The Hot Wheels and Diecast Car Collecting Thread

Do you collect other toys besides Transformers? Maybe you've got a Masters of the Universe collection you'd like to show off, or maybe you like Thundercats, Voltron, G.I.Joe, Power Rangers, Star Wars, Wrestling, or any of the various comic book toy lines. Please keep the discussions here to non-Transformers toy lines.

Well, I haven't seen one of these on here, so I decided to create one.

I'm a big Hot Wheels and NASCAR diecast collector. I must have over 1,000 diecast cars. I figure there has to be some others here who collect them too.

So feel free to discuss anything diecast cars: Hot Wheels, Matchbox, NASCAR diecast, Transformers RPMS/SpeedStars, etc. Maybe post your latest new Hot Wheels findings.

Fire away!
THANK YOU HASBRO! You listened to my begging. Ultra Magnus lives again.

Is it the whole sacrilege from buying from Mattel thing?
It is a very addicting hobby though. It really gets ahold of you.
*Goes into Toys R Us, picks up two Transformers figures.*
"Hmm...I'll take a look at the Hot Wheels. But I'm only buying a maximum of TWO. I'm not going broke. (gasps) Holy slag! Their loaded with new stuff! I'll get this one and this one and that one and that one and...ooooo they actually have that one!"
*Grabs ten Hot Wheels and takes them to the check out.*

Just a typical day for me. You, my friend, are lucky enough to be able control the urge.

I have mostly specialy Red Line stuff and a few Treasure Hunts.

The big item in my collection is the complete World Race set with the 35 foot track.

Holy crap! I've only found one! Those licensed cars are hard to get. I'm just glad I got one, as well as the Danica Patrick Impala.

And I betcha I got you beat in number of Hot Wheels. Granted, I usually open mine unless they're rare ones, but I have to have over 500 in Hot Wheels brand cars alone.

What I'm really wanting to get this year is that '68 Camaro they're supposed to release...that is, if it's still a go. My dad's first car was a '68 and that car really grew on me, but it seems that year always gets ignored when it comes to collectibles.

Actually those just include unopened cars. God knows how many open cars I have.

It would take me months, if not a year, to round up every single Hot Wheels car I own.
Then I'd have to count them.
My dad is always saying "you should count all the Hot Wheels you have sometime". Easier said than done. Especially when the collection grows by the week.

Where do you keep all those???

I used to have a few when I was younger. But then Transformers took over.

I do remember one Matchbox car I had. I lost in 4th grade. It was light blue, and was the same model as the old police cars from the 70s. A Dodge something. I have been looking for another one for a few years, but short of going through the ENTIRE Matchbox inventory, I doubt I will find it.

I'm not sure if this question was for me but the 300 in the package I keep on this really cool rack that I paid a guy $20 for. It came from a store and can rotate 360 degrees. Totally awesome except for how heavy it is.
The rest are either in those clear carrying cases you get at Walmart or mixed up in boxes.
