What does G1 have to do with Digimon? If you're referring to the first series, it's called "Adventure".

And if you're referring to the so-so quality of the English dubs, watch the Japanese versions. The English versions changed too much stuff.

But if you're referring to just the newer series in general, then may I tell you that, while Adventure was probably the best and most successful, the others are NOT bad. In fact the series that seem the most popular would be Tamers, the third series. Zero Two, the second series, while successful, wasn't really as good in quality as Adventure and Tamers were. Frontier, while probably the least popular, does its merits. Like, making all the children fight the battles themselves kept them from being the "lazy cheerleaders" that the children of the previous series tended to be.

The standalone movie, Digital Monster X-Evolution, only seemed to have one fault: no humans. BUT, in a way, that could be a good thing, as it gave more freedom to develop the digimon characters without needing rely on the human partner. Plus, the movie had soem very beautifully done CGI animation, which is quite rare consideringthat the Japanese aren't all that spectacular at CGI in general.

And finally, Savers seems to have just one, but still major drawback: subpar character development. But the plot, story, action, suspense, and emotion make up for this fault, as it was one of the most intense and realistic Digimon stories of them all (probably second only to Tamers).

Like the Transformers, I don't fully dismiss one or some stories because their quality isn't as good as an other series (like Energon, for instance - it's not my favorite, but I don't despise it); rather, I embrace everything as a whole and accept it for what it is. Some series are good, some are great, and some are just okay, but I have yet to find any "bad" Digimon series.

Haha, I was joking there. But yeah, I was referring to the first seasons that I grew up with. I actually started collecting Digimon before Transformers. Was a huge fan of the figures, tcg and gadjets. I've got a collection back in my hometown that I need to unearth out of the basement and complete.

I guess it's pretty funny because I kinda know how G1-ers feel about New Transformers. I don't have anything against New Digimon. I'm sure it's fantastic, I just haven't been exposed to it yet. And I don't want to either.. yet. There's so many different names from the Digimon series that'll give me a headache.

My favourite has to be the horned beatle beast - MegaKabuterimon :);

Unlike the vast amount of TF series, there exist only five Digimon TV series: Adventure, Adventure 02 (A.K.A. Adventure Zero Two or simply "Zero Two" for short), Tamers, Frontier, and Savers. The English dubs called these series Season 1, 2, 3, 4, and Digimon Data Squad (not "Season 5", surprisingly). Each series, except the last two, got two movies each (Forntier and Savers got one each, and the X-Evolution movie is a standalone film). Though, there are also some manga series (one or two of which pre-date the first anime), and many video games too.

Even still, the blue would've made one sweet Digivolving action figure. :-B

I mean, sure the red one we got was good (even if it was bright red instead of maroon red), but the blue would've blended in better with the Kabuterimon parts.

Unfortunately, it's in a bin (along with rest of my large Digimon toy collection) that is quite difficult to get out. But, I did a Google search for images of said toy and found these two pics:

News from homefront.

While there is still nothing yet confirmed on the new "Digimon Around" series, there still a glimmer of hope. If any info is to be revealed on this in the next V-Jump issue, then the next issue is due out for release just before Christmas (the issues usually come out around the 21st of each month).

So, I'm watching the first few episodes of Data Squad on Youtube, and I have this to say. Why is that giant birds always attack Agumons in crowded cities and get pwned by some form Greymon? It happened in that one movie, and it happened in the the first episode of Data Squad.

A running gag, I guess. :P

Anyway, notice that the dub of Data Squad is significantly better than those of the previous four seasons. It's almost all dead-on diailogue with the original Japanese version, nearly every voice is good/decent match to the Japanese voice, the BGM is handled better, there are very little (if any) changes that were made to the plot/characters (most changes were censorship cuts/edits instead of those to story content), and there's even a "next time" preview att he end of each episode.

And wait till you get much further into the series, where you'll get to here one of the best music pieces of the series: the fan-named music known as the "Dub Opera" (the dub equivalent of the Japanese version's "Latin Opera" - also a fan-coined name).

ARe you referring to the BGM played when Agumon became GeoGreymon and pummeled Kokatorimon? Then yeah, that's the song played for the Child/Rookie to Adult/Champion evolutions. The ones where they become Perfect/Ultimate, Ultimate/Mega, and Burst Mode get different and better songsfor themselves.

In the Japanese version, a really awesome song called "Believer" would play during the fight scenes and evolutions instead of just amped-up BGM.

...Except for the fact that no such boxsets existed.

The only English dub DVDs of Dgigmon ever released were the first 13 episodes of seasons one, the horrendous dub movie (which is just movies 1-3 hacked up and joined together), and a set of episodes 1-13 of Data Squad.

Okay, that last one is a boxset, but still no Digimon series has ever been fully released on DVD in English in the U.S.

But I'm okay with that cuz I prefer the Japanese versions. Of which I have already downloaded all of Adventure, Frontier, Savers, and all nine movies subbed in English. Still waiting on Adventure 02* and Tamers.

*While Adventure 02 has already been officially and fully subbed by Toei, their subbed aren't for free and contain some Dub terms that should be present. Another group, however, is fixing these subs and is releasing them for free.

Okay then, I'm nearly done watching Data Squad, only six episodes left to go, and I have a few comments.

*ElDradimon's agonized cries as he was impaled by the Gizumon Javelin were so sad. And the fact that Baromon's last words were in vain cause Marcus failed to save ElDradimon were sad as well.
*The episode where MirageGaogamon Burst Mode premiered was really deep and moving, but the one with Ravemon Burst Mode and Rosemon Burst Mode seemed kind of rushed in the Burst Mode part.
*Shawjamon seems to bring TMNT to mind. He is a ninja turtle, just not teenage or mutant.

1. Yes they were. And that moment was especially powerful in the dub because it introduced a very special piece of BGM that fans have called the "Dub Opera" (because the Japanese version had a similar piece of BGM that fans refer to as the "Latin Opera" because... well it is a Latin Opera :P ). Also, I didn't like how the dub edited out the laser from Baromon's death. We know he gets shot, but the dub made it look more like his back broke out or something.

2. What they did to RhodoKnightmon (or "LoadKnightmon" as the dub called him) was hilarious by having him protrayed as an uber-flamboyant guy (as opposed to a flat-out female as the season 4 dub portrayed him). And as for the latter, yes it did seem rushed, but by that point, those two were just extra hands on the heroes's side.

3. Actually, he's based of the character of Sha Wujing from the Journey to the West story. Sha Wujing was a holy being cursed to become a half-kappa, half-human. Hence Shawjamon's Japanese name "Shawujinmon".

4. I was actually wanting Lillymon's dub voice to do Lilamon's dub voice back when the Savers series started, but this was good enough.

I want them to do more stuff with UlforceVeedramon. Except I've already read he doesn't do anything noteworthy at all. And LoadKnightmon will always be Crusadermon to me. I grew up on Frontier darn it! On an other note, I love the Commandromon line. Tankdramon is so much cooler then Tankmon.

He does? Which episode? Gah, even Magnamon and Dynasmon did more then him. I haven't seen Omnimon do anything yet, but it's only a matter of time. Gallantmon, Leopardmon/Duftmon, LoadKnightmon/Crusadermon did some stuff. And they just love Craniamon.

It's near the series end. But all he says is something like, "Do you feel that?" and that's it. But it's awesome nonetheless.

After reading the Digimon Next manga, where they are all heavily featured (minus Darkdramon), here's what I have to say about each of them. Bombmon is surprisingly deadly for a Baby I, Missimon is a lethal Baby II, Commandramon ain't no wannabe Agumon, Sealsdramon is tough (if kinda weird-looking), and Tankdramon is BEAST! Sadly, there was no Darkdramon in the ranks of the Commandments.

And Tankmon has little, if anything, to do with this line.
