Gentlemen, (And Va'al), I'm in the midst of a slight dilema...More or less of a should I care situation.

I've got a friend, who is somewhat of an alcoholic, had recently got into a conflict with his girlfriend's sister, which involved her consuming some very fine whiskey and the cops were called. He didn''t do anything drastic with the sister, but because of what happened, his girlfriend dumped him.

Now like the total bro I am, I helped and gave him advise to get through it. He eventually got BACK with his girlfriend, but has to quit drinking and somehow prove it to her that he quit.

Well now I'm getting sick of his whinning on how much he misses his booze, and how hard it is to quit. And I get it, it is a tough habit to break, but he's only complaining at ME.

Now here's the kicker: So girlfriend's sister tells him one day that she is totalling DTF, and how it can be their "dirty little secret." So he comes bragging to me now. Yeah I'm a little jealous, but I love my girlfriend (and the sis is uglier than sin) But he's wondering if he should go through with doing the deed.

What I'm wondering, is if you were in my shoes, would you support your friend to lie to his girl in the hopes of getting some? Or would you try and talk him out of it?

Well, MasterSoundBlaster, it is one thing to be womanizer when you are single. Hell, I try to be as much of one as I can. But if your friend is in a committed relationship (not to mention one he ALREADY had to rebuild), I do not believe he should lie to his GF in order to "get some". He should either commit fully, or call it off. I've seen several of my friends relationships ruined in situations like this.

Just my thoughts on the matter. What you make of it is your business.

Well, given his current status as a recovering alcoholic, that's to be expected. It's hard to find that balance between being easy enough on him because of it, and being hard enough on him so knows he's gotta be strong. Honestly, I wouldn't be a part of his "plan", for lack of a better term. If he wants to carry it out, it shouldn't be your burden to keep his secret. My advice would be talking to someone closer to you that you feel you can trust not to blow this out of proportion, proportional though it may be.

As that can be hard as well, just remind him of what he would be throwing away. Even if he thinks it'll be a secret, women are smarter than we men tend to realize until it's too late. Likely, his GF will find out eventually. Rumors might spread, and believe me, there's always somebody looking for rumors to spread.
