I'm a pretty big Digimon fan, but I haven't been keeping up with lately. I've watched the majority of seasons 1 and 2, some of season 3, and I think all of Digimon Frontier. I watched the first episode of Data Squad then pretty much forgot about Digimon till I saw your sig. Also, I'm new here.

Welcome.

I've seen every dubbed episode. Every episode of Adventure, Zero Two, and Savers subbed. I plan to see Tamers and Frontier subbed as soon as I can. I've also seen all nine movies (all those that have been dubbed, and all but one subbed).

So, watcha wanna talk of?

Erm...I dunno. I was kind of sad that Tamers wasn't in the same universe as the first two seasons. I'm not sure where Frontier fits in.

Every series except Adventure and Zero Two are in their own universe.

Only in the English dub. It was a concept that was to have been used in Tamers, but was dropped for some reason.

But when it was dubbed in English, they acknowledged that Digimon had a TV show in addition to a card game, video games, and virtual pet toys.

But, even in the dub, the show was only mentioned in passing. They didn't actually specifically say that Adventure and Zero Two were the TV show in the Tamers dub, but it is implied to be so, as you hear people mentioning the names "Kari" and "Yolei" at least once, but they weren't that noticeable. As well as Takato mentioning Azulongmon before they even meet him (referring to his TV show appearance in Zero Two).

But then again, it's best not to think too much about it, as Ryo has appeared in both Zero Two and Tamers, and yet no one in Tamers who watched the show ever mentioned Ryo being on the show.

And it complicates things when people wonder if Takato's teacher could be Kari (which she's not, as her name in the dub is Nami Asaji, and her Japanese name is Nami Asanuma). Them having the same voice actress was a dub in-joke.

I need to go watch Season 3. I saw the first two or so episodes and bits of pieces of the rest. I'm also not an expert on all the different Digimon. I only remember the Digi-Destined's Digimon(Agumon, Garurumon, Guilomon)some that appear a lot(Bokomon, Trainmon, Leomon, Wizardmon), and some that just etched on to my brain(Burgermon, Brickmon, Candlemon).

Brand New Digimon Series! - "Digimon Around"

http://withthewill.net/index.php?topic=13405.0

Just gonna post this here and post information when necessary.

Discussion will still be in the news thread: http://www.withthewill.net/index.php?topic=13374.0

Obviously all of this is 'as we know it thus far' and could change.

The title of the new series is Digimon Around. (Figure I should put this here since I thought of it, it's always possible it could be a one off movie or special, ala X-Evolution. All info most definitely points to a SERIES, but nice to cover the bases.)

It will begin airing in the spring.

The normal timeslot Digimon has is currently taken by Dragon Ball Kai. It could mean any of the following: Kai will take a break, Kai will move timeslots, Digimon will get a new timeslot, or other options I'm not thinking of at the moment.

It appears a DS and Wii game will come out while the show is airing. These games MAY be connected to the anime in some way.

The show will likely be announced at Jump Festa, or an upcoming issue of V-Jump.

One of those sites that list info on upcoming anime does indeed have Digimon Around listed, which confirms earlier information. (http://fukuani.hp.infoseek.co.jp/fukuani_shinban.html)

The info thus far gives us enough information to 'generally' say, that YES a new show is in fact coming, and it isn't a rumor.

But it is always nice to lean a little bit on the side of 'maybe not' until we get an official announcement.

What does G1 have to do with Digimon? If you're referring to the first series, it's called "Adventure".

And if you're referring to the so-so quality of the English dubs, watch the Japanese versions. The English versions changed too much stuff.

But if you're referring to just the newer series in general, then may I tell you that, while Adventure was probably the best and most successful, the others are NOT bad. In fact the series that seem the most popular would be Tamers, the third series. Zero Two, the second series, while successful, wasn't really as good in quality as Adventure and Tamers were. Frontier, while probably the least popular, does its merits. Like, making all the children fight the battles themselves kept them from being the "lazy cheerleaders" that the children of the previous series tended to be.

The standalone movie, Digital Monster X-Evolution, only seemed to have one fault: no humans. BUT, in a way, that could be a good thing, as it gave more freedom to develop the digimon characters without needing rely on the human partner. Plus, the movie had soem very beautifully done CGI animation, which is quite rare consideringthat the Japanese aren't all that spectacular at CGI in general.

And finally, Savers seems to have just one, but still major drawback: subpar character development. But the plot, story, action, suspense, and emotion make up for this fault, as it was one of the most intense and realistic Digimon stories of them all (probably second only to Tamers).

Like the Transformers, I don't fully dismiss one or some stories because their quality isn't as good as an other series (like Energon, for instance - it's not my favorite, but I don't despise it); rather, I embrace everything as a whole and accept it for what it is. Some series are good, some are great, and some are just okay, but I have yet to find any "bad" Digimon series.

Haha, I was joking there. But yeah, I was referring to the first seasons that I grew up with. I actually started collecting Digimon before Transformers. Was a huge fan of the figures, tcg and gadjets. I've got a collection back in my hometown that I need to unearth out of the basement and complete.

I guess it's pretty funny because I kinda know how G1-ers feel about New Transformers. I don't have anything against New Digimon. I'm sure it's fantastic, I just haven't been exposed to it yet. And I don't want to either.. yet. There's so many different names from the Digimon series that'll give me a headache.

My favourite has to be the horned beatle beast - MegaKabuterimon :);

Unlike the vast amount of TF series, there exist only five Digimon TV series: Adventure, Adventure 02 (A.K.A. Adventure Zero Two or simply "Zero Two" for short), Tamers, Frontier, and Savers. The English dubs called these series Season 1, 2, 3, 4, and Digimon Data Squad (not "Season 5", surprisingly). Each series, except the last two, got two movies each (Forntier and Savers got one each, and the X-Evolution movie is a standalone film). Though, there are also some manga series (one or two of which pre-date the first anime), and many video games too.

Even still, the blue would've made one sweet Digivolving action figure. :-B

I mean, sure the red one we got was good (even if it was bright red instead of maroon red), but the blue would've blended in better with the Kabuterimon parts.
