That TF mold you love so much, but "everybody" hates it.

You know, that Transformers mold that critics and fans alike hate, but you just LOVE it for some reasons? share it with us.
Bonus points if said mold got multiple repaints.

For me, it's the 2007 movie voyager Starscream mold. I just LOVE it. It's funny looking in bot mode and jet mode, for sure. It's not movie accurate at all. When you transform it, the missiles tend to fly off everywhere.

Still, I just love it. I love how it look, I find it fun to transform even with the missile issue, and that auto-morphing chest is just engeneering genius.

I have the original, of course.

Then, the G1 repaint with that freakishly awesome new head.

What more, it's a great custom base! I made Apetimus Supreme myself with Xover Hulk and other parts for a triple changing abobination:

I bought a junker 2007 TK so another custom like this is about to happen.

Also, I just bought that premium version, brand new off Ebay for a reasonable price. Check out that amazing deco! I'm looking forward to receive it!

So, what is that mold you love but "everybody" hates?

Ill be the first to say it, PRiD Airachnid. Yep, love it for the joy it gives my daughter.

My daughter loves Blackarachnia and was so excited to see Airachnid pop up on Prime that I made up a story that it might be Blackarachnias sister.

My daughter always sees Airachnid and says "shes not ready to play with the Autobots yet" or "shes not ready to be their friend" because of how Blackarachnia switched sides and she sees that Airachnid aint going that way so far. Weve only watched up to S02E12 or so. ;)

I don't love Airachnid's toy, but I don't hate it as much as others. It's decent enough.

That I can think of right now off the top of my head - PRID Ratchet. I remember people griping to high hell about him when he first came out, so I was a little weary of buying him. Glad I caved in and did! He is, without a doubt, my favorite PRID figure (Breakdown is in a very close second).

Even though Ratchet is missing a crud load of paint apps, I absolutely love how his robot mode looks. It's simple, yet oddly appealing. Vehicle mode is bland as all get out, I will agree, but I never keep him in that form and he was $10 or $12 toy, so I don't care because I love his robot mode so much.

He's also extremely posable, which I value pretty highly in modern Transformers toys. It's not something I expect for the vintage guys, but in this day and age there really is no reason for new figures to lack proper joint work (with obvious exceptions of re-releases and what not).

FoC Optimus (and as a result, Ultra Magnus) is another. Optimus was my favorite of the 1st wave, but now ties with Magnus.... they're actually the only FoC figures I own that I thought were worth their price point. Starscream is close to being in that category but I have enough gripes with him to make me feel he should have been $10, not the $15+shipping I spent.

Being small and light weight are kind of the only bad things I have to say about OP and UM. Otherwise I enjoy how they're painted, their body & head sculpting is pretty awesome for what they are and, as mentioned with Ratchet, they're extremely posable. I had way more fun playing with them than I did Starscream, Shockwave or (ugh) Jazz.

ROTF Fallen
Why everyone rags on him is beyond me. He's huge for a voyager, something we'll never see again, he's WAY articulated, and has alot of detail.

Yes, he transforms into a flying christmas tree, but you could always, you know, NOT transform him, right?

For what it's worth, I'm pretty sure most people think pretty highly of PRiD Ratchet.

For me, it'd be Nitro Bumblebee. I've ranted on it before I'm sure, so I'll just say that I -like- that it's different. The nice molded details and paint apps are great, and I'm even pretty fond of his weapon; it reminds me of G2's Axelerators. It's a shame they didn't actually incorporate it into the altmode like they could have, but all in all I like it a lot. Both modes are pretty good, and he's intuitive and fun to transform.

Now you make me want to hunt down a Fallen to use as a Xmass ornament!

you read my mind.
for me it has got to be the first movie payload. sure the gimmick is stupid but he has got a really good range of motion and i love his alt mode. he has awesome joints, an ok gimmick and im a sucker for cyclops bots

Classics DELUXE Optimus: I don't know why so many people hate it. I refuse to buy the Voyager Prime... I like the deluxe a whole lot more. [-( (Own both the SDCC and United Nemesis for the Voyager mold though, just does not fit red Prime).

Universe Galvatron. I can overlook all the flaws of the toy, I still like him.

Movie 1 Barricade: I like him, only bought the DOTM one to display with my DOTM figures, while the other sits with movie 1.

PRiD Knockout. Great toy all around, and accurate enough to the show to appease me (after some much needed paint work of course :P).

AM Airachnid (NOT PRiD). Once you get the copter blades from a second copy of the toy and plug one of each into her extra 'cancer tumors' as some like to call them (Arms Micron ports) and transform her legs/rear section correctly, she looks pretty awesome in her 'spider' mode.

PRiD Weaponizer Bumblebee. He's so show-accurate it's scary. They did an excellent job with this figure, even if he does feel pretty light and hollow for a toy his size (my shelf doesn't care how hollow he is, he still looks great on it).

I only collect the movie toys (for now), so...

RotF leader Megatron. I understand the frustration over his gimp arm and his enormous arm with no articulation, but he's huge, kibble free, and a beautifully sculpted and faithful rendition of the cgi model (except maybe the head).

and

DotM voyager Ironhide. I have no idea when so many people complain about him and prefer the leader and original voyager molds over this one. He's virtually kibble free and the most poseable, most faithful mold of his cgi model (especially when you buckle his knees up to make him stockier). I guess people complain about his shoulders not being very secure or something? I don't care. Every new TF I've bought since I started as an adult collector in '08 has that problem, Generations/RTS included. Doesn't matter to me. I don't play with them, I just pose them on my shelves and transform them once in a blue moon for the hell of it. So, anyways, DotM voyager Ironhide was the toy I wished we had the first time around.

Oh, and when I was a kid I love Rodimus Prime's toy. Still do. Not much of a transformation and was only articulated at the shoulders, but I loved his clean look that was closer to his look in the 'toon than most figures then.

I'm not sure if anyone's hated this mold per se, but I've never heard anyone compliment it: Timelines Shattered Glass Treadshot.

I was not expecting to like this figure AT ALL, and figured it'd share the fate of Gigatron and Metalhawk and be sold off once I got my Iacon package. Once I took it out and transformed it, and played with it a little... I knew I had something good. He's a bit too tall to battle his in-fiction rival Ultra Magnus, but I really liked the figure, and he now leads a squad of Shattered Glass Decepticons on my shelf.

I forgot to mention FoC Jazz (Hasbro version). I dig his car mode a LOT, though I must admit that I'm still going to get Takara's version (already in my PoL on BBTS) which I'm sure will please me even more.

@Dean ML: I'm totally with you on RotF Leader Megs. I really dig him, especially in vehicle mode. It's one of the nastiest looking, most imposing/evil looking alt modes I've ever seen and all the molding detail really looks awesome.

Yes! Vehicle mode's incredible, even if it does just look like a folded up Megatron - that's how it looked in the movie, head between his treads and all.

Not so much of a "Something I love that everyone else hates", so much as "Everyone else hates everything that's not entirely 'Geewun' about them": The Classics Voyager Prime and Megs Molds. Not to dis grassroots, but G1 OP and Megs are a couple of the most bland and generic chunks of robots I've known, and the kibble on the Classics voyagers strikes me just right to make them stand out alot better.

Hey, me too! I LOVE this sucker! He's my favorite Prime Bee. He's just perfect looking in bot mode and his car mode is good enough. Plus, his transformation is intuitive and fun.
Sure, the scale is wrong (he's a giant, duh) and there's faux-parts everywhere, but he's so much fun that I can forgive his flaws.
The only thing I REALLY dont like is what Takara did with the very expensive premium version. That paint job is just retarded.

One more figure I just LOVE and I'm yet to read a single positive comment about him is FOC Ravage. Why you guys hate it so much? Is it because he look hollow? It's a disk that change into a friggin robo-panther and it dont have obvious half-circle parts like the other FOC minions. So cut him some slack! He's my favorite minion so far.

His truck mode is garbage, but his robot mode is friggin sweet, one of the best looking robot mode OP's around.

As for a pick of my own, Energon Slugslinger. I remember this figure getting a lot of grief on the board I was on back in the day, but when I got my hands on it and played around with it a bit, it just sort of "clicked" with me what the designers were doing with him.

For me, Universe 2.0 Tankor/Octane. Seriously, I do not get some of the complaints for this guy. Hell, I've seen it claimed he has no neck joint. *Looks to his own toy* Ah, he HAS a neck joint!

G1 Rodimus Prime: Needs a dictionary to understand what articulation is, but he's one of my favorite toys, which also goes for Prime Airachnid.

I have good taste so I only like the good figures! That said, I do have the Skywarp repaint of the Starscream figure in the OP and he's decent enough.

I really like the Classics Mirage, to the point I used a second copy as a base for a Devcon mod (it's more appropriate than you might think). But for the longest time, the torso proportions were slammed and snarled at by the general populace in here.

I'm looking at the ROTF Legends Sideways, the one recently used for DOTM 'definitely not Mirage'. Nobody seems to like it but I think it's cool. Awesome vehicle mode, strange but cool robot mode. I own all three versions of this mold and I think it looks great in all three colour schemes. Each to their own I suppose.

Yup I too thought he was s**t and at the time I thought that his part that covers the tank in truck mode and opens up looking like a giant rake and was attached to his arm. When I found out that it doesn't have to be held like a giant rake I had to get the Henkei version. He looks awesome sporting his 2 chrome pistolas. ;)^ :VEHI:
