i agree with 98% that.
the Halloween movies are so warped and disfunctional in their canonicity that it's hard to tell how Michael would really have acted after finally killing his sister. in Halloween 4: Return of Michael Myers, he goes after his niece when he finds out Laurie is already dead... even though many don't really count 3 - 6 as happening in the same universe as Halloween's 1, 2, H20 & Resurrection. either way, Michael will kill whoever he sets out to kill.
when it comes to Jason, when he's determined to kill something, he'll likely venture out past the woods of Crystal Lake, as evidenced in Friday the 13th VIII: Jason Takes Manhattan, and Freddy vs. Jason, for that matter..
common denominator between the two? they both have a hard on for getting the one that got away. so, here's how they clash..
after learning of his mother's death in Resurrection, John Tate(Josh Hartnett's character in H20), moves as far away from the memories as possible and ends up in a lil town called Crystal Lake, where he takes on a summer/fall job as a councilor at the nearby camp. things go well through summer, but as fall rolls around, John begins having strange dreams.. like something is awakening inside of him and pulling him toward.. what?.. soooo, as the cycle of Camp Crystal Lake goes, we know what happens next. and John, thinking Michael Myers has followed him to Crystal Lake to finish off what he started, decides to meet his destiny head on and finish off the f*cker who killed his mother for good. after a run in with a hulking, machete weilding, hockey masked maniac, John becomes confident that it's just some local asshole who knows his history and is taunting him with sloppily executed copycat killings. and John lures the killer into a trap in which, in some hollywood grand fashion, he heroically "kills" the wanna be Michael Myers. the next morning, he hops on the first train outta town, relieved to be over the ordeal and glad to have rid himself of the Haddonfield Hacker's half wit imposter .. but unbeknownst to John Tate, that was no copycat killer he encountered at the lake.. it was an entirely
different monster altogether.. a monster by the name of Jason Voorhees. train trouble forces the passengers to off load a couple of states before their intended destination, and John checks into a local hotel. that night, John has the same strange dream, something awakening.. awakening and coming.. he sees the terrified face of some hapless stranger as hands that weren't his own close around their throat, snapping their neck. the next morning, a newsflash on the t.v. of the diner he's sitting in catches his eye, namely because the picture of a man found dead at a local truck stop looked exactly like the man he saw in his dream. John, in disbelief, looks out of the diner window and, off in the distance, sees the silhouette of a shape.. an all too familiar shape in cover alls and a dingy white Halloween mask. the month is October. the date is the 30th. queue John Carpenter's "Halloween Theme". in a frenzy, John Tate rushes to the train station only to find it crawling with police. apparently, someone had slaughtered the entire crew in various gruesome ways, and it was discovered that the cause of the train trouble was a huge machete that was found imbedded in the engine block. something had clearly followed John from Crystal Lake. but the authorities weren't convinced. the police knew all about John Tate's past and held him for questioning in connection with the fresh Crystal Lake murders, the truckstop murder and the train murders, stating that "crazy must run in the family", a reference to fact that his mother killed an emt technician thinking it was Michael Myers. disgruntled & irate, John lashes out at his interrogators, warning them all of their impending doom if they don't let him go. this earns him a night in prison, with the police lieutenant joking that if Michael Myers or any other lunatic wanted to kill him, he'd have to obtain a visitors pass first, and wishing him a happy Halloween before locking the the cell and leaving. that night John, trying to sleep, is assaulted by the most vividly horrific dream yet.
he's standing outside of the very same precinct he's holed up in, looking inside at a fat patrolman reading the newspaper. he walks over to the powerbox and opens it, tearing out the wires and blacking out the entire building. somehow he knew the fat patrolman would come outside and he waited in the shadows, drawing an enormous kitched knife from his cover alls... as the patrolman rounds the side of the building, he reaches out and... John Tate is awakened by the high pitched shriek of a man in close proximity. it's pitch black in his cell... in the whole
building.. and suddenly, horrifically, his dreams begin to make sense... he realizes that he's not dreaming... but
seeing... seeing what his uncle.. Michael Myers, is seeing... there is a sudden whirring sound as the emergency generators kick on and a dim red light floods the precinct... and he sees, holding a bloody kitchen knife and staring menacingly at him from across the open building, the very face of true f*cking evil. as Michael Myers begins his advance, he's stopped short by a loud bang coming from the door on the other side of the building, and with a deafening crash, the metal bolt locked door rips from it's hinges and flies across the precinct. standing there seething, is none other than the machete weilding, hockey masked psychopath John had encountered in Crystal Lake... Michael Myers
and Jason Voorhees have both come for the prize of John Tate's head... and neither one of them are willing to accept sloppy seconds. who takes home the prize?
