Episode 48; Hard Knocks

...
creepiest title ever

Sheesh, "Previously on Transformers Prime" without a "To be Continued..." again?

"Last one to the Omega Key has to scrub the Energon tanks for a week" --

"Who knew Soundwaves could be such a Knock Out" --Oh, god.

All keys look the same. Cool beans.

Arcee & Bumblebee failed, but I bet if Smokescreen was there....

.....nevermind

Red Energon takes longer to process that regular energon.

You don't have the...ball bearings? Dafuq, Bulk.

Damn, Screamer. Epic entrance.

So this is the negotiation Starscream is going to give Megatron in Episode 50? Not Red Energon, but rather...the 3rd key. Interesting.

Arcee, STFU, kkthxbai

Honestly, Arcee is getting on my nerves. Perhaps she's upset that Smokescreen is replacing Cliffjumper as the 6th member of Team Prime?

Ooh, Soundwave's been lookin' for the Autobot's base through the humans.

Whoa, Smokescreen's the fourth key? So that's why they capture him. Presumably Alpha Trion purposely sent him to earth?

*credits roll*

Son of a-

Sh** just got real.

Y'know what?

Episode 49 -

Megatron's gloating at the beginning really shows that he was more concerned about showing up Optimus than acquiring the relic.

Knock Out's sudden wanting to go after this relic really doesn't get an explanation. I mean, why now, of a times, does he want to go get this relic, instead of during any of the previous times following the events of "Hurt"?

Smokescreen really feels like he should be Hot Rod/Hot Shot, but then his line about destiny stands out from that since the typical Hot Rod/Shot character didn't reach their destined positions by thinking they were supposed to. To them, it just happened. Here, however, smoke thinks he's supposed to become great.

"Destiny's child". LOL

Hey, Knock Out got away with the relic. That was quick. And Megatron really doesn't know what it is.

Oh wow, they're going after the third one in the same episode. I'm liking this good pace.

Bulkhead and Dreadwing have a Matrix-style fight. ;)

So wait, how come Dreadwing's bomb is so easy to remove this time when it wasn't so in previous cases?

The key was just buried under some rocks? Smoke, can't you see that when things are that easy they never really are? You had much better intuition than that before. Then again, I guess this keeps him from getting more Gary Stu-ish, so kudos to him having some personal flaws.

Sneak attack from Snake Eyyy-I mean Soundwave. And he got the third Key. Two wins for the villains in the same episode. Wow.

Whoa! It wasn't Soundwave being ninja-like, it was Starscream using Red Energon. And he overheard Bulkhead talking about Alpha Trion and the Omega Keys. Snap!

Laserbeak has been sent out to seek the proximity of the Autobot's base.

Both sides have decoded the final entry... but there's something different. Instead coordinates, it's bringing up an image.

SMOKESCREEN! He's the last relic?!

By a stroke of luck, Laserbeak has spotted Smokescreen.

Soundwave got him! What took the Autobots so long to bridge to his location?

The end? And without a "To be continued..."?

Holy smokes. This was a huge episode. All sides played a role, and the stakes really felt high this time. We also got more insight on how and why Smokescreen just happened to wind up on Earth. Things also really feel like endgame, as though this could be the end of the series instead of just the second season. It'll be tough for season 3 to top this unless Beast Hunters really blows us away. And, for the second episode in a row, no humans. Go figure.

Next week, Smokescreen is a hostage and being held by Knock Out, he tires to escape but can he? And the Bots also fight Starscream (this trailer was shown during the end credits of the repeat of last episode that aired after this episode).

Next coordinates are discovered :D

Looks like Arcee and bumblebee are on this one against Knockout

Knockout soundwaves are a knockout!

 Megatron still doesn't know what the Omega Keys are. Ha he's left out there

Starscream is still waiting for that energon to process since he got it in New Recruit...
And it's finally done

This time it's Bulkhead and Smokescreen against Dreadwing
So far it's a battle with bombs
Bulkhead pulled a fast one on Dreadwing with that

Smokescreen found the relic and he's got it
Wait never mind

Starscream sure is fast with that energon

Well Arcee is yelling at Smokescreen and he left
Nice going Arcee

Finally the last relic is... Smokescreen

Well he's gone and that's not good

Now soundwave took him and its over

Can't wait until next week!!!

:D :D

If that isn't enough evidence.

Here ya go:

It's just a Decepticon keyboard. After looking at this, I'm convinced that it's not the Omega Lock. Are you?

Also, off the controversial topic, I see a pattern of Arcee & Bumblebee against Knock Out. :-|

Oh man, this episode. I haven't been following the spoilers, so I expected the Omega Keys to be one-per-episode for the rest of the season. I got that wrong. 0_0 All 4 in one episode, and SMOKESCREEN is the last one. Alpha Trion's a troll. 'Course, he's voiced by George Takei, so there you go. So I guess the rest of the season (all 3 episodes) is going to be everybody working against each other to try to get all the Omega Keys. Can't wait to see how that will turn out. I hope Smokescreen comes out of it okay, even though he's kind of annoying. He reminds me of Armada Hot Shot, but with loftier expectations.

Also, holy hell Knock Out was a badass this episode. The Sonic Disruptor or whatever it's called is pretty killer.

Turns out the big control panel everyone's fussing over is the healing chamber.

Also. Good Episode. Really, as soon as that pixel image popped up, I knew it was smokescreen. I just, I don't know how that will factor into everything. I also really want a uniquely molded smokscreen toy. He's the chosen one now. I'de be miffed if he didn't get one.

Well, three in one episode, the other one in the previous.

Alpha Trion's a troll.

Alpha Troll or Alpha Trioll? It's up for vote; now!

There are four episodes left.

I like Smokescreen. He's a breath of fresh air for me, at least.

But of course...he's probably going to sacrifice himself for the restoration of Cybertron.

Apparently I'm very off it today. 4 episodes left, Resonance Blaster, technically the first Omega Key in the last episode. I should know all this. *slaps self lightly*

I'm sure it had nothing to do with G1 Smokescreen/Bluestreak/Prowl having their own forehead crest, but stylistically elongated to make Prime smokescreen more unique.[/scm]

Another cool episode, that resonance blaster cracking BB's chest was intense, too bad it did virtually nothing. I also liked that the Decepticons were finding the base, it's about time. The slo-mo battle with Dreadwing and Bulkhead was sweet, and Smokescreen being the key was awesome. Can't wait to see what happens later.

Sweet is an understatement. It was incredible! Intense!

That's saying a lot for me, as I don't really like a lot of Bulkhead vs. Con battles

HARD KNOCKS

So, the plot is intriguing, but mixing up the alleged aligned continuity rewrite of Gen 1 is an epic fail with these versions of Soundwave, Smokescreen, Starscream and company running around. I totally don't like these writers in the bigger picture they are in.

Bulkhead: This new, frosty, spiky, aware version of post traumatic Bulkhead has shot straight up to being my personal fave character. Even took a verbal shot at Miko. Good on him.

Arcee: Gave Smokescreen the Thundercats/Voltron/He-Man/Scooby talk. She and Bumblebee are back in business and it's no longer the Wheeljack show or the Smokescreen show. Good.

Smokescreen: This poor G1 Autobot gem has the name that will be targeted by anybody writing their own TF show. In their attempt to make it NOT look like G1 these writers have married Hot Shot to BW Dinobot. Sucks. Go get your own Transformers to wreck. Where is Q?

Knock out: More than a Gaylord in a Spaceship: he can actually fight and will even take time to playtest the resonance blaster whilst toying with his prey. Like.

Starscream: Meh. I still love you even tho you're a gimp to the plot. Hope you hyper-tackle some Deceps before your next embarrassment. I'd love to see you win to wield all 4 keys. Liking the fact that Optimus and Megz both assume the other has an additional key.

Dreadwing: What, no absolutely pointless flourishing of your sword just before you say anything? Pfff. Character development, my butt. G1 Thundercracker and Skywarps Techspecs, having cost a few minutes of pay to type up, have done more for TFs than the $$$ that the cost of your computer developed model ever will (writers- ). Good fight, tho.

Megz: Now I understand why they didn't care about wrecking that shield-relic. His graverobbed arm looks like one, but isn't one, so giving Optimus a shield (when he had a sword) would have been off. Oh well.

A few weeks ago when ppl started noticing the kids were being written into the background I figured there would be an end-season invasion of the A/bot base. The Deceps got pretty close to it with Laserbeak but they have what they wanted (Smokescreen) so I don't think there will be such an invasion. Still, the mathematical possibility that not even one scraplet got left behind...*shrug*.

Oh yeah, forgot to mention, did anyone notice the improvement in Animation? Everyone's moving around a lot more fluidly now, not so much like robots (ironically). I like it, it makes them seem more autonomous and alive.

Also, I thought it was funny when Knock Out said "Who knew Soundwaves could be such a knock-out". Always funny when Transformers make fun of Tranfomers names (see: they don't call him starscream for nothin).

Are you kidding me, now?

They announced years ago that there will be 'a single continuity which will be used to stake out all [mixed-up versions] of the TF story into one [timestream] that all continuities will be using "for a while, at least for the foreseeable future". The announcement for WFC was in the same week.

Isn't the Cybertron story (the games) the official rewrite of G1? Isn't TFP the continuation? Allegedly on official grounds?

:You know how the Superman (or any other) origin gets rewritten every once in a while, so that Smallville is a decade more modern and the Kents are a decade trendier? It's a Gen 1 rewrite like that, in part as well, but a lesser part in this rewrite (because there will be more in the future).

: when they announced a couple of years ago that they'll rewrite a new official timeline for TFs and have to put G1 in it somewhere? It's extra- official in that sense, because the old place of G1 gets superceded.

: When they officially put a group called 'Generation one' into any OFFICIAL timeline it's a rewrite that is set in stone. Generation one is now officially the first group of free Autobots who are associated with the Ark.

Yes, Dinobot. "I am Smokescreen. I am a Warrior! I am THE Hot Shot. It is my honor to be glorious. And yet I am robbed of my glory, for I must first learn to be an Autobot, since it an honor to be one. Then I must learn that I am the key to the outcome of a single battle, glorious, tho my glory is stripped from me and I am imprisoned within a predecided destiny. The choice which was made for me-to be the key-is the hardest reality but the easiest truth etc.etc. I mean come on I shouldn't have to point all this out.

The Aligned Continuity is not a rewrite of G1. It's a new continuity which all new TF media for the near future will take place in. It takes elements of various previous continuities, but it isn't a "rewrite" of any single one. G1 still exists in a separate part of the TF multiverse

I'm not seeing the Dinobot parallels, at all. Smokescreen is much more in line with a Hot Shot/Hot Rod parallel.

Yeah, if Dinobot is being compared to anyone, I see him being much closer to Dreadwing than Smokescreen.

Yeah, if you want to compare any Beast Wars character to Smokescreen, it's probably Cheetor.
