With all the news posts and images we see every week at Seibertron.com, "Wow, I've gotta have this!" posts are very common but is there anything you just had to have and then never ended up buying? I'm mainly talking about things that were fairly widely available that you initially got excited about and then for whatever reason you ended up souring on them and never taking the plunge.

For me, there are a couple. I was a big fan of the Skullgrin character in the Marvel comics and when I first saw the pics at BotCon 2010, he definitely fell into the future purchase category for me. Then, a funny thing happened. I picked up Darkmount/Straxxus first and by the time Skullgrin hit the shelves, I just couldn't see that mold working for anything other than Straxxus.

Another example would be E-Hobby Sunstorm. Sunstorm is a favorite character of mine and at one point I actually bid over $200 for the first E-Hobby release of him on Ebay but lost. Fast forward a couple of years and they re-released the figure for $60-$70. I have yet to get it and I have absolutely no idea why.

Anyone have any similar experiences?

G1 Optimus - bid on it on ebay and lost, my interest kind of faded after that. Probably because I realized I'd have to kill my budget to get him

ROTF Leader Optimus- believe it or not I actually saw this figure in Walmart yesterday. No jokes or lies. He was on the shelf with the DOTM stuff. I was stunned. Rang up regular price though and I decided to leave it behind. I know he's a kick butt figure and all, but at this point I have a Leader and Ultimate version already. I don't really need another, even if the ROTF one is supposed to be the best (really wanted him before I bought my 1st leader though. Lol). Had he been $25 or $30 I would have been rather tempted, but at normal retail I simply don't have enough interest to care anymore (especially since it means dipping into my PS3 fund at the moment).

Japanese Botcon Double Punch - the Red repaint of Beast Wars Scorponok.

I've had to chances to get it over the years. Once was in a hobby store for about 70 bucks, but I had already gone over budget that month and passed. When the next month rolled around, someone else had picked him up.

The next time was at Botcon 2010 and I saw him for 125ish I think. I passed then too because I had other figures on my list that year. By the time I had second-guessed myself into getting it, again someone else had gotten it.

I haven't seen him since. And now he's the last figure I need for my Beast Wars collection.

RAAAAGGGGGEEEEE!

I'm actually pretty damn satisfied when it comes to collecting. There are the insane grails I'll probably never own (VICTORY SABER), but I've actually been able to pick up everything I wanted really bad so far, because I'm pretty picky, do a lot of research, and am patient enough to wait for deals because I hate overspending on things. I guess right now, I still want MP-10 but I don't see it happening anytime soon. I also missed the boat on Encore Bruticus, but you never know, it could happen...

G1 Predaking
I Almost bought him with my Birthday and Christmas money one year. He was pretty pricey, but I had enough. Thing was, there were quite a few f current figures I wanted more. Also, I had no idea Predaking was SO BIG! I Recently found out how gigantic this guy really is. I thought he was gonna be G1 Devy sized, so I didn't pull the trigger.

The only must buys that I didn't are the ones hasbro screwed us out of. The classic/universe legends figures, Windcharger, and of course the Prime FE figures.

Wish I had Movie Leader Brawl.

Further down the list, I'd like RotF leader Jetfire and RotF deluxe Jolt.

Muuuch further down the list... DotM Mudflap and Skids (at least the small DotM scale works with these two).

Voyager Class Optimus Prime. And good luck getting it with both guns for a reasonable price.

Also, RotF Leader Prime. Same as above.
