And we already got to start the year off with Captain America, which was absolutely superb. (Not to mention, Lego Movie. I loved that one.)

Oh, that looks awesome. It's basically what happens when Stark Industries goes under, so Tony, Happy, and Natasha start a food truck.

I just graduated Chefschool, so this is right up my ally.

"wah wah wah we keep losing money to movie pirates"

Well shit, maybe if you did worldwide releases in the same week it wouldn't be so much of a problem?

Was released in Australia last week, no doubt to capitalise on the school holidays.

Huh. I forgot about the Apes movie. I do want to see Bricks Mansions, even though it's a remake of District B13, which wasn't that good, really. So I have mixed feelings.

Burn, I agree with you on the piracy thing. They should do releases all at the same time. And the ticket prices are getting up there as well, which is probably another factor. I don't mind paying for myself, but a family with at least 2 kids wanting to go to a movie will be spending close to $100 after tickets and concessions, so no wonder sitting in front of a computer at home with cheap Walmart popcorn or buying a pirated copy from someone for 1/2 the ticket price is an accepted alternative. I'm not saying stealing is OK, but that's pretty much what the movie industry is doing by charging so much, though I do realize some of that belongs on the shoulders of the theaters themselves.

Went to Captain America 2 the other day with my sister and nephew, as I owed my sister for Wrestlemania I paid for the three tickets plus food and drinks for myself and my nephew which totalled $66 (plus whatever my sister spent on food and drinks for herself). Oh and we have to factor in the cost of travel as the nearest cinema is about 90km's away (one hour drive)

Normally I can get cheaper tickets through my phone provider ($10 as opposed to $17.50) but I can't do that on public holidays or after 5pm on a Saturday.

A family couldn't do that on a regular basis (even with the cheap tickets) so it's no wonder people pirate.

I won't download cam versions, I've tried but the quality is too crap for me, I'll wait for a blu-ray/dvd rip, which again, if they timed for simultaneous international release would help minimise piracy.

TV's just as bad. Game of Thrones is the most pirated show with Australia leading the charge. Foxtel (cable/satellite) "fast track" it within a few hours of the US but we still pirate it because Foxtel just isn't affordable either. I can't justify paying $40/month to watch one or two TV shows a week, even if I do record it to watch at my own leisure.

Ironic you should mention GoT. I just started watching this show (4 episodes in) and that's how I'm watching it. I can't justify paying $40-50 for a DVD set with 10 episodes on it. I do have cable service, but I use it mainly for sporting events and Monday Night Raw.

Technically there is one about 25 mins away but only runs Friday, Saturday and Sunday nights, with one movie a week and defaults to the 3D version. It's locally owned, not one of the big chains.

Our local one closed down about 20 years ago (or whenever Species and Power Rangers came out because they were the last movies I saw at the Airdome)

I honestly had no interest in GoT but my boss had the S1 dvd's (which have subsequently been passed around at work) so I borrowed them and watched it. Then obtained copies of S2 and S3 and caught up. Now I'm on the weekly schedule.

I download Raw, because again, not paying for Foxtel which shows it on a Wednesday afternoon when I'm at work. On the flip side, I can go to my parents place after work on a Friday afternoon and watch Smackdown before it's aired in the US. (Don't bother with Smackdown any more though)

I haven't watched SmackDown since 2002.   Once in a while, I catch a piece of it, but it's not worth the product to put the 2-hour effort into it. Also, today is Cena's 37th birthday.

Yeah I came to that conclusion nearly two years ago when I found myself fast forwarding through most of it.

I wouldn't mind downloading NXT once in a while but you know ... Australia ... the land of download limits.

I'll never, ever watch another movie with that racist, anti-semitic, woman-abusing turdcutter Mel Gibson. Which is a shame, I really enjoyed the first Expendables movie (haven't seen the second), and I would happily go see it if he weren't in it.

I do hope Ninja Turtles turns out to be good, though the chances of me ever watching it are slim.
