in the past he first looked on sites such as unicorn.com in the altered areas and saw the progess that others had made and that the first thing he did was a repaint with glow in the dark paint.

Over the ten years of Kit bashing he away is happy to know that overs will give a new Outlook to aiding others in making that homages/ Repaint more unique in the overall end product whether that be from the aid of Minds such as Lobo saying How to Remove Pins from Alternators to the 1000's of Styles Which people Now USe as a guide in Making them understand the Constuction and what they must do.

Tfmaster has been heading many of the conventions whether that be at Bot Con to others and i must say is one of the people which i am proud to say can ask for help and never find it hard to get a reply. Such as Myself the things importaant to him have changed but not in a great way instead giving him more the knowledge that the fans and family are the main thing which help you prgoess.

Its a said day in a way to Know that Transtopia will be leaving its unique spot but then this will be merged with Seibertron Hopefully as all wish the site will do justice for the members in the kit bashing World. Its maybe the loss of One site but a Union of 2 instead.

I would Like to Thank Tfmaster for Hepling me Get forward in Kitbashing and giving me that push that i needed when i started to think i Can Do this.

Also just the other day TFM's Birthday so as We say 1 year old and 1 year wiser.

Well thats Enough of Me Rabbiting On On the Subject heres Some More of Hes Work

And More

^ thanks for posting all those pics.

It's really a shame that so many of TFM's amazing pieces of work never gotten a (proper) gallery.

As soon a sgalleries are possible again a subsection should be made collecting alle these random pics still floating around. Not so much as some kind of shrine, but more as a testiment to what one can accomplish and to what level we should all aspire to grow. (And also to proove, that no matter how far fetching an idea might be, with the proper execution it can be a great piece of art.)

(I don't think I'd be able to pick one that would be my absolute favorite. There are so many that so incredibly amazing. Ideas I never would've thought of and would be complety unable to copy.)

(I do really love that alt Cosmos and the MP WW Megatron.)

He loved those Mustangs, didn't he?

I think I'm biased toward Alt Breakdown (gotta love that damage work), Thunderwing (pity we never got to see that finished) and MP Menasor.
And the Energon Magnus job which is helping me immensely with one of my own projects...

I agree with Rawhide; we should definitely find somewhere to stash these photos, and any others we can find, for posterity...
