What does that have to do with it?

Because you said the Star Saber isn't forged from energon. that's true, but it also doesn't matter because the Forge can make anything, so the material the Sabers are made out of makes no difference

I only brought that up because Sabrblade pointed out the connection between the Dark Star Saber being named such partly because it was made out of Dark Energon. Sure, "Dark" also means "evil", "corrupted", "negative", etc. in this case, but calling it the Dark Star Saber because it's made of Dark Energon when we don't know that the regular Star Saber is made of regular Energon is a bit of a failed parallel. I just want a better name, honestly.

Ah i gotcha. I don't know that that was the only reason it was called that, but i see what you mean now.

Are you suggesting they obtain the Forge of Solus Prime and attempt to create a new Star Saber?

That wasn't my intent, but it'd be cool

Hello, Seibertronians. I'm posting on this forum for the first time.

First of all, I am old fan, going back to watching the first generation cartoons when I was growing up in Michigan. (I used to watch the cartoons on Detroit Super Station at 5.30 and then catch another one that would air again an hour later on the WGN station in the Central Time Zone.)

So I had a love for all those original G1 series. I've gone back and looked at it over the years. I am one of those who HATED the first live action movie and it was as disappointing to me as was Greedo [allegedly] shooting first.

I've sat and watched some of Transformers Prime (8 episodes in) and I have to say I was very impressed. First of all, I am impressed that this show started out with a plausible explanation of how the Autobots would happen to be in our world, and that they focus on five main characters with distinct personalities, body types, and colors. I always thought the original cartoons lost something when they tried to squeeze every toy in there. As many of those toys were really sub-par and just copies and not worth including.

I never thought I would find the Transformers interesting again, but as someone who could take or leave it, I give hats off to the creators who decided to take the "best" elements of all the TF narratives.

Before this, honestly, my favorite take on the TFers were probably the first few issues of the Marvel comic book involving Ratchet confronting Megatron and trying to use the Dinobots. All the series went kinda downhill after that point if you ask me.

I was one of those kids who wasn't happy with Optimus dying in the movie and at that point the enthusiasm left me.

It's nice to see them back in some form. The toys from what I've seen look like the best versions they've ever been. I'm otherwise a big sci-fi fan, so it's nice to see.

Kids growing up with this now... sheesh. I hope they feel lucky to have people who are apparently fans actually handling the franchise. I genuinely feel like they do. And even as a kid I could sense when the cartoons/comics/movies were handled by hacks who just cashing a check to toy advertisements.

Cheers

Eh. I grew up with the Unicron Trilogy. The Transformers media is improving (with no aid from the Bayverse). Not so much the toys; getting cheaper and cheaper.

Or maybe they'll go for "realistic" animal modes, like they did for the initial season of Beast Wars. ;)

Although triple changers ala the Horrorcons would be an interesting addition to the series. :-?

But then how would they blend in with urban patrol?

Unless they'll be in a rural outpost.

Then again, if we get the Dinobots, we might have some problems

Unless they go with Dinobot Island again.

So many "Unless" :-(

Never did I imply that the Star Saber was made out of energon.

I only mentioned that the "Dark" in "Dark Star Saber" makes sense as it's a Star Saber counterpart forged from Dark Energon.

It's not the "Energon" part of "Dark Energon" that mattered, but the "Dark" part.

I made no such claim. What I said was that, from a show standpoint, using the "dark" in Dark Energon as a naming basis for the Dark Star Saber kind of draws a flat parallel when the regular Star Saber may or may not be forged from Energon.

And it's like Dark Optimus Prime, they have a much better name for that, that isn't just saying what it's a copy of with the word "Dark" attached in front. And while I'm thinking about it, the Nemesis Saber? That would have been an amazing name. That would have been a way better name that Dark Star Saber.

That would be a bitch'n name, and fits in because it's made from the blood of Unicron.

We're all ignoring the obvious: Death Star Saber of Ultimate Doom.

Is that enough oomph, Sabr? Image

While I'm not a huge fan of "Dark Star Saber" (it just sounds too long and doesn't flow off the tongue that well), I understand the naming. But I've got to admit, "Chaos Bringer" & (especially) "Nemesis Saber" sound pretty sweet!

I see nobody wants to join me in calling it the Dark Saber. :-(

Anyway, I notice the Insecticons slowly replacing the Vehicons. Hmm....

This is going to transition right into Beast Hunters. :-)

I'm OKAY with Dark Saber, but I'd prefer something altogether different.

And you're right. Less Vehicons, more Insecticons. Good catch!

Here's a thought.

Remember the season 2 DVD/Blu-Ray art?

Image

Notice the Cybertronian object in the middle behind Prime and Megs? We haven't seen this thing in the episodes yet, but since we've had more info regarding the upcoming episodes of season 2 since this was first seen, do you guys think that this thing could be the Omega Lock? ;)

It looks like either Vector Sigma or the front of the Nemesis to me. Or maybe it is the Omega Lock. :???:

I too originally thought it was Vector Sigma's console, but was proven wrong by a quick rewatch of the scene.

As for the Nemesis, seems kinda random for something not that important to be given such focus on a DVD/BR cover.

Seeing as this setting is in space, I thought it could be the Nemesis moving toward Cybertron, and Optimus & Megatron are battling on it's roof.

Also, note Megatron doesn't have his new arm. It's absence meaning to refrain from spoilers, or maybe Megatron loses it sometime before the finale (or during)?

That's just a superimposed, faded stock image of Cybertron laid over the background space.

You can still see stars and space on the bottom left and right of the photo, just above the platform the faction leaders stand upon.

It's still a stock image of Cybertron. Most of those will have it set in space.

Plus, an actual scene set in space wouldn't have that bright whitish blue tint on the background while everything else remains normal and unaffected in normal lighting.

What is there to really say it's not the Omega Lock?

I don't have doubts.

I never said it wasn't the Omega Lock. We should consider other possibilities, however, by examining what's in the background rather than the obvious.

I fathom the Omega Lock is on Cybertron rather than orbiting it...on a platform that looks a lot like the Nemesis. Unless Megatron gets his hands on it first.

Why are you taking mere DVD/BR artwork so literally? Since when has original artwork that was made specifically for a DVD/BR cover ever portrayed a literal scene in Transformers media?

Look at the season 1 artwork. Did Optimus and Megatron ever have a dynamic pose session in a bright blue Cybertronian ruin in any season 1 episode?

In "Darkness Rising", did all the characters ever stand together on a mountain with the Decepticons on another mountain in the background during a lightning storm at night like in its DVD art?

In "One Shall Fall", "One Shall Rise", or "Orion Pax", did Optimus, Megatron, and Unicron all stand in front of the Earth in outer space with Unicron standing behind them as they look away from him like in the DVD art?

You can't make such specific assumptions based on vague DVD artwork. Optimus and Megatron fighting on a platform over Cybertron is as generic a situation as the other above DVD cover descriptions.
