Not only that, but Eli got nailed A LOT after the ball was gone. Most of the hits on him were A LOT more severe than that one on Rodgers that got called.
To say I'm ecstatic that they are out, being in the middle of Wisconsin, is an understatement.
Unless your team is one of the 4 remaining, you really have no room to act smug about anything. Refs gonna ref, so deal with it. Teams get home field advantage with the refs, especially if it's the saints or the pack. (if the saints played the niners at home, they probably would have won, just sayin)
Anyway, like wilbon just said on PTI I think a lot of things came together to make this happen. The layoff in all aspects (though rodgers cannot be blamed for the drops, he was off on a couple of his throws, and driver played his heart out and played the best out of anyone besides the oline), what happened earlier in the week with Joe Philbin, and we probably peaked too early this season. This all being said...Thompson needs to revamp the secondary and needs to get a DE, whether in the early rounds of the draft or through free agency.
As for the playoffs...I say 49ers and Ravens, with niners winning. With all of the crap Smith has gone through, he definitely deserves to win it. As for caldwell...not surprised. It's rare when you coach a 2 win team or less and survive to coach the next year, even with injuries and what not.
EDIT: Wow, Flacco is tied for most road postseason wins? Damn, that's impressive, bravo sir.
