The next step for a 3.5 year old after Rescue Bots?

I've got a three and a half year old nephew who is just crazy about Transformers right now. He got into Rescue Bots over a year ago, and shortly afterwards, his parents and "Uncle Jake" supplied him with each "EZ2DO" figure from the show. He loves them and lines them up at the foot of his bed every night.

Recently, he got to watch the original G1 cartoon. Now he's fascinated with Dinobots, "Big Blue Guy (Soundwave)", and "Sunscreen (Starscream)." I'd love to get him some toys of these G1 characters that I grew up with, but I don't know of any that match the proper aesthetic of G1 and the simplicity of Rescue Bots. I've thought about getting that SDCC Titans set with non-transforming figures of Optimus, Megs, Screamer, Soundwave, and Grimlock, but I think my nephew may be disappointed that they don't "robot switch." Anyone out there have some creative ideas? He's a very bright little guy, so he might be ready for simple manual transformations.

Honestly, most of those figures mentioned are pretty simple to transform and play with. Perhaps find a few incomplete G1 figures on eBay that are still in good shape?

While I agree with Mkall that the G1 isn't hard at all, I would perhaps recommend Cyberverse especially legends size? They are easy to find and can handle a beating with arms and legs that can snap back on.
