Episode 19 -

Kade's right. That's seriously unfair for Cody to use antigravity sneakers when playing Basketball.

Graham got accepted into the Gremsky Technical Institute, which Chief describes as being "the best engineering school in the world". Makes sense since Graham says that the only accept five Ph.D students a year. But, it's on the mainland, which means he'd have to move there and leave the team. The Bots ain't happy about that.

Hay, it's Cody's hoverboard that we've only seen in the promo art and never in the show until now!

"Squilsh", as Doc and Frankie have named it, is a goo-like substance brought back from the Mars explorer for analysis. So, at least it does have a practical explanation of how it got to Earth.

And after that electrix charge, it's now behaving like Flubber.

Uh-oh. Squilsh can expand by absorbing water. and it's on a planet that's mostly covered in water, so...

But it doesn't seem to like electricity. Still, it's consuming loose, unsecured objects.

It's go time!

It's getting bigger with each object it absorbs.

NOT MISTER PETTYPAWS!!! Image

Oh, thank goodness. There are air pockets inside the Squilsh, so the cat' should be okay. Phew!

Chase! NO!!!

Oh, wait, he's fine too. But he's still trapped.

Whoops! Technical error. Boulder's line of "Then let's get in range" was spoken by Steve Blum. Or at least, it sounded like it.

Nice shot, Heatwave!

Mister Pettypaws! He's free! :D

They've finally figured out its vulnerability to electricity.

I love it when this show acknowledges when "corny" can be "too corny".

I also like these little moments between the human and bot partners. Graham and Boulder's little talk about the differing merits between education and experience was really well handled, as brief as it was given the crisis at hand.

Okay, so direct current strengthens the Squilsh, but alternating current weakens it.

Chief: "How did the Squilsh get so big?!" - did you really have to ask?

Graham and Boulder did it!

Doc turned it into a lava lamp.

Graham's decided not to go to Gremsky Tech after all.

Good episode. In spite of the surreal threat, the best parts were those between Graham and Boulder.

Okay. FINALLY watched the Bumblebee episode and the Squilsh episode. Bee was a pretty cool cat in this show, certainly much more fun than he is in Prime proper. :P Love how the other bots were fangirling over him, while the humans were just like "Cool, whatever." I like how they made him dependable but flawed, carrying over his impulsiveness from Prime that's gotten him in trouble a few times. And they even got the same voice actor! [/shot]

Squilsh. What a substance. Animated by electricity, consuming everything in its path.....it's a bit cliche, honestly. But still a good take, and a good frame story for Graham's higher education dilemmas. And they snuck in a few lessons on electricity. Heh.

Episode 20 -

Frankie calls the Helper Bot "Dither".

Doc Greene's gone, and the bugs are back in town.

The bugs just jacked someone's ride, man. Another abduction.

And three more. And more.

This looks to be more emergency calls than they've ever had.

Chief! NO!!!! :o

The bugs make people vanish... by ZAPPING them on contact! Yikes!

Frankie's still alive (yes, I said "alive"). Thank goodness.

Dani's piloting Blades around the windmills would make for a cool video game level.

Back in the 1950's, Griffin Rock scientists were attempting to use crystals to open large subspace wormholes. These bugs are probes that are teleporting people to another location.

GRAHAM! W-Where did he end up? Limbo? The Void?

They're all in an underground camp half-built inside a cavern.

The Bots are enjoying bug killing way too much. ;)

Hey, it's Professor Baranova! didn't expect to see her back so soon!

Baranova refers to the probes as "tracers", and explains that they were part of a project called the "Sanctuary Plan". In case of an approaching cataclysmic event, the tracers were programmed to seek out every last human on the island and teleport them to an underground shelter for safety.

Boulder's discovered that the probes are affected by sonic waves.

The Sanctuary Plan was abandoned due to the shelter proving seismically unstable.

Oh, Doc's guarding Baranove during that tremor. ;)

The hideout is in the biggest cavern under Griffin rock. That's all the info the database had on the Sanctuary Plan.

The mountain on Griffin Rock is named... "Griffin Rock". Heh.

And that's what the hideout is under!

Frankie admitted to Cody that she's afraid of the dark.

After being rescued, the two scientists wonder how the Bots knew where to find them. Kade stutters in thinking that he must have left the GPS on or something. Cody gives a more accepting answer of their being programmed for emergency response led them to the hideout. Saving people is what they do.

This was a good episode. It surprised me how suspenseful with was, given the rather B-Movie styled premise (people vanishing into thin air), as well as how smart it was played out with everything given rational explanations. And the unexpected return of Baranova was a nice touch, adding a greater sense of continuity between seemingly filler episodes. I really hope that we get more fillers that turn out to be not-so-filler after all. :D

With Prime on the threads for me, and I'm trying to learn more about the Aligned Continuity outside of WFC & Prime...I'll be watching Rescue Bots a bit more.

I only watched the Pilot, Flobster, and Bumblebee's episode.

Best to watch them all in order. You can catch up on episodes 1-15 here - http://www.youtube.com/user/RollToTheRescue/videos

And this guy has Episodes 14-19 - http://www.youtube.com/user/GeneralBri/videos

Though, episode 20 (yesterday's episode) seems to not yet be up for anyone.

Also, do note that the episode titled "Walk on the Wild Side" is really episode 6 instead of 8. The reason it aired as the eighth episode was due to it being pushed back to air on Earth Day weekend.

Here's an episode guide for the the correct viewing order of each episode:
1. Family of Heroes
2. Under Pressure
3. Hotshots
4. Flobsters on Parade
5. The Alien Invasion of Griffin Rock
6. Walk on the Wild Side
7. Cody on Patrol
8. Four Bots and a Baby
9. Christmas in July
10. Deep Trouble
11. Return of the Dinobot
12. The Other Doctor
13. The Reign of Morocco
14. Small Blessings
15. The Griffin Rock Triangle
16. Rules and Regulations
17. The Lost Bell
18. Bumblebee to the Rescue
19. You've Been Squilshed
20. Countdown

The following have not yet aired on TV, and so aren't yet available.

21. The Haunting of Griffin Rock - airs July 28, 2012
22. Little White Lies - airs August 4, 2012
23. Shake Up - airs August 11, 2012
24. Rescue Boy - airs August 11, 2012
25. It's a Bot Time - airs August 18, 2012
26. Bot to the Future - airs August 18, 2012

Also, 8if you're looking to learn more about the Aligned continuity, have you taken to reading the novels yet? ;)

I've heard of them, seen them in stores, but never read them. I'm just familiar with Prime, WFC, BB @ Tyger Pax short, and a bit of RB (epis 1, 4, & 19)

And FOC, right?

Though, of all the Aligned material, it is the novels that contain the most meat of this continuity, so they're your best best for getting the biggest part of the big picture. ;)

Aren't the novels also supposed to be dreadful?

Also. Watched the latest episode. The drama was intense! I can't believe that a show this good has so many people just blindly dismissing it without even giving it a fair shot.

They are flawed, yes, but they still contain the most info. I didn't think the first one was "dreadful", just "imperfect". The second book I did think was bad, but others have told me that they found it a better read than the first. So, with these novels, it's to each his own. But, they are still a required read in full if one really wants to get the most they can of this continuity.

On a related note, I myself recently finished reading (for the first time) the old Keepers Trilogy that everyone considers appalling, and I did not find it as terrible a read as they said it'd be.
