99% of the video is true. I am not a native of Cleveland, but have lived here for awhile (most of my adult life, except for 7 years in Kansas City MO which I try to block from my memory). The Free Stamp... all the people I know don't get that thing and no one considers it art. (well, technically it is art, but just because something is art doesn't mean it's not stupid.)

Though Cleveland isn't THAT bad. There' just no jobs here. Kind of important... but they film the Avenger movies here! That's something, right?

Actually, I like it here. We get a lot of bands and entertainers touring through here. Also the public transportation system is good. We could do with some more trains, but you never have to wait too long for a bus or a connecting bus. Oh, and we have pocket communities.... you never have to go far to find a grocery store or department store, or a bar... you can find a bar without looking.

When I lived in Akron, a friend and I took a limousine up to Cleveland on St. Patrick's Day around 9 in the morning and started drinking, meeting other friends throughout the day while going to a lot of bars, keeping it up until the bars closed. However, our limo never showed up to pick us up, so we were forced to walk from the East side all the way through downtown, almost out to the lake, at 3 in the morning. I was drunk and paranoid at the same time, I had my hoodie on because it was cold, and I couldn't help thinking we were gonna get robbed or worse. Nothing happened, but that was a somewhat unnerving experience. As soon as we got to our "safe house" for the night, I was offered (and turned down) a hit of cocaine. Fun night.

Well, Rodimus, sounds like you had a 'great' time :p

I've actually never had a problem in the bad neighborhoods, though it's really about how you act. Don't act scared and you'll be left alone. Also don't look like you have something worth taking. But as you said, there's just not the gangs here as in Detroit, so it is a bit safer (we just have more psychopathic WEIRDOS here be more afraid if someone offers to help you than anything else)

Meh, it's like most other big cities anymore, especially up North. Like you said, the jobs are gone. That contributes to the destruction of a city more than anything, through crime and deterioration of the buildings. I'm getting visions of Mega-Cities from Dredd more and more...

Yeah, watching a city decay is just, well depressing. Cleveland's trying a big push to bring people back to living in the city. Though the most interesting part is we were out in the east suburbs a week and a half ago. We used to work down in Mayfield and had to go out to a store out there. I was absolutely amazed at how many of the businesses were still there (it's been at least 10 years since I've been down that way), small businesses and then new businesses. Same thing is going on in the west suburbs (the outer ring ones on both sides of town). Very much thriving and bringing in businesses. But the city is slowly crumbling.

What would be the best thing to do is have all the abandoned warehouses and manufacturing plants either renewed and reopened our just demolished altogether. Sadly without manufacturing jobs it would have to be the latter. But like I said, that's a problem with most big cities up North. Combine it with poopy weather and incompetent government, and it's very hard to overcome problems. It will be up to corporations with lot of capital to revitalize these cities by taking them over. I really think the concept of privatized cities is not far from being a reality, like how OCP owned Detroit in the original RoboCop movies.

That was already a thing.

It's not the same. The link is to a community that a company starts in a remote location for the purposes of owning all housing and controlling all commerce and other parts of society and economy. I'm talking about a mega-conglomerate overtaking an already existing, individually participating city that has a crumbling infrastructure. The end-result might be similar, but the direction from which they arrive is different.

I don’t even want to think about a corporate controlled world (not that it already isn't to a degree)

I am simply being welcoming to the n00b by relating to it through friendly banter regarding its immediate environment, thus putting it at ease over its possible apprehension regarding its involvement in a new social group. It's called "making a friend." Or "trapping a prey." Depending on how you view me.

Face it. You're creepy, people don't even need to meet you face to face to learn this.

He will though. Far too sensitive. I hope you're happy now that you've made him cry.
