You can customize guns in Borderlands? How?

You can't. Well, you sort of can, but it's basically cheating, and the resulting weapons aren't considered legit. When you can slap together a gun using all the best special effects (Bessie's crit damage, Dove's infinite ammo, Stalker's Ricochet rounds, explosive rounds, etc.) suddenly there's no more challenge to the game.

But were do you get guns like "Bessie" and "Dove" in the first place? Iv'e been all over pandora!

More importantly, makes you hate dueling. Its a massive ego killer to be beaten by a guy 20 levels below you with a reaper.

DLC? Cause all I have right now is underdome...

Dove is a reward for one of the missions on the Middle of Nowhere bounty board. Bessie is a pearlescent ranked weapon, available only in the Secret Armory DLC.
