Excessive robot kibble on planes. I love the CHUG and MP seekers; but a LOT of other plane-themed TFs are plagued with the "Bot wears his alt-mode as a backpack" syndrome, (I'm looking at you, Generations Silverbolt)otherwise known as "hey, there's bot pieces hanging below the plane" (The abomination that is Bayverse Starscream- y'know, 'cause all real world planes have mechanical chicken feet sticking out of the rear of the plane) :BOOM:
...back in my day, you had one alt-mode. ONE! Articulation? why, if you had enough articulation to transform, you had plenty. And if you wanted more articulation, you know what you did about it? NOTHING. You transformed, stood there with your faceplate closed, and your optics sharp, just like everybody else who didn't have ball-jointed this, and swivel-jointed that. And when your were told to, you transformed and rolled out! ...And another thing...

plane kibble on the bot doesnt bug me cause its usually cool things like wings and thrusters. what bugs me is the opposite. when in plane mode theres a whole robot underneath it (which that silverbolt also suffers from).

The characterization of Optimus Prime in the bay movies pisses me off to no end. Optimus is a warrior yeah, but he's always looking for a way out of the war, looking for chances to offer peace. Movieverse prime is like a whriling dervish of decapitation and gunfire. I never even saw Megatron be that brutal in combat in the movies. The one thing is that he ripped Jazz in half, which I don't remember Prime doing to anyone. Also when a beaten, injured Megatron asks him for peace after Prime incapacitated Sentinel, what does Optimus "Freedom is the right of all sentient beings" Prime do? Tear his head off and toss it aside. Not only is that anticlimactic as hell, its also something utterly Unprimelike.

Found a new one for me, brittle plastic. My transmetals Megatron is the main culprit, bit of the hinge his shoulder pads/dinosaur chest lie on snapped while transforming him.

ill agree that movie prime isnt our classic prime. but the basics are still there. and i feel you can forgive most things done in the heat of battle. unless he's bathing in their blood and dancing around with their intestines (or what passes for that on cybertronians) then to me, he just seems badass.

Megatron did NOT ask for peace. He asked "to be back in charge." When have you known peace when Megatron was "in charge?" I agree that it was anti-climactic and too fast, but killing Megatron (or, attempting, as it turns out in AoE) was the right thing to do.

I must've missed something. I thought Megs asked to take his remaining Decepticons back to build Cybertron, though if he really did ask to be in charge of what remained of the planet I can see that course of action being a little more sensible...Bay Prime is still a bloodthirsty murderer but at least he makes sensible choices

He just said that he wanted to be back in charge. He didn't specify of what, so it just make sense that he wanted command of the Decepticons back after Sentinel assumed command due to their alliance.

Stop trying to apply logic to the movieverse. It just won't work.

My pet hate is the walking hippy Beachcomber. I genuinely hoped we'd see him die at some point but I've just got to satisfy myself by assuming he ended up throttled to death by Reflector.

These days, I'm cool with pretty much the full spectrum of Transformers (toys, fiction, etc). But when I was young, I freaking HATED Daniel. Any time he was on screen, my little kid brain was like "Urgh! Get this twerp out of the way!"

In all the years of children's entertainment, nobody has figured it out yet. Kids don't want to watch shows about other kids. TV shows LOVE to have the child character that kids can relate to and it NEVER works that way. Kids want to watch characters that they can *aspire* to *become*.

Just kidding.I didn't like him to much either but I thought Spike was pretty cool in the 86 movie.

i know right?

i mean, i get it, its a kids cartoon. but he didnt start out that stupid. and after seeing grimlock depicted everywhere else (im mostly thinking of comics) hes usually a warlord or military strategist, making him brilliant in his own way. but in season 3 they might as well have put him in a clown costume and had him slip on banana peels. erg...

Ha, I actually LOVE classics Galvatron. Both modes look phenominal and the sculpt in the robot mode is great. He is tough to transform but I like the challenge, and in the end everything fits into one another quite tightly, giving us a really nice tank. And his size works well for scaling with Cyclonus which is deemed one of the best classics figures ever.

Now, onto my bane of existence: Backpacks!

I HATE useless backpacks, especially those which limit the articulation of the figure and change the look of the toy by making him have a huge bump on his back. It's a hard thing to get around sometimes so I understand having some panels brought to the back and that could sometimes work to great effect, giving a character more needed bulk. But just having this obstrusive box behind a toy can really ruin a figure for me, taking away the sleek factor I like so much in some of these toys. It's also very lazy, usually lessens the complexity of transformation and lessens the cartoon accuracy. RID Prime ultra magnus, First edition vehicon and the 2 leader AOE Optimus molds are some of the biggest offenders (below are those very toys with comparison pics to other versions of the character done right in toy form)

I also greatly dislike the ROTF and DOTM movies, especially any Sam Witwicky shenanigan and how they make Leonard Nemoy utter the Star Trek line (and I am not even that big a Star Trek fan)

Let's see:

* People who won't except a character's personality or arc just because it's different from a completely unrelated medium of storytelling. AKA Geewunners.
* Speaking of G1, that entire series is an atrocity.
* You can't take many Predacon deaths seriously in Beast Wars thanks to the overuse of slapstick.
* The Age of Extinction Toyline.
* Most of the Beast Hunters Toyline.
* Arcee's "incognito" character development in Transformers Prime
* Optimus Prime not having an ounce of interesting character whatsoever in any of the Transformers cartoons. Seriously, look at this ****:
    * G1: Bland leader with only an acute sense of humor on his side
    * Beast Wars (Primal): Bland leader with only an acute sense of humor on his side
    * Beast Machines (Primal): I don't even know what's going on anymore
    * RiD: ...
    * The Unicron Trilogy: Bland leader/fatass with only an acute sense of humor on his side
    * Live Action Films: Terrible leader with anger issues
    * Animated: Cliché and uninteresting young hero archetype
    * Prime: Blandy McBlandleader
* I suppose this relates to my problems with Geewunners, but if you're going to reuse a Transformers character for your story, make him or her different. If you're going to do the same thing, you might as well leave it in that cartoon or comic, because bringing it over here isn't doing a damn thing for anyone but making you look like a piss-ass writer.
* Third party companies obsessing over G1. We've got 50 different versions of the same character from these guys. Why not try and redo (or create in some cases) toys for other franchises? Most BW season one characters need new toys. Plenty of Beast Machines characters are piss-poor. Armada could use some new toys as well. How about doing some of the Animated cast that never got toys, or maybe accurate versions of Prime Skylynx and Darksteel? I'm so sick of seeing a brand new version of G1 Devastator all the time.

And last but certainly not least:

* Overstocking the first waves of a toyline. For God's sake, we don't want your damn Bumblebees and Optimi. What's the point of making more than two waves of a toyline if all your going to do is make them harder to find than an emerald? Prime suffered terribly from this, and it still hasn't fully resolved itself. I'd like to have that shiny guy from the sixth wave, and I'd like to not climb over a mountain of the first wave to get to it.

:BANG_HEAD:

And now, just a couple of response to make.

Skywarp64 wrote:He was enslaved in the '86 film as well, didn't stop him from coming back meaner than ever in season 3.

G1 =/= Prime

Skywarp64 wrote:He shouldn't be good, he should be insane, like Galvatron.

This is what I meant in my list above. >:oP

Yweggo wrote:Ultra Magnus in Prime. He had potential that they didn't do much with, then in Predacons Rising they beat the crap out of him so they could put Bumblebee in charge.

His entire character arc in that show involved his command over the rest of the team, especially his interactions with Wheeljack. That guy had already been developed before the TV movie.

ZeroWolf wrote:I think it is a big deal and something that would be frankly unimaginable to us, we are talking his spark getting tortured here. A pain that was enough to make Mr badass cry out. He wasn't just possessed, he was enslaved. That was what made him think about what he had done.

Can someone give this guy a medal? :APPLAUSE:
