A movie, in case your wondering, non creative title, I know. But, for those of you looking for a good movie, this shows potential. Its not all pop up scares and stupid, overdone crap like that. No, it looks as though actual thought was put into a horror film. Dont call BS until you watch the trailer:

That actually looks pretty good. I'm looking forward to seeing it.

Yeah man. The Possession, The Apparaiton (or whatever it's called....it's another slightly below A looking paranormal movie, supposed to come out this summer), and I think there may be one more movie like this coming out soon. I love these movies. I get all scared, despite being 34 years old and knowing better. It's fun.

I hate horror movies like these.

If they are going to do something with demons and religion involved at least do some more research. I don't know a single text that says demons have influence over children and it really bothers me that there are movies like this where a child that has done absolutely nothing wrong is able to be consumed by a demon.

At least make it a full grown adult and I will find it more believable.

Note, just stating an opinion and not here to start a war on religion.

Add to that, no self-respecting parent will buy there child a questionable looking box like that. Especially when you can't see what's inside it from the beginning.

Think about it from a parent's perspective. Your child is under the control of an otherworldly creature that you have no way to fight, and who will ultimately destroy him or her. To a parent that kind of thing is...well, scary as hell.

Also, I can think of a bit of text that says demons can take control over children. It's called the Exorcist. Linda Blair, Max von Sydow. One of the classic horror movies, in fact. Based on a novel of the same name, came out a couple years before.

That said, what about this movie is supposed to be different? Looks like every other possession movie to me.

Children's minds are easely manipulated. They are still learning right from wrong. They are vulnerable in every sense, plus the parents wouldnt allow anything majorly bad to happen to them, so there is insurence, so to speak. Protection. These are things a demon would value in it's host, at least I think so.

And stupid parents DO exist. If I had a kid, I wouldnt buy them some random box without checking it out first.

And it looks different because, well, the way its presented.
I mean, It may NOT be different at all, but if the trailer is anything to go by, actual thought was put into this, meaning it CAN be good. That doesnt always mean it will be though.

I saw this trailer and thought highly of it, and posted it.
Now its only a matter of seeing how it does when it comes out. I think it will be interesting by the way the trailer looks, if thats anything to go on.

Of course, Battle LA looked interesting too, as did The Last Airbender.

If you read my original post, I never claimed it to be different or new, mearely that it LOOKS that way.

I don't understand what's supposed to look different because at this point the trailers for possession movies are getting a bit formulaic. Child gets possessed, parents are confused, try everything to make her right again, kid gets crazy superpowers and starts hurting people with them, a body part appears in a place where body parts shouldn't be, freaky scene involving a mirror, etc etc.

Well, I can see that. Then again, I dont watch many horror movies. Out of how many even exist, fairly few ever perk my interest. The paranormal activity movies (At least the first 2, I havnt seen 3, might have to with 4 on the way) were great IMO. Of course, a friend showed them to me, I wasnt interested in them before then. So, got any recomendations?

Anyway, I rarely even give a damn about horror flicks, unless it automatically interests me, or if someone who knows what they are talking about recommends me one, i'll give it a chance. This one caught my eye, for one reason or another. Like I said, I think it's just how it was presented.

Not to derail the topic but The Thing! Either the original or the prequel released last year. Ideally original first, then prequel, but it really doesn't matter. It relies more on paranoia and isolation and, oh right, the most disturbing transformation scenes this side of Resident Evil.

I saw that a while back. I dont remember much about it though. I'll rewatch it when (if) the rental place gets it.
