Wasn't his planet. Wasn't his decision.

Right, because the Doctor is known for his strict non-interference policy...

Burn wrote:The start of the season saw him talking about how he's made mistakes and needs to fix them, this could be one of those times where he's letting others make a decision he has no right to be involved in.

No right? I wasn't aware you needed special permission to save entire planets. Hehehe, I wonder what prior Regenerations would would say if they were told they had "no right" to make major planet-saving decisions...

Then Clara was right all along, and he was a dick for making her think either she was going to die, or all of Earth was, when that wasn't really the case.

Madeus Prime wrote:Really enjoyed that episode. Especially when Clara ripped the Doctor a new one. I'm sorry, maybe it's just my tendency towards the 11th Doctor, but I love having this Doctor being chewed out for his mistakes. I just find myself wanting to punch him whenever he comes into a scene. It's very aggravating. He's the Doctor, a good man, a hero. And yet, here, with #12, he's detached, impatient, keeps calling humans stupid, and makes far to many mistakes. Look at any of the other Doctors, they loved humans. I quote: "You are the only mystery worth solving." - #11.

Nope, the first Doctor hated humans and looked down on them, saw them as stupid inferior things. He later warmed up to them and learned to tolerate them, but it was only later incarnations that suddenly had this major boner for humankind.

And I have to be honest, I'm really sick of the current show having the doctor have this super hardon for humankind, it's not cute, it's also far beyond having respect or admiration for something, in the current show he's often portrayed as viewing humans as these magical superior beings that are so incredibly special beyond everything else in the universe. So having 12 be less like that is a huge plus.

Clara will be back, remember they confirmed that this'll be the last season for her, and I seriously doubt that they'll write her out of it with this episode, but I hope they do it in such a way that she can't come back, have her exterminated or something like that, if we can't have companions like Donna or Amy and Rory back, then we better have her permagone to.

And looking at Sylvester McCoy's website, we get episode descriptions:
http://www.sylvestermccoy.com/newdoctorwho/
Stating that Clara leaves in the season finale, or maybe the Christmas special.

There's been no official announcement regarding Clara (if there has, feel free to share). A lot of rumours for sure.

Well, I enjoyed it even if the plot was a little silly at times. I thought the idea of the moon as a gigantic alien egg was quite cool as a concept, especially as the implication was that watching it hatch was the catalyst for humanity's expansion into space. Whether the script delivered is an entirely different issue and one that I'm not too sure about.

I'm also finding the frictitious relationship between the Doctor and his companion refreshing, rather than just the boring love-in that it's been since 2005. It's looking like next week's episode is going to be very Doctor-centric as a result of the big fallout. I'm looking forward to seeing Cipaldi spread his wings a little bit and concentrate on him rather than the turgid scenes spent on the Clara/Pink love story.

My bad, I got that from when it started and it wasn't reported as a rumor but fact.
But, gotta say, the reactions to those rumors from the team make it sound like that's what's happening, since they sound like the usual "yeah not really, can't say since we don't want to spoil much" answers you usually get with stuff like that.

Well finally got round to the last two episodes. Enjoyed the caretaker episode and I liked the part at the end tieing together the missy and the promised land story threads. Didn't pan out how I was expecting with the clara/ Danny thing. Though I'm not sure about the doctors dislike of soldiers, he's certainly knew his fair share of ones he liked (like brigadier Lethbridge Stewart)

Now, kill the moon. Clara's outburst seemed very forced. For once the doctor was letting humanity decide it's own fate and the she goes on and argues that he should be there for every big event to save them. Which is a little insulting. I hope it is true that shes gone after the xmas special. She's out stayed her welcome. I think the show should experiment a little and give the doctor mixed companions, about three of them. Keeping love out of it of course. I put up with many seasons were the companions swooned over the doctor. Thankfully caplidi has ditched it, hopefully forever.

He didn't let humanity decide its own fate, he forced Clara to choose. (And ironically, while humanity did decide...Clara chose the opposite) And worse is that it's implied he knew what the correct choice would have been anyway. All Clara knew is that she was being forced to choose between a nuclear death, or the end of all life on Earth, all because the Doctor suddenly stopped caring about saving humanity.

I took it as he knew what choice mankind would make...which he would of hated the one they wanted.

On the whole though looking at it as she sees it, humanity can't do anything without the doctor. Logically they didn't need help in their choice as they make choices like that throughout all of who history. The doctor tries to make sure that they are good choices, but given now it must feel like humanity can' make any choice without him.

I really liked that cover, added something different to it. As for the episode, that was a very quick turn around for Clara wasn't it? I was looking forward to seeing the doctor on his own (or maybe pick up Perkins...guess frank skinner was too expensive to hire as a companion) I enjoyed the plot itself, even if the resolution was a bit rushed.

Back in the Classics series The Doctor ran into one of his other classmate "renegades" (The Master and The Rani being others) and I thought Perkins would have fit that role nicely.

Except that Perkins was a lot nicer then them, the least menacing of the renegades was the time meddler.

As impossible as it is I would like Omega to return somehow, he was sympathetic in his original appearance (his appearance in the Arc of Infinity less so)

No, the one from the Classics series was an Engineer of sorts like Perkins and he chose to distance himself from the others because of trouble they use to cause.

Now I need to find that story and watch it.

Yeah, the idea of some rogue Time Lords popping up would be very interesting. Especially considering the truth about Gallifrey being saved, it's possible some Time Lords managed to find a way out of the time-lock. Heck, the Time Meddler showing up wouldn't make for a half-bad story. I mean, there are even grounds for the Master to show up this season. I doubt it's actually what'll happen, but here's my two cents:

What's a female term for a Master? A Mistress. Shortened to Missy, because the Mistress is a mouthful. Just a theory, probably completely wrong.

Ahh that explains why I have little memory of him. I have only seen that episode once and that was years ago when one of the channels did a keys to time weekend. Yeah reading that I see what you mean.

100% sure that Perkins is a Time Lord and also "Gus".

The whole "it can change someone often" line at the end makes me believe that he's been doing this with the orient Express multiple times, with him among the passengers, regenerating should something go wrong.

Don't think he's a pre-established Time Lord though, wouldn't it be cool though if he was the original owner of the TARDIS? I mean it would work, considering he had the number and pointed out that a few parts needed replacing.

This has got to be my favorite episode of the season thus far, very cool and interesting story, cool look, good acting, good effects, the only real downsides is the kinda rushed feeling ending and how fast Clara changed her mind.

Interesting note, checking the Tardis Data Core (DW wiki), the Doctor has actually been invited to the Orient Express on screen in "The Big Bang".

I agree, this and Listen have been the most entertaining.

I must admit though, the Mummy was beautifully designed. IMHO, one of the best looking monsters we've had on Doctor Who. And one of the cleverest in terms of gimmick, like with the Weeping Angel's stone form and the Silents' memory wiping, with it appearing only 66 seconds before dying. Very cool and very creepy.

I enjoyed the episode, though I thought they could of condensed some of it. The monsters were a good addition, just hope they are used again. We also got a good bit of missy. My friend pointed out that the image of Clara looked like it was taken from the doctors viewpoint...I'm now favouring a new theory of her...she's the valeyard (from Trial of a Time Lord) or something similar, the dark manifestion of the darkness within the doctor. Probably wrong but it would be nice if they remembered the valeyard :)

It would make sense. And since all of the people we've seen in the Neithersphere have had a connection to the Doctor, whether he tried or failed to save them from dying.

Also:

Dark Water wrote:In the mysterious world of the Nethersphere, plans have been drawn up.

Missy is about to come face to face with the Doctor, and an impossible choice is looming.

“Death is not an end” promises the sinister organisation known only as 3W – but, as the Doctor and Clara discover, you might wish it was.

"Death is not an end"? Maybe these people are being revived from the Doctor's guilt or conscience? Weirder things have happened on Who.

Though I suppose one could say that the Doctor should've acted sooner and prevented the Skovox Blitzer from doing it in the first place.
