Maybe not the only one, but you're in the minority. Really, I think the first word should be replaced with something like the opposite of a star that's also monosyllabic instead of just "Dark such and such" but I can't think of anything fitting.

It's forged from Dark Energon. How do that not work?

Because calling something the "Dark [weapon that the good guys have]" is a cheap naming cop-out. Also the Star Saber isn't forged from Energon, AFAIK.

But in this case is has a precedent, being forged from Dark Energon and all.

And it serves as the perfect mockery of the Star Saber that simply "Dark Saber" and/or "Vorpal Saber" wouldn't capture as well since it's not just some random Saber but the Star Saber. Megatron is taking the good name of the sword and twisting it into something ugly and revolting all in an act of spite.

Besides "Dark Energon Star Saber" is too much of a mouthful, and "Dakr Energon Sword/Saber" just doesn't have that same oomph.

Dark Energon or no, it's still a gawky name and I don't like it. Bottom line.

Same can be said about the name "Dark Energon" itself.

Seriously, is that the best they could have come up with? Even "Angolmois" sounds more mystifying.

Either way, it's what we got and makes "Dark Star Saber" work.

Actually, I agree with that. Dark Energon shares no real similarities with regular Energon, and is basically a colloquial term for the blood of Unicron. It needs a better name, too.

Though, technically Dark Energon can be made from regular energon, so there is that connection.

But still, kind of an uncreative name.

Megatrons deal with names he always uses the oposite of whatever OP uses such as Cybertron he used Nemesis Breaker which is opisite from Leo Breaker.

Nemeis was forgred from the Shadow Spark of Unicron the dark mist.

Dark Energon in Prime is the Life Blood of Unicron it re-animates the dead or makes them Terracons.

Red Energon amplifies which was my theory at the beginning and I was dead on saying that it makes one stronger or gives them unsual abilities from Knockouts Sound to Starscream's super-speed.

Greeen & Blue - Blue Heals and Green Posions while Dark Energon isnt really Energon it is like a Shard.

Still awesome stuff on Prime I think I will set back and watch the final episodes before I say more. Also on Sat I been watching the new TMNT taking some use to get into way way diffrent from when I was a kid. Then again so is TF Prime from my G1 1984 Transformers but I like this change it is friggin awesome.

Dont forget people they said Combiners in Prime maybe in Season 3 remember Ambominus he is a Combiner Beast. Also dont forget about Predaking and others.

I will work on a new name for Dark Energon I agree Saber it is like they didnt even try to make it creative and done it the cheap way.

Why not call it Elemental Chaos or Dark Chaos Energy i will work on the name more maybe I can play around and find a better name for Dark Energron.

Still, the Vorpal Saber is more creative.

I just call it the Dark Saber and get on with it. :P

Dark Energon in Prime is the Life Blood of Unicron it re-animates the dead or makes them Terracons.

Um...the Aligned family is the first time there's anything called Dark Energon in the franchise period. There's no difference between Prime Dark Energon and the Games' & Novels' Dark Energon.

Red Energon amplifies which was my theory at the beginning and I was dead on saying that it makes one stronger or gives them unsual abilities from Knockouts Sound to Starscream's super-speed.

Red Energon does not control sound. It just gives you hyper-speed and "strength." Knock Out's sound is most likely from the Resonance Blaster.

Greeen & Blue - Blue Heals and Green Posions while Dark Energon isnt really Energon it is like a Shard.

Dark Energon isn't Energon? Then how is it Dark Energon?

All Energon comes in shards until it's processed, except for Synthetic Energon for self-explanatory reasons.

Dont forget people they said Combiners in Prime maybe in Season 3 remember Ambominus he is a Combiner Beast. Also dont forget about Predaking and others.

But why use them when we could have a Prime Bruticus and........Defensor?

I think Abominus and Predaking would be a more perfect fit for the Beast Hunters storyline rather that Bruticus and the Combaticons or the Aerialbots with Superion.

I would love also to see in prime The Protectobots also a combiner.

Some triple changers such as Springer and others from G1 done in a whole new way if Abominus and Predaking were to be in Prime trust me they wouldnt be like in G1 new look new Alts and a new Combiner Form.

Skylynx would also fit into the Beast Hunters storyline.

Indeed, but I don't think that means vehicle-based Transformers will be cut from the story altogether.

We don't know that. There have been plenty of physical character homages to say Transformers Prime doesn't completely re-do designs to make the mind-blowingly different from G1. Take Ratchet, Breakdown, Megatron, Wheeljack, and Cliffjumper for examples. The only two that do not have any physical homages to a previous incarnation as far as features or color scheme go is Soundwave and Makeshift (with the arguable Smokescreen, Dreadwing & Knock Out).

Skylynx would also fit into the Beast Hunters storyline.

Indeed. I just hope the "Beasts" coming to us in Beast Hunters are triple changers, with the third mode being a vehicle for disguise. It would make a nice story arc and great sales gimmick if Hasbro does the toys right. ;)

As long as it goes snicker-snack, then it's fine with me.

You're forgetting that the Dark Star Saber was made by the Forge of Solus Prime, which can literally make ANY weapon provided the power of a Prime and raw material. I didn't mind the Dark Star Saber either, Sabrblade ;)

Also, better name for Dark Energon? Corrupted Energon, Unicronic Energon, Tenebrous Energon, Chaos Energon....... i could go on :) you could also put those names in front of Star saber and it works too. But Dark Energon and Dark Star Saber, while they don't really trigger the imagination, i think they work.

Because you said the Star Saber isn't forged from energon. that's true, but it also doesn't matter because the Forge can make anything, so the material the Sabers are made out of makes no difference

Are you suggesting they obtain the Forge of Solus Prime and attempt to create a new Star Saber?

I only brought that up because Sabrblade pointed out the connection between the Dark Star Saber being named such partly because it was made out of Dark Energon. Sure, "Dark" also means "evil", "corrupted", "negative", etc. in this case, but calling it the Dark Star Saber because it's made of Dark Energon when we don't know that the regular Star Saber is made of regular Energon is a bit of a failed parallel. I just want a better name, honestly.

Ah i gotcha. I don't know that that was the only reason it was called that, but i see what you mean now.

Hello, Seibertronians. I'm posting on this forum for the first time.

First of all, I am old fan, going back to watching the first generation cartoons when I was growing up in Michigan. (I used to watch the cartoons on Detroit Super Station at 5.30 and then catch another one that would air again an hour later on the WGN station in the Central Time Zone.)

So I had a love for all those original G1 series. I've gone back and looked at it over the years. I am one of those who HATED the first live action movie and it was as disappointing to me as was Greedo [allegedly] shooting first.

I've sat and watched some of Transformers Prime (8 episodes in) and I have to say I was very impressed. First of all, I am impressed that this show started out with a plausible explanation of how the Autobots would happen to be in our world, and that they focus on five main characters with distinct personalities, body types, and colors. I always thought the original cartoons lost something when they tried to squeeze every toy in there. As many of those toys were really sub-par and just copies and not worth including.

I never thought I would find the Transformers interesting again, but as someone who could take or leave it, I give hats off to the creators who decided to take the "best" elements of all the TF narratives.

Before this, honestly, my favorite take on the TFers were probably the first few issues of the Marvel comic book involving Ratchet confronting Megatron and trying to use the Dinobots. All the series went kinda downhill after that point if you ask me.

I was one of those kids who wasn't happy with Optimus dying in the movie and at that point the enthusiasm left me.

It's nice to see them back in some form. The toys from what I've seen look like the best versions they've ever been. I'm otherwise a big sci-fi fan, so it's nice to see.

Kids growing up with this now... sheesh. I hope they feel lucky to have people who are apparently fans actually handling the franchise. I genuinely feel like they do. And even as a kid I could sense when the cartoons/comics/movies were handled by hacks who just cashing a check to toy advertisements.

Cheers

Eh. I grew up with the Unicron Trilogy. The Transformers media is improving (with no aid from the Bayverse). Not so much the toys; getting cheaper and cheaper.

But then how would they blend in with urban patrol?

Unless they'll be in a rural outpost.

Then again, if we get the Dinobots, we might have some problems

Unless they go with Dinobot Island again.

So many "Unless" :-(
