The 2014 NASCAR thread.

This is to any other (few and far between, IIRC) NASCAR fans on the boards. I figured since the Daytona 500 is (hopefully) tomorrow, we can have a chat about all things NASCAR this year.

On the surface, the new Chase rules are kinda stupid. But I want to see how it works in practice, so we'll see. I also don't care much for the COT (or have they come up with something new again?) and wish they went back to the cars they had in 2007 and before.

I can't wait to watch racing again, and hopefully Kyle Busch will have a hell of a year beginning with his 1st 500 win and finally his 1st championship.

I'll watch the 500 since the Gen 6 cars seem to actually be able to make passes this year with the spoiler change, but the rest of the season will probably be another Johnson sweep. And the Nationwide Series will be dominated by the same two cars driven by Cup veterans all year and we'll have another winless champion.

And the Cup point system is a total joke. They say it emphasizes winning, but under its rules, Dale Earnhardt Jr would have actually won last year's championship without a win, and Matt Kenseth, who had the most wins, wouldn't have even been eligible for the championship in the final race. What a load of baloney.

At least I got a nap during the rain delay. I like night racing better anyway.

They're aiming at 8:30 for the start of the race now. Hopefully that holds up. I just hope we don't get any long cautions or red flags.

Talladega is about to go green. Probably my favorite track. Let the carnage ensue.
