Another excellent episode of Rescue Bots. :KREMZEEK:
This show has some amazing writers. I must say that it has blasted all of my expectations put of the water in the very best of ways.
The way they portray Chief Burns and Doc. Green is especially amazing. Two single fathers trying their hardest to raise their children up right. So here we have the good Chief setting aside Father/Son time with his youngest only to have it interrupted by, of all things, an emergency. Who would have thought? But he is not down for the count by any means. Classified backpacking trip!
:D All the characters are so well done. Even the reporter has depth. You have to admire his gusto at the same time you want to smack him for being that stupid. And Kade…that arrogant so-and-so has game!
:APPLAUSE: It is official. Chase is my favorite bot! :APPLAUSE: I just adore the by-the-book type and he is creative to boot! The trash can! “Can I have that in writing please!”
Now there is one thing that bugs me about this episode. That was a grizzly bear. For some reason Chief burns seems completely unsurprised to see it on what is supposed to be a New England Island. There haven’t been wild Grizzlies in that part of the world for decades…
Still and all a great episode. ;)^ It really should have aired last week as a Father’s day special though. It wouldn’t have altered the main plot flow for the series.

Well, this isn't the first time that the show deviated from real world history. In episode 2, they said that there was an artificial volcano featured in the 1939 World's Fair, when there was no such thing in display at the World's Fair in real life.

   YES THEY SHOULD HAVE!!! :KREMZEEK: :KREMZEEK: :KREMZEEK:

Somehow, I see that "electromagnetic deadzone" making another appearance in the show. Perhaps if/when the Decepticons make an appearance on the show.

Episode 17 -

Flashback to the 1800s.

DUDE!!! Things were violent in Griffin Rock in the 1800s! Pirate ship comes by and just goes all out, laying waste to the town with heavy cannon fire! 8-) 8-) 8-)

The name of the ship was the Oaken Crow.

This flashback is like Pirates of the Caribbean cartoon-style. :P

Cody's a member of the Lad Pioneers, kinda like the Boy Scouts.

Now we got a Founder's Day episode. Cool.

"We arrived, we survived, and we thrived." - decent motto.

Uh oh, I think we got some more shipping going on (Dani and that guy at the airfield). ;) ;)

Okay, now I understand why Blades can't fly away with Cody back to shore. His rotor is damaged.

Oh, Blades, why you so adorable?

Okay, Heatwave is abusing his "Roll to the Rescue" command. He does not need to use it for any and all functions if they don't involve, you know, rolling!

    at Heatwave falling off the cliff after Blades nails him with a crab!

Ew, Cody's eating the fish he caught raw.

The next morning, the search party is on! And Dani and that guy from before wave to each other.

Though aged from time, the Oaken Crow still looks good after 200 years.

...And still sea-worthy, apparently, as it said on easily while carrying the weight of the Bots, despite not having set out to sea in 200 years.

Brilliant idea using the bell to send a signal to the others! Right on, Cody!

Whoa, Graham! Asking if the pilot Dani likes has a sister. This show's got more ships in it than we thought. :P

Nice neckerchief, Blades. ;)

As a former Boy Scout (with a rank of Eagle), I really really liked this episode! Lots of scouting points helped save the day throughout the episode, and we got another piece of the show's history. Plus, we got a new shipping pair, and a great moment of hilarity with Steve Blum screaming as Heatwave fell from cliff. Priceless!

This episode is a perfect example of the emotional detail that goes into the show.
In any show involving missing family members, but especially cartoons, narm is an ever present threat. In "The Lost Bell" however everyone's reactions feel real and unforced. Well, for a family of emergency responders who deal with life threatening situations on a regular basis.
This emotional maturity is one of the main reasons I can not only sit through a whole episode but enjoy every moment of it.

Whoo, yeah. And does anybody else think Blades might have some jealously issues if Dani goes up in another aircraft?

Here's a question. Given the number of Chekhov's Guns that have appeared in the show already; given that the statue of the Burns family patriarch has appeared at least once significantly, given the focus on the Burns family working as a FAMILY is a time travel episode inevitable?

Finally got to see this episode on Hubworld. Apparently, all the youTube uploaders were away for the weekend or got gunshy.

Pretty sure I saw some charing on that fish...

Really, that was the only issue I had with the episode. Sure, we have 200+ year old ships like the U.S.S. Constitution and H.M.S. Victory still around (and in the case of the former, actually still on the water), but they've been regularly maintained. I wouldn't have expected the Oaken Crow to be intact, let alone seaworthy (I seriously doubt that cave was "hermetically" sealed). The bell, maybe; a wooden ship, not so much.

I know, I know, we are talking about a TV cartoon with transforming, alien robots... but my suspension of disbelief can only go so far. :P

Episode 18 -

No less than mere seconds in and already does the meteor make impact.

Oh hai, Bumblebee. That was quick.

Another use of the shorter theme song.

Only Heatwave recognizes Bumblebee. The others have only heard of him.

BB beeps just just in Prime! And is described as the scout of Optimus Prime's team, as well as having lost his voicebox in the line of duty. Continuity! :D

Blades is such a BB fanboy.

 Bumblebee is partaking in this visit/mission without Optimus's orders? Someone's not playing by the rules. :P

Optimus! In all his Peter Cullen-voiced glory! That's two-for-two in this episode!

Looks Bumblebee might be sticking around for a few more episodes. 8-)

Heh, Heatwave's still looking to join up with Optimus in the war. :P

Hah! Everyone wants to hang with the new guy!

New emergency. But Bumblebee's gotta stay behind with Cody since they'd have to first explain the presence of a new Bot to the citizens of Griffin Rock. Smart thinking.

What the-?! Some unknown force is causing the Bots to automatically revert to Vehicle Mode during the emergency. Except Blades. Maybe the meteor did affect the others, as Blades didn't go near it.

Good thing Bumblebee's Rescue Bots toy has (almost) the same altmode as his Prime character model has, as they can show him in altmode here with little conflict with his Prime appearance.

Heatwave, Chase, and Boulder can't even move on their own, so now the humans get to actually drive them for once. Kade's happy about that. ;)

They've all gone silent now too, being unable to talk or interact as persons. :|

Optimus mentioned Ratchet (though, referred to as "our medic").

The others have contracted a virus from the meteor. Rescue Force Sigma-17's ship contained the antidote to this virus in its inventory.

Optimus possibly alludes to the Decepticons, or any other enemies like MECH ("those wishing to do us harm").

I just noticed that Optimus's face in this series bears a resemblance to the Autobot symbol.

Now the three infected Bots won't even start. And the virus is decaying their bodies.

Graham! Man overboard!

Bumblebee saved him. But now who's going to save the fast-sinking Bumblebee?

And the detonator has been kicked on, with abort switch broken. Four minutes until they all go up. :o

Go Blades! And go Bumblebee!

KABOOM!!!

I just knew they'd get the sample with a piece of it getting stuck on one of them.

Hey! Graham's finally getting to use some Cybertronian tech.

Cody's learned how to understand Bumblebee. So much for Raf being unique.

Ahh, Blades hugged Bumblebee.

I guess Bumblebee goes back to Optimus after all.

This episode was fantastic!!! I mean, WOW! Aside from the Dr. Morocco two-parter, this got to be one of the best episodes yet! Bumblebee was great fun and Blades's relationship with him was superb! I hope doesn't be a stranger and comes back soon. He played the role of this show's "Sixth Ranger" perfectly!

Oh yeah, that was my reaction to this episode. Watching the Rescue Bots go into full blown fangirl mode had me giggling. Optimus was Optimus, what more need be said?
It's interesting to watch Bee interacting with bots he ranks. He makes a great big brother.

So yeah
